    Awesome Bible! I join the rank of those who switched from some translation to the KJV. It is simply more "high-voltage" than any of its English counterparts. I hope to get this Bible some day.

    When you read the KJV bible you see immediately this version is special and different than other versions. Once I started reading the King James I never went back to anything else.

    I found a Chocolate Brown R.L. Allan Longprimer slightly imperfect from R.L. Allan and it's a beauty. So very happy with my purchase. Thanks for your review it helped me decide to give the Longprimer a whirl.

    I always thought Allans Longprimer was the biggest bible they sold until watching this video. I was very surprsied to find out that it is a lot smaller than I orginally had thought. I purchased an Allan ESV New Classic Reader in Black HG a few months back and thought that was too big for me. I am now thinking of purchasing a Longprimer along with my Ruby sometime this week. Im guessing the Longprimer seems extra long because of the full-yapp? Thanks again for the review.

      Very cool Craig. In my opinion, the navy 53LP is the best looking of the bunch. That Allan navy color on their famous highland goatskin is a real winner. Enjoy your bible and congrats on the deal! :)

    Ordered the 53i ( indexed ) the other day. It's the buttero calf skin, not the highland goat skin model. $185 new/shipped , I've wanted a longprimer for 3 years so I'm super excited

    Why can't anyone make a NKJV this well? The new Schuyler NKJV looked OK but, they went and cut the ribbons straight across! its like they had a grade school kid cut the ribbon.
    I think the new Nasb SCR is amazing but why does the NKJV get no love? There's my rant of the day LOL, I know your a fan of the NKJV so I know you get me;)
    If I do get a Allan someday, I will probably go with the nasb because I have way to many KJV bibles. Nice reviews bro you always do a good job.

    Thanks for a great review as usual. How would you compare this to the Schuyler KJV which I have heard very good things about, especially come to references and typesetting. Thanks in advance for your time!

      Hello,
      I have not yet handled the Schuyler KJV, however I can strongly vouch for the Allan 53. The layout is very well executed, the font is bold and legible, and the paper is very nice. Overall I think it is one of the nicest KJV out there.

    • @borissquiggly9618
      @borissquiggly9618 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that. I am now persuaded to look at the Allan Sovereign 63 as well. Looks like a slightly larger bible with more margins and (I think) more opaque papers (?). I keep hearing about the Schuyler KJV / Westminster great references/notations, and their upcoming Canterbury (KJV) is visually very appealing. I will continue to mull over this! Thanks again!

      I bought longprimer sovereign have complain problems since may 2015 look
      they don't really care if you have prob i had two place fix one never fix the
      other one. Take it back with half fix never paid my post money back my
      sovereign. So when you complain the problem never fix other side and never post
      money back ask more pic complain post again without gave money back at all. So
      they gave it back the money the bible with same problem. Plus cancel my pre
      order was a gift my family in US with a special one different bible now cost
      250 pounds.. So than after i complain We regret that we are not able to fulfil
      any more orders from you as our products and service simply cannot meet your
      expectations. But i have two other bibles them. If is not expectations why i
      have two more bible and order another one 250.00 pounds 225.00 pounds since i
      pre oreder with new one special the yellow with purple paper with a print
      special... I guess cant complain too much i guess they dont care then

      +An Anthropologist on Mars I recently ordered the Schuyler KJV Westminster in purple goatskin, and I'm very pleased with it. Because there are two columns of references, the double columns of text are a bit narrow, but it doesn't bother me. Type size is 9.6 pt. IIRC. Beautiful binding and paper. Schuyler is giving Allan some real competition. The upcoming Canterbury will probably be a winner, too.
      I also have a Schuyler Quentel in NKJV. Extremely well done, but it is big. I wish the Quentel were the size of the Westminster, even if it had slightly thinner paper. This is a beautiful, very readable edition though.

    My Scofield 300 series from LCBP has proper names at 57.00 and it is Smyth sewn and lays flat....I still haven't found justification in spending money for Longprimer.

      It's probably the note paper in the back that attracts people's attention. I don't know.

    • @kmsharley75
      @kmsharley75 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      theAVbelievers part of it perhaps...personally I disagree with a lot of Scofield's notes as well. As did Martyn Llloyd Jones.
      That aside you can't appreciate an R.L. Allan until you have one in your hands. A league of its own.

    • @kmsharley75
      @kmsharley75 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      theAVbelievers and the note paper is handy. In my Allan ESV Classic Reader(which I lost as part of a trade) I used the notepaper. I plan to use my Long Primer note paper to write out Johnathan Edward's 70 Resolutions. I also have a little prayer book called "Valley of Vision" and plan on writing out some of my favorite prayers from that book in my bible. Also some of my favorite hymns like "Holy,holy,holy" or "Be Thou My Vision". The notepaper ,for me at least, is very nice. This bible will end up belonging to my 2 year old daughter when she grows up and has children of her own.

    • @theAVbelievers
      @theAVbelievers 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's another reason why I like my Cambridge wide margin KJV, because you can take notes as you read, or even in the back of the Bible.

    D can you describe the leather on your bible?

    • @pault.5744
      @pault.5744  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello John!
      I can do my best, but highland goatskin is very difficult to describe. It is best understood when it is handled.
      The goatskin on this R.L. Allan bible is considered to be one of the highest quality leathers available. It is soft and supple right out of the box with very little "break in period". On this particular bible, the highland goatskin is pleasant to the touch. If one run's their hands over the surface, it feels textured and one can feel the deep valleys of the grain. I would not describe the leather as rough by any stretch of the imagination. "Textured" is the correct word.
      The leather liner on the inside of the cover plays a big role in how the whole cover behaves. When the bible is open and sitting in your lap or balanced on your open palm, the bible moves almost like a wave. The whole bible has a fluid feel to how it behaves.
      I hope this helps John, please let me know if you have any more questions.
      Thank you
      Paul

    • @unbriar7367
      @unbriar7367 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Rider ESVO people believe the original manuscript didn't have that verse and the KJV translators added it in. therefore, they believe the KJV is corrupt. can the KJVO logic also be applied to ESVO?
      im KJV but I also have every major translation bible and I enjoy them all despite the so called "satanic influence"
      btw, you don't need to educate me on the different translations, I already know it so save your time and fingers.

    "Like it or not, the KJV is still the #1 best selling translation in the nation." AMEN!!! That's because it is the divinely preserved and infallible words of God, translated into the English language. "The words of the Lord are pure words:
    as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

      I understand. "Nice" is a subjective term. I know plenty of people who mark in their nice bibles regardless of which one it is. I think the Holman Ultrathin is a nice Bible too!
      Bibles in premium bindings are no different than cars with leather seats and a sun roof. Do you need those features? No. It's nice to have though if you can afford it.

    Have you seen the new Longprimer "Sovereign." Basically the same bible only highly opaque 38gsm paper, 1 inch outer and bottom margins, and slightly larger overall than the standard Longprimer. I've been debating which bible translation and publisher to give my children to commemorate their salvation. I also really like the Schyler Quentel Series, but the KJV or NKJV has not been released in the Quentel yet. I think the KJV Longprimer Sovereign in the navy blue "Silver Edition" (63NBS) is the bible I'm going to give them!

    • @pault.5744
      @pault.5744  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve,
      I have preordered the Allan KJV Longprimer Sovereign in the navy blue "Silver Edition" and will be doing a video review. I am quite excited for this edition because it will be the first time in a long time (possibly ever) that the Allan Longprimer will be on paper as high quality as what is being advertised.
      I obviously cannot recommend it until I have it in hand, but it looks very promising. I would recommend ordering soon if you are interested in the first run, as they will be marked as an Allan First Edition. Non-first editions are not any less beautiful, but the Sovereign will be the first major change to the Longprimer in a long time and it would be nice to give your children an official "first edition".
      I own both the ESV and NASB Schuyler Quentel series bibles. They are quite nice, but VERY different from the Allan Longprimer in many ways. I will be posting a comparative review of the two Quentels to show the evolution of the Quentel line as well as a detailed review of the new ESV Quentel in a week or so.
      Thanks!
      Paul

    Is it like bonded leather? Or is it a soft smooth leather because most bible I look at say leather and they feel like bonded leather.

    • @pault.5744
      @pault.5744  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is quite possibly the furthest away from bonded leather that you can get. Bonded leather is basically leather shavings that are glued together to make a cover. Imagine particle board, except with leather. Also, bonded leather is very rigid. Highland goatskin is incredibly flexible. If you really wanted to (though I don't recommend it) you could roll the cover on this bible back onto itself almost like rolling a cannoli or a taquito and the leather could take it.
      Highland goatskin is the actual hide of the animal. It undergoes very little treatment. It is the definition of what natural leather feels like. There is absolutely no way to mistaken highland goatskin with bonded leather.
      Many people say highland goatskin is the nicest leather they have ever felt.

Should be pressed outside should match inside the paper side. Mine pressed outside is 1/4 inches different the paper inside is don't match. So if I have straight the full yapp around to look fix around cant have push presser 1/4 inches around to match.. I have message them but want to feel stupid if is write. I don't think is wrong. • @aconway90
    @aconway90 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Why is KJV not your first choice? It shoud be. Pick up "New Age Bible Versions" by G.A. Riplinger to learn more.

    • @abc-wv4in
      @abc-wv4in 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Andy C I love the KJV but what Riplinger says about other mainstream translations (such as NKJV, NASB, ESV) is just plain incorrect. If you look at them (can go to biblegateway.com and compare up to five translations side by side), they do not say what she says they do. All of them, including the KJV, are translations done from manuscripts in the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
      Please don't discourage others from reading the Bible.

    • @skippy8696
      @skippy8696 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      James White completely destroyed Gail Riplinger in a radio debate and his book on the King James Controversy totally refutes the idea that the KJV is some kind of infallible translation. The ESV and NASB are far more accurate and readable, sorry man...I was KJV-only when I first came to Christ but that's because I was ignorant and going by what I was taught. Once I did some independent research, I knew my previous position was just embarrassing and wrong.
