You should actually not look at the weights but the muscle. Your muscle is contracting, shortening when you pull on the handlebar. The weights are going UP.

it would be eccentric as you lower it to the ground and concentric as you picked it up. As it's in a relatively fixed position whilst you carry it I would say it would be an isometric contraction.

why is cable lat Pull-down initial phase concentric. isn't weight pulled down to the ground. same confusion around chin pull and squats( eccentric)
