    This video is old, so I don't know if you will see this comment, but I just wanted to thank you for your awesome Bible reviews. Reviewing not just Bible covers and binding quality, but the details of the text block itself, and actually showing details of how to use the study features of the various Bibles has been a blessing. The only reference Bible I've ever used has been Scofield, so I wasn't sure how other reference systems worked. Thank you very much.

      We definitely see your comment and appreciate it very much! We are glad to hear that you also appreciate the intention of our videos, which as you said, is to focus on the content and interior bible features as much as the binding materials. We feel that God's Word (the King James Bible) is the main attraction of any bible, and whether it's a $2.00 paperback or $200 Premium Leather, either one has the power to change lives and bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Thank you for understanding our mission here at The KJV Store and God Bless You!
      And just FYI, we do have excellent KJV Scofield options available as well, including our newly published Goatskin Edition (similar or even better in quality than the Allan Longprimer in this video):

    In my opinion the 53 Longprimer is the finest KJV bible ever made. Other premiums might have certain better qualities BUT they lack artistic charm .
    I also would love to see Allan do a run of BUTTERO CALFSKIN paste down editions again. It's still one of my most favorite bibles I've ever owned.
    The Buttero was not given the love it deserved cause people expect that yapp and edge liner . .. Paste downs done right imho are awesome 😉

      Thanks for your great comment. We agree on virtually all points. Fun fact, our "KJV Store 10th Anniversary Edition" limited edition bible released in 2014 was an Allan Longprimer in Buttero Calfskin. It was the first and only collaboration / co-published bible that Allan has ever done in their 150 year history to our knowledge, and we were privileged to be a part of it. It was a beautiful bible and a great keepsake for our 10 Year occasion. God Bless.

    Thanks for the amazing price and shipping speed KJV Store. Oh, and your email service/customer service is outstanding and shockingly quick to reply to questions. I ordered a dark green minerva calfskin 52 Longprimer from you on the 15th and it already arrived today on the 26th. It's outstanding and I'll be leaving a review on the website when I have more time.
    I don't understand the centre reference column. What is the purpose. I watched the video. Which version of references is this? Is it thompson? and what is the difference anyways?

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your kind words and compliment T Bone. The purpose of the Center-Column Reference is to find more Scriptures regarding the same "Chain" or "Topic" or "Theme".
      These are "Oxford" References. All KJV R.L. Allan Bibles use 1950's "Oxford" (as in Oxford University Press) KJV Reference Bibles and Reference Systems. They are not the same as the "Thompson" but they work basically the same way and honestly aren't that different than most reference systems.
      If you start watching at about the 8:54 mark, our video goes into great depth on the usefulness of the cross-referneces:
      th-cam.com/video/7T6EO97BJqo/w-d-xo.html
      Micah 5:2, the "b" next to "Bethlehem" sends you to the Center-Column, which lists Jeremiah 41:17 and Matthew 2:1 as Cross-References for Micah 5:2 and the word or place "Bethlehem".
      If you turn to Jeremiah 41:17, you start to see the significance of Bethlehem, as well as the history of that place, such as in Nehemiah 7:26, stating that many Israelites from Bethlehem were part of the Egyptian captivity. Then the "forward" references take you to Matthew 2:1, showing the significance of Bethlehem as the place where Christ would be born, which also fulfills the Old Testament prophecy of Micah 5:2.
      Then Luke 2:4 talks about Bethlehem being of the "house and lineage of David", which helps to show that Jesus was part of the same ancestral line of Abraham and David, etc... It shows the same thing in John 7:42 "Christ cometh of the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was."
      Then think about the dates. In Luke 2, the date is 7 B.C., whereas Micah 5:2 was 700 B.C. The Bethlehem cross-reference helps you understand not only the significance of Bethlehem as the city where Christ would be born, but that 693 years before it happened, Micah prophesied this in Micah 5:2. That's pretty amazing stuff in our opinion. If you "follow the chain" of any reference on any verse you are reading, we think you'll learn a lot more about the continuity of Scripture.
      If you have further questions, have your Longprimer Bible handy and give us a call. Blessings.

    Thank you for the very informative, instructive and helpful review. Great job! "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." This means the KJV only is the divinely preserved infallible Word of God, in the English language.

    If I had the money I'd acquire one to scan and create a facsimile, then see if I could find someone to print and bind it, and offer it with less expensive binding options.

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of time and money it would take to acquire one, scan one, then print a single copy would cost thousands of dollars. Then you still wouldn't have Allan's premium leather. The amount of money it takes to print bibles in bulk, buy premium leather in bulk, then do all the binding by hand is in the hundreds of thousands. So getting one of these for $200 or less is actually a bargain.

    • @fnjesusfreak
      @fnjesusfreak 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've scanned a couple text blocks with my own equipment, although I'm sure it's not quite in the quality of a LCBP or CBP facsimile, and I have to get rid of the binding to do a good job. And I actually like hardbacks and faux-leather bindings better than the real thing (expensive Bibles make me afraid to handle them for fear of damaging them and *desecrating* them, which is probably counterproductive to their purpose). This is why I don't generally buy premium Bibles. (You would think someone from a family of men of the cloth would be familiar with fine leather Bibles, but we never had *anything* but el cheapo editions.)
      I expect that LCBP or CBP wouldn't be likely to handle such because of the Oxford text type (the Scofield being their sole exception), the lack of italics, and more importantly the highly controversial marginal notes that I've heard about. These notes make me curious about the text block, but I'm not really £100 curious (that's way out of my price range) - so I decided to see if anyone was selling them on eBay, and when I saw the price of the least expensive copy there, my jaw hit the floor... EVERYONE was selling *used* Longprimers for markedly more than *new* ones cost on Allan's website!

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This would also be illegal and in violation of Allan and Oxford's copyright, FYI. Just something to keep in mind. Blessings.

  • @j.woodbury412
    @j.woodbury412 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Those all look like very beautiful Bibles, but to be perfectly honest, it's highly unlikely that I would ever purchase a premium bible. Nothing against them, but I'm afraid I would buy it more so I can say I own a premium bible than to actually read it, and I would rather not own a premium bible than own it for the wrong reason. Anyway, the most important thing about a Bible is the text inside, and I've come to discover, the text is basically the same in any Bible whether it's a cheap paperback Bible or an expensive premium bible. The layout may be different- single column or two column, paragraph style or verse by verse style, cross references or textual footnotes in the center column (for two column bibles), in the outer margins, or the inner margins, or at the bottom of the page or no cross references or textual footnotes at all- the message is the same. Yes, the leather smell and the beautiful art gilding would be nice, but I don't think anybody has ever been brought closer to God because their bible smelled good or because it had beautiful blue under gold art gilding. That's just my opinion and I hope I didn't offend anybody who purchased a premium bible or is thinking about purchasing one. Just be sure you're doing it for the right reason. There are a lot of non- premium bibles online that cost a fraction of what a premium bible costs, and they are absolutely beautiful.

    • @TheKJVStore
      @TheKJVStore  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your insightful and honest comment. You're absolutely right in that it's what's on the inside that counts more than the exterior appearance. And yes the KJV is the KJV, whether $3 paperback to $300 Goatskin Leather. BUT, the point to keep in mind is that for the true bible warrior (think pastor, Christian worker, full-time ministry people) or people who read and use their bible every single day, some who even read through the entire bible multiple times a year... a cheaply made bible is going to fall apart, period. Cheap can still look pretty (think Christian Art Bibles), yes, but cheap does not last. Hence, we seem to sell the most premium leather bibles to full-time workers and people who use their bibles every single day (and/or preach from it twice a week) and they need it to LAST. Think in terms of Note Taking too. Do you want to take the time to outline whole sermons in your bible or make extensive notes, only to have your bible fall apart in a year and get to do it all over again in a new bible? That's where the importance of quality materials, the manufacturing process, and binding expertise matters most. Just food for thought. God Bless.
