I’ve been thinking how they will refresh knife combat in the OG RE4 when tackling the remake. So knowing the parry system will be integrated in real time against Krauser is hella exciting
It also fits Leon narratively. He's a special agent with flashy knife moves and round house kicks and crazy acrobatic moves. As contrast to Chris who's more of a military man with guns blazing, muscles and explosions.

Very interesting looking back on this over a year after the game is out. They basically voiced everything I feel about the game. Love swerving between attacks and all the new enemy behaviors - you’re constantly re-reading the situation. Even did a Pro NG No Hit playthrough (without any silly cheese tactics). You really get an appreciation for how dynamic and fully realized all the enemies are. It’s an addicting game with stunning depth, but wow it’s going to set a high standard for future entries.
I want it expanded upon, all the og characters and maps and more. Would be cool to be able to play as the Merchant and Luis. Be even better if they allowed you to go through the main game with the characters upon unlocking them in mercenaries even if it doesn't make sense lore-wise.
If it follows the RE Village schedule PS4/PS5 users will get the demo 3 weeks before release and the multi platform demo will be on the 18th March but hopefully it's sometime this week or next week
It definitely would make sense to upgrade the knife to it's maximum durability as soon as possible being that parrying and stealth kills are a thing now- and since those are things players will be doing often enough.
Indeed the knife was so crucial in the original. Professional mode required you to master knee shots to preserve the ammunition which was more scarce. So excited for the inventory management survival horror GOAT to return!
The added parrying and the stealth kills is really interesting to see specially with how the enemies are infected humans that aren't mindless zombies but mind controlled ones

This looks like everything I wanted from a Resi 4 remake. I remember being in awe 17 years ago while playing the original, and even now I can appreciate what a masterpiece of a game it is. It's aged very well but even so it's still a product of it's time, so I can't wait to experience it all again on a modern system.

I’ve noticed every RE since 7 has been a test for the upcoming title, and now seeing that Luis will be playing a much bigger role as a companion during the game I think they’re getting ready for RE5 it makes complete sense and the signs are already present.
True however I think after RE4 remake the next RE game will likely be RE9 usually after remake game they do a continuation of the series also I believe RE 5 will be the last remake if they make one as RE6 is very modern already although we should get a remake of that one as well since its a bit of a messy game for sure.

the new parry mechanic exactly mirrors the strength of the OG game; universal mechanics. This is why Resi 4 is one of the best action games I've played. The mechanics are so consistent and not arbitrary.

This is the way. Co op campaigns are really fun but it makes it a lot harder for the devs to create a consistent story and gameplay that way. But making a solo campaign and co-op extra modes? Perfection
A perfect example of a perfect remake. No cut Content, no change to atmosphere, and the merchant! Will there be attachments for weapons? Like lights and lasers? Possibly optics?
This is the best improvisastion. I am not denied that I said no need to remake RE 4 because its already good, but they keep ke vibes and atmosphere of the old game strong and still provides something new without ruined the old feelings of playing of RE4
This game is fantastic, the onlt concern I'm having is if there's a stalker enemy. There was never one in the original and i feel like it would take away from exploring the map and the game mechanics if you have an annoying unkillable enemy on your back most of the time
For sure, they should of given this exact same treatment to the remakes of 2&3 where the general game is kept intact with massive improvements made to gameplay and some parts expanded instead of doing full reimaginings of the games looks like they are starting to learn what the fans really want

It’s not possible in re4 there’s certain sections where there is no other way around it than to use guns ie the water room in the castle where Ashley has to use the cranks to raise the floor and you defend her from being taken while doing so that’s just one example there’s a few other sequences like this.
The devs already said that a knife only run is not possible, unfortunately. Mainly because you have to use certain weapons in certains sections of the game to progress

Still, I wonder if there will be a trophy/achievement for a knife only playthrough which doesn't count the sections where a gun HAS to be used. Kind of like the one in Village which didn't void when using the artillery against Heisenberg (as it was required). Or will it not be possible because the knife would break? Or perhaps you have to upgrade the durability of the knife? Either way, ROLL ON March 24th! Can't wait to play!

RE4 is by far, one of my favorite games along dead space , the y were very unique and set a standard in the industry Im so Glad im able to experience their second coming
Love the direction they have with the knife mechanics. The knife was essential in the original but of course with the technology they had at the time, it did feel clunky. Now with the parry and the takedowns, the gameplay feels much more rounded out and smooth. In stead of having to go to the enemy, take out your knife, look down, and then slash; it can all be done in one motion. Also, I really like the implementation of the parry. Although the parry is not a new mechanism by any means, I believe it got specifically popularized due to the souls series and notably Elden Ring. I believe this will help new players to like this remake better. Like I love the original but its hard to recommend it to my friends because they are used to all the fast and flashy games nowadays. I hope these new mechanics will appeal to new players because the story and the game is honestly so damn good.

What I appreciate and love about this interview is that the devs were fully aware of the original Re4 being a masterpiece and not wanting to remake it because it would be a very difficult task. I appreciate that they were honest about not wanting to do a remake since if the game wasn't as grand then they knew their would be backlash. And I also love that after deciding to remake the game they went ahead and replayed the original to get a feel of what made Re4 great to begin with.
I’ve been down with Resident Evil since it was born and played all every game and got every achievement. I hope they really do a great job with this one. Maybe the game is already done and they’re just polishing it.

I think knife parries are going to be so much fun. It also fits someone like Leon a lot to actually parry and dodge stuff.
Parrying is always fun (Royalguard enthusiast here) but I'm worried it may make the game too easy.Especially when we can dodge now.

A perfect example of a perfect remake. No cut Content, no change to atmosphere, and the merchant! Will there be attachments for weapons? Like lights and lasers? Possibly optics?
This REmake could be on par with the re1 remake. It just looks so good from what I have seen
They really need to do something about that GTA Definitive Edition rain effect.
This is the best improvisastion. I am not denied that I said no need to remake RE 4 because its already good, but they keep ke vibes and atmosphere of the old game strong and still provides something new without ruined the old feelings of playing of RE4
The passion and interest in this short interview assures me that RE4R will surpass the original game, which is a good thing.
This game is fantastic, the onlt concern I'm having is if there's a stalker enemy. There was never one in the original and i feel like it would take away from exploring the map and the game mechanics if you have an annoying unkillable enemy on your back most of the time

With how many great things the game has shown so far this has the potential of being the best Remake since RE1R.
For sure, they should of given this exact same treatment to the remakes of 2&3 where the general game is kept intact with massive improvements made to gameplay and some parts expanded instead of doing full reimaginings of the games looks like they are starting to learn what the fans really want
I completely agree. The RE1 remake on GameCube was so amazing! I'm hoping this follows the same path in awesomeness.
I would like to see in REmake 4 completely new locations and bosses, that were not in the original, in addition to the old recycled content. That would be pretty awesome! I liked the new enemy Minotaur from gameplay trailers. I hope Remake will bring even more such surprises!
One of the very few games I finished more than once years ago (on the ps2). I just hope my heart can still take it now that I am much older :(

The new knife combat/upgrading/limited use before it breaks sounds very intriguing. Gonna make knife only runs (if possible) VERY interesting.
It’s not possible in re4 there’s certain sections where there is no other way around it than to use guns ie the water room in the castle where Ashley has to use the cranks to raise the floor and you defend her from being taken while doing so that’s just one example there’s a few other sequences like this.
The devs already said that a knife only run is not possible, unfortunately. Mainly because you have to use certain weapons in certains sections of the game to progress
@@wrathofthegods4739 Ah yes I forgot about that section with the sniper rifle while Ashley has to turn the cranks. Still, I wonder if there will be a trophy/achievement for a knife only playthrough which doesn't count the sections where a gun HAS to be used. Kind of like the one in Village which didn't void when using the artillery against Heisenberg (as it was required). Or will it not be possible because the knife would break? Or perhaps you have to upgrade the durability of the knife? Either way, ROLL ON March 24th! Can't wait to play!
@@mikkdc same man can’t wait to get playing it and yes that’s possible would still technically be a knife only run as in those sections your not really using guns by choice there’s different types of knives in the game Aswell seems you can pick up kitchen knives and smaller knives so would be cool to beat the game using all the different knives I’m guessing when you get krausers that one is unbreakable or something
@@mikkdc Knife being breakable shouldn't be a problem since there're people who beat RE2 Remake with knives only and I'm not talking about the unbreakable knife unlockable. If anything, parrying and ground execution should make knife only run more easier.

I can't wait I really need the demo as soon as possible! The developers seem very proud of it. I'm really dying to finally be able to play it.
Love the direction they have with the knife mechanics. The knife was essential in the original but of course with the technology they had at the time, it did feel clunky. Now with the parry and the takedowns, the gameplay feels much more rounded out and smooth. In stead of having to go to the enemy, take out your knife, look down, and then slash; it can all be done in one motion.
Also, I really like the implementation of the parry. Although the parry is not a new mechanism by any means, I believe it got specifically popularized due to the souls series and notably Elden Ring. I believe this will help new players to like this remake better. Like I love the original but its hard to recommend it to my friends because they are used to all the fast and flashy games nowadays. I hope these new mechanics will appeal to new players because the story and the game is honestly so damn good.

In the first three months of 2023, we'll have seen three of the best remakes/remasters of all time.
What I appreciate and love about this interview is that the devs were fully aware of the original Re4 being a masterpiece and not wanting to remake it because it would be a very difficult task. I appreciate that they were honest about not wanting to do a remake since if the game wasn't as grand then they knew their would be backlash. And I also love that after deciding to remake the game they went ahead and replayed the original to get a feel of what made Re4 great to begin with.
