She recently got in my truck and put her head under the seat thinking she was hidden from me. About a mile down the road she jumped out as if to say "surprise". She loves to ride.

I miss him dearly .
Hard to explain the intelligence of these animals. We often try to explain it in our terms. I love technical work, thinking, solving problems. But because I have come to truly appreciate 'knowing' is also, and more importantly, relational. This dog clearly knows he is loved, and responds. It seems Jesus is trying to tell us that 'knowledge' is not merely a list of facts that may or may not be maneuvered, or manipulated. 'Knowing' is relational - like knowing someone. 'Knowing' can come from acts of kindness. In this way, it seems that we can know animals - and they can know us. We can share acts of kindness and can respond - us to them - and them to us. I think this is why we think dogs are intelligent. They have a special way of 'knowing' us and we can share it with each other. God is Love. You can know Him.
