What an accomplishment to put all this together! I have one of the once wild Mustangs from the range in Oregon. He had been rounded up at 2 1/2 years and sold at auction. A gal trained him fairly well and I bought him when he was 10. He became my trail horse, and we rode all day in the nearby forest in WA. That horse always knew which trail led home, no matter how many we had traversed that day. He is 24 now. Keep up the great work! That is an amazing place you have created!
@@leanneadams2549 My mustang passed on at the age of 25. Luckily, I keep up with the local Oregon mustang group and one of the trainers told me of a Mustang mare in need of a home. She was five, very thin and not saddle broke. She had streams that looked like tears running down her face. She was breathing heavy. She was closed up in a stall. I told that horse that her life would get much better to just hang in there. A few days later she was delivered to our little farm. A couple of hours later she collapsed. Likely colic, so we walked and prayed and three hours later she improved. Today she is healthy and happy and roaming our farm in Oregon. My hat is off to Mr Dayton, his family, friends, and all those that have helped the Mustangs. There are so many Mustangs in need of help right now.
What a beautiful soul this man has!! I thank GOD every day for sending you to save our beautiful mustangs!! I saw a herd of wild horses years ago as we were driving out of Winnamucca, Nevada 😊. We stopped and took pictures until the big black stallion decided we were a threat to his herd and charged us!! We quickly got back in the car and drove off slowly with him Watching until we were out of sight! I’ve never forgotten that thrill I felt, actually seeing mustangs living free and wild!!!
Ive seen petitions started by other organizations against things. If yall start one, against the uranium drilling ill proudly sign . Thank you for this, it means alot. I came to tears at the end, it was very touching.
THANK YOU FOR SAVING SO MANY WILD MUSTANGS & FOR YOUR RESPECT FOR OUR PLAINS & INDIAN TRIBES WHO STILL KNOW THE SECRETS OF OUR BEAUTIFUL WILD LAND. GOD BLESS YOU DAYTON HYDE.
I loved riding a running horse so I became a leading jockey in the state of Washington. I love this and watching the wild mustang run beautiful.❤ Thank you God..

What a beautiful inspiring video about one amazing man and his tireless work to give all the wild creatures he cares about a fantastic safe life. Your work will never be forgotten and hopefully continue by others who share the same compassion as you.

When it comes to destroying the land, I'll take a herd of horses before. Cattle. Cattles run over EVERYTHING in site. Horses leave most areas intact.

I would love to know how many doctors have told their horse loving patients that they're allergic to horses! Personally, I've heard it from 2 so far and my neurosurgeon shook his head and said "I will never understand horse people. It doesn't matter how seriously they're hurt or how they got hurt the only thing they're worried about is how long before they can ride" at more than one appointment. It's amazing when you find a doctor who has seen the physical benefits of riding horses and yet that doesn't include the psychological and spiritual benefits of just being with horses.
It's just a part of who you are. Not be able to ride is the same as some horrible disease. You just can't live a quality of life without the horse. Im not a horseman, though I do think they are amazing, but I totally understand horse people. Much love ❤️
Such an inspiring and moving video! 🌟 The dedication and passion shown in the quest to save the wild mustang are truly remarkable. The cinematography and storytelling really bring the beauty and urgency of this mission to life. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey!
Hello mr Dayton I commend your many talents and great resolve to do meaningful work such as this wild horse and land conservation. This is a fantastic documentary beautifully crafted & relatable content without being either too soft or too strident. I hope the horses on your sanctuary will continue to run free and proud for many long generations to come. Such endeavours are needed all the more when there is so much to loathe about modern mankind’s many demented and destructive ways, showing those with open hearts how to be better to ourselves and the other life this planet has made possible. I have been around horses off and on since I was six or so. I cannot say I have a lot of patience around them but there always seemed to be one mare that I was drawn to and she to me. My mother and an aunt or two always had horses along with my mother who was a Quarter Horse breeder for forty years. "The saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink" applies to many more instances than that and I always had a tendency to yell at them when that happened. But they understood not to take offense. That is more than you can say for people for sure. You see now I am 76 and spent many decades away from any horses even though I was in Texas for twenty years I never rode a horse. It was always motorcycles or cars and trucks for me. Horses and I had an unspoken understanding and I trusted a horse more than people and they can sense that.. I have something in the works and if it works out I would like to go to this place and see the horses.
I may never own Land of my own. However, after talking to my brother and dad I told them they should rescue a couple wild horses. To me wild horses are the most beautiful creatures God has ever created. They took my advice. Every chance I get I go to the farm and each time I go I get closer and closer to the wild horses. They are still young. One of them I can actually brush and put a harness on and off. He is absolutely gentle and beautiful. In a few years he will be ready to ride. Fiona is a different story. She will come near if you have hay but she is spooked easy but that is to be expected. It will take some time. The worse thing to do is push to hard to fast. The relationship between a horse and human is based on trust and love.
@@manny7982 They most likely rescued them from being locked in overcrowded holding pens. Once they are rounded up, they are kept in dry lots for years sometimes. Better to be with a family that loves and respects them than to be in a holding pen somewhere.

He has been successful beyond belief. Feral horses now are 4 to 5 times the numbers set as their ranges being able to sustain in the Wild Horse and Burro Act. They are basically out of control at the detriment of other land uses. No one wants them to go away, but something drastic need to be done to get numbers under control or nature will take care of the problem (rather cruelly, as it always does).

They’re separated. 75% are mustangs
