I used this video to teach my students of year 10 doing PE about the types of contractions. The video was very informative and they understood the concepts without much input from me. Thank you..!!
hi Hayley, I have a question. Regarding the mock question that says what movement occurs during a concentric contraction of the quadriceps; why is the answer not knee extension? Quads shorten with knee extension, no?
Apologies, I'll take a look. To clarify... In a concentric contraction the quads extend the knee and rec fem flexes the hip. In an eccentric contraction of the quads the knee flexes and hip extensions... as the muscle is lengthening
I am from Iraq and I study human medicine in Egypt at Cairo University, with all love and appreciation, Dr
Thank you so much!! I'm taking kinesiology this semester and your explanation helped me understand muscle contractions completely😘💚
Glad you like the video 🙏 are you looking for help with anything else?

One of your mock questions is wrong, you said quadriceps does knee flexion during concentric contraction, when realy it does knee extension
Apologies, I'll take a look. To clarify...
In a concentric contraction the quads extend the knee and rec fem flexes the hip.
In an eccentric contraction of the quads the knee flexes and hip extensions... as the muscle is lengthening

why concentric and eccentric contraction are called "isotonic" contraction? Why the tension during these two types of contraction cannot change?
