Me too...I have a small rescue herd..I'm retired...I prefer them to people...I hate what America is doing to these animals...its barbaric...its about cattle rights...maybe a rethink is needed. I can't watch this as the beaurea of land management has broken previous promises to set aside land...ie reduces more and more of the land to allow grazing....its sick.

Just Wow !!!! Those horses are beautiful. We got a little horse from a guy that saves them from going to be killed 🤨 he had only had a rope thing on his head. We had a friend that picked him up to train him. Awesome guy, he flat out knows what he’s doing. That little horse was so good. The boys were little when we got the horse, he let them little kids do everything with him.

The wrangler at 18:00 sharing his observations /wisdom about why wild Mustangs have such naturally good hoof health 'good blood flow to hooves, no lumps, worn naturally, issues develop when man messes with them' ...horse owners usually know this, but it makes so much more sense now, good observation ..thank you.

    • @dennisbrazeal9152

Can’t agree with “horse owners usually know this.“ I see too many misshapen and unbalanced feet around nowadays due to poor shoeing. It is true that if you look at 50 mustangs their feet will all be worn off the same with the doso-palmer angle correct, the medial lateral correct, and the frog on the ground. Quality of farrier‘s over the years has declined. There are too many guys out there with shoeing tools but a lack of knowledge of both horses, and feet on horses. There are still good ones out there of course, but you see too many problems caused by poor shoeing that have to be “remedied” by adding clips, wedges or other devices on the shoe. There are of course practical applications for all those things, but it should not be caused by poor shoeing.

Even when available, the subtitles don't always make sense, and are distracting, so I've needed to watch multiple times, then... without sound. 😏 He hasn't posted anything to TH-cam lately, but the older episodes are probably still available. That said, Ryan Rose is amazing, too. I imagine there's many good horse people around the globe (they love their 'unstructured' horse racing in Outer Mongolia, too. 😊

@Awesomedogs47 Do some research, this is NOT the norm. The mustangs suffer great abuse from a lot of bad actors. The reason they remove them from the land has more to do with big cattle ranchers wanting the grazing land for their cattle. It's more about the money. While there may be a few people who genuinely care about the mustangs, most just view them as a money wasting nuisance.

If only it was all as positive as portrayed here. It's not unusual for young foals to be injured or separated from their mothers. Many of the older stallions will be gelded and live out the rest of their lives in holding pens, separated from their families with whom they had strong bonds. Some are found to be in poor condition, not receiving enough food and supplements in these pens. When the pens become overcrowded, horses over 10 years old can be sold to buyers from Canada and Mexico where they will be slaughtered. There are not anywhere near enough adopters for the horses that are removed from the BLM land. Many of these horses are removed, not because they are damaging the land, but because ranchers want to run more sheep and cattle, or hunters want land for hunting. Also, birth control is used on many of the mares and is fairly effective. There is going to be another "gather" this October '23.
Also, the family relations in this video are extremely simplified. There is often more than one stallion in the group - the boss and a lieutenant who helps defend the herd. The stallions are often very loving and caring for the younger horses in the group. They will usually have a special mare with whom they bond. Mares will sometimes choose which stallion they want to be with and will split off from a larger group. Some family groups are just one mare, one or two of her offspring, and a stallion. Studying the families is complex and fascinating, not at all as is usually portrayed. These families are torn apart during gathers. Older stallions who have lost their mares will often join younger stallions and "mentor' them. A healthy horse can live 30+ years, so the idea that a horse that is 10+ should be removed is just an arbitrary standard.

As you know, there are no easy, or absolute solutions to this issue, we hope someday there is. Thanks for your thoughtful input.

    • @BM-if9zn
      @BM-if9zn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@HorseTVGlobal there wont be "easy and absolute solutions" because there are too many other interests at hand as the user above mentioned. The only focused here is "the land" while wild horses are killed at every round up, and the suffering before their deaths is heartbreaking. A balanced video would have shown both sides of the story, BLM and those who want them to roam free.

The alternative is really simple. Get the ranchers livestock off the areas legally mandated for the horses. We shouldn't be subsidizing private land owners livestock feeding costs at the expense of wild horses and what is left of heritage /historical assets. There would be plenty of room then and also appoint a board of wild horse advocates to manage the ranges and adoptions if they deem them needed. Their habitat and natural predators do a pretty good job of keeping them in check. Mother Nature and our Creator seem to know what they are doing. Land legally mandated for our wild life should never be leased to private land owners to graze their animals. @@cshepard09

I'm not even going to watch this. Might like it. Might not. I had a mustang. His name was Bob. He was..as follows. He didn't like his head messed with. Every time I took him out, I had to "catch" him. I used to be a real cowboy on a real working ranch my parents were partners in. He was my favorite horse and I loved him so much. It broke my heart when I decided to find my own path outside of farm/ranching and couldn't bring him with me. I don't want to know what happened to him because I honestly think I was the only person who understood him. He was ground broke. Great roping horse. Could run through rock flats so fast you weren't sure if you were going to live and cut like a $20K well trained horse. He had a neck as thick as an oak, hooves of steel, stamina beyond extreme and a heart of gold. I just hope I get to ride him again in the afterlife. I was in my 20's then. I'm in my 50's now. I'm hoping he's waiting for me and forgive me for leaving him to lesser horsemen.

These horses are descended from the best of the best Spanish horses from Spain. They were working cattle in Spain long before quarter horses became of age in America. All of the horses that came to America were recorded by their names, color, and gender. Take a listen to Ian Tyson's La Primera. Charlie Goodnight of the Goodnight Loving Trail was given a Mustang when his family arrived in Texas. That little Mustang taught him how to ride. They can pick up your heartbeat from just a few feet away. They know who you are. I was totaly devestated to learn that a rancher in Colorado was given a group of Mustangs for $10 a head. He turned around and sold them for slaughter for over $4,000. It made me sick. Thank God for wonderful horse Mustang trainers like Isidro Espinoza in northern Arizona who know how to train them.

Question:(Would wild horses likely be able to survive in the same environments of Yellowstone and Alaska where the bison roam).
Awnser:Yes,wild horses like Mustangs and Brumbys, are highly adaptable animals that have shown their ability to survive and thrive in various environments including Africa, Yellowstone and Alaska so it is reasonable to that they could potentially adapt to similar conditions.Mustangs witch as the video says are descendants of domestic horses that escaped or were let go and even abandoned by Spanish conquistadors in North America, have successfully established populations in the Western United States. Similarly, Brumbys, which are feral horses in Australia, have adapted and flourished in the rugged Australian outback. These examples demonstrate the remarkable resilience and adaptability of wild horses. The plains of Africa, where zebras roam, provide a distinct set of challenges and opportunities for survival for the Brumbys. Zebras have evolved unique adaptations to cope with this environment, such as their striped coat that helps repel flies and mosquitoes. They are also highly social animals, living in herds that offer protection against predators.Although wild horses have not faced the same evolutionary pressures as zebras, their general characteristicssuch as their physical strength, agility, and ability to graze on a variety of vegetation, make them well-equipped to handle diverse environments. Additionally, their strong herding instincts and hierarchical social structure contribute to their survival by providing improved defense against predators.
If wild horses were introduced to the African plains as well as the ones In Yellowstone and Alaska, it is logical that they would eventually adapt and find ways to coexist with the existing wildlife already there....However, this hypothetical scenario raises important considerations. The introduction of non or former-native species can have unintended ecological consequences and disrupt the delicate balance of ecosystems. Therefore, careful planning and assessment of potential impacts would be necessary before any such introduction.conservation efforts often focus on preserving and protecting indigenous wildlife species, including zebras, that are integral to their respective ecosystems. These species have evolved over millions of years and play essential roles in maintaining biodiversity and ecological stability. Protecting their habitats and promoting responsible wildlife management are crucial for the long-term health of these ecosystems

And fun fact:Chalicotheres are related to the extinct brontotheres, as well as to modern day horses, rhinoceroses, and tapirs. As the early evolution of perissodactyls is still unresolved, their closest relatives among other perissodactyl groups is obscure.

Then, that area of the body can be groomed and cleaned like any other part of the body, unlike a heat brand, because the hair follicles will continue to grow in white and won't re-pigment, unlike a heat brand that would scar and require medical attention.

Doomed to stuck in pens and most will never see freedom or their families again. I am assuming that who made this must love these wild horses, but seeing how they are so frightened in other videos of the helicopters...well I could look no more. Some call these horses wild. Some call them "ferel". All I know is I love them all and want them to remain where they have lived , some for decades. All wildlife is doomed, it appears. It's sad. But, money talks.

Foals in domestic situations are weaned from the mares at four to six months. These are just feral domestic horses so the same rules apply. They will be living as domestically held horses after capture, so they are weaned at capture.

The BLM has thousands of them standing around in huge enclosures. They want people to take them. Help yourself. As far as the idea of "the whole herd" has to stay together, these are just feral domestic horses. No different than any horse you find in a stable or pasture.
Domestic horses aren't kept together as herds their entire lives. Stallions are kept separate from mares. Foals are weaned from mares at four to six months, colts are gelded and sold off. mares get sold off. horses are kept in barns separate from each other, pasture buddies die or are sold off. Nothing is permanent with domestic horses. And nobody talks having to sell domestically owned horses as family units of studs, mares and an annual group of foals that always stay young and never grow into troublemaking bachelors, or fillies that would be bred by their own sires or brothers. .
As far as feral horses are concerned, their herds aren't unchanging either. Herd stallions get replaced on a regular basis, mares get stolen from a band and wind up in another band, colts are driven from the herd by the stallion, fillies wind up in other bands, foals lose track of the mare if large numbers of horses congregate. horses die for one reason or another. They aren't humans with cell phones, GPS tracking devices or internet connections. They get lost and go with whatever bunch of horses they can attach themselves to at the moment.
Sounds great in theory, what you suggest - but it is not practical and life doesn't work that way.
