On a side note, if Honda were to make another EV, I would like them to revive the 1st gen Insight styling with 200-250 miles of range at minimum. The newer Insight looked too much like the Civic, so I would like to see the cool, aerodynamic styling that made the 1st gen look futuristic. A 2 seat, fastback design would suffice for me.
They could bring that back as a Tesla Roadster competitor, put in a Hummer EV size battery and power, and call it an Acura. If pricing and styling are right, that’d be a cool Halo car.
they have another EV, the E:NP1, same range, for less than half price, in Asia it costs about 18-22k. And also, the tiny Honda-e in Europe and Asia, but battery pack and range suck.
Doug you should do a poll on which type of automatic shifter is best, with a large audience it would be interesting to see which type people prefer. A-rotary dial, B-column mechanical, C-column digital, D-push buttons, E- center console mechanical.
I've always liked "B" column shifts in automatics, especially for sedans and trucks. Frees up space for more useful purposes than touching it 2 times during the average trip. Not a fan of pushbuttons because I've learned most of those still use a motorized module on the transmission to move a shaft, rather than you doing it by shifting from park. Just one more thing that can leave you stranded.
Dont see the big deal about the headlights since you should just put them on auto and never have to think about it again. Maybe you should do your research and then you would know what the heat button does.
I've noticed Doug doesn't research many of the features in vehicles. He just sees something as quirky and therefore speaks on that without really knowing about it.
My uncle is a senior Honda tech in Miami and he says the new prologue is all GM, from motors to software. He says it’s just a rebadged Chevy and the dealer received a whole pallet of diagnostics equipment for the car
Honda and Acura have a huge problem. How do you sell someone a PROLOGUE over a PILOT? How do you sell a ZDX over a MDX A-spec? These cars, I believe lease well, but true Honda and Acura owners don’t want them.
Easy. I test drove Prologue along with new Pilot and CRV. Prologue had by far the best driving experience, sturdy interior and way better infotainment. GM infotainment really shines vs current Honda outdated TFT Nokia screens from 2002.
@@user-iv8jf3mr1k Yeah but if I wanted a GM dashboard and infotainment center, I'd buy a GM car like my great grandparents did 70 years ago. I want my Honda interior to look like a Honda.

Just listened to the most recent podcast and Doug calls out people commenting on his Instagram saying “the rx350 isn’t good because the x5 is faster to 60”. How is that different from this? Some people (arguably most) don’t care about 0-60 times. 6-8 seconds is more than adequate. Doug - be more consistent and stop berating cars you personally don’t like only to turn around and say people who do that to you “don’t understand real consumers”
I remember seeing one of these on the dealership showroom, and I almost burst out in laughter after popping the hood at the coolant reservoir with a giant ACDelco logo
I went from a CR-V hybrid to the Prologue. It is fast as hell compared to that and to me 6 seconds to 60 for a 5000lb vehicle is pretty good. Because it is electric the power is always on tap and you don't have to wait for the transmission to kick down and the engine to rev, it just goes. I like that it looks like a normal vehicle. Not overstyled or weird looking with creases and fake vents everywhere. There's not another EV that I really like the styling TBH. The new 3 looks good on the outside but no way do I want a vehicle that has almost all functions through the touch screen. Nor do I want buttons for the turn signals. It's hard enough getting used to the wipers being on the left along with the cruise settings. I like the buttons on the back of the steering wheel for forward and back for songs and volume but am still getting used to that. On top of that a $300 a month lease with no money down is super cheap.
Yes, you got it. I tested the Prologue vs new CRV and immediately noticed how much better Prologue is at everything, especially acceleration, even FWD Prologue is very good. But most people commenting never drove the Prologue and never will repeating old bias against GM.
We leased our EX AWD for all the reasons he said, Honda dealership, a good relationship with them, a fairly deal, and a huge leap forward from a CRV in terms of comfort, performance and styling. 300 miles in and no regrets yet. I can’t believe he didn’t mention the one pedal driving, cause it’s fantastic. Clearly he didn’t push the button and engage it and use it or he’s so jaded at this point from the incredible cars He drives that it’s just a non-feature.
It’s a shame Doug had to get into politics on this one. Not sure there was a need for that. But totally his channel and his choice. One of the many great things about America! (That Honda wouldnt exist if Tesla wasn’t around.)
As in most European countries....Now nine Honda dealers are disappearing in Norway 16 May 2019 - Last year, no more than 922 Hondas were sold in the Norwegian market. This resulted in a record low market share of 0.6 per cent.
Why are brands slowly getting rid of rear badges for the name spelt out instead? Surely this is more expensive than a single badge? It's a trend I've been noticing for last couple of years as more manufacturers begin do it, and now Honda have joined in. I thought the goal of badges was to get famous enough that people recognise your brand without spelling it out. Maybe this is no longer the case?
It's a case of "uniqueness" and a subversion of brand recognition. Their logo is recognizable at this point, so spelling out their brand subverts usual design language and instills a sense of premium-ness.
@@Lorentz_Driver I guess that makes sense, but there are examples where the cars were not premium at all. Older Toyota pickups all used to have "TOYOTA" spelled out on their tailgates. Never saw that as a premium vehicle. It also stops being unique when they all start doing it. Then it will come full circle and the badges will return lol.
my guess is that it has to do with the Chinese market that every brand wants to get into. and in that market, people might not actually know how to spell various brands. so they need to be "educated". and then they can search for them online, and hopefully buy one.
In Canada it is only sold in 3 provinces and seems to be on order only as I haven’t seen one on the road neither in dealerships. Seems like a compliance car more than anything like the MX-30 from Mazda.

New EV typically don’t have FRUNKS because the data showed most buyers don’t us the Frunk. Doesn’t help to keep rating vehicles on features they lack because of bean counters.
What data? Tesla dominates the market, and do they share their data? Sure, if you survey 199 adult Americans who have never seen a frunk, "Do you use it daily?", they'll be like, huh? Put my purse, milk and eggs on top of the engine? I don't even know how to open the hood! 😂

Two things can be true. I actually don’t mind Elon. His work and current antics are two separate things. Which is a shame because I think that diminishes his perception.
Most people dont use frunks because most manufacturers don't make them easy to use. You often have to go into the car cabin and press a button, or use a latch like with a normal hood. Give the user a power frunk with a button on the key fob, and more people would use them.

Literally not a Honda just a Blazer EV
Literally a Honda (in name only) and actually a Blazer is closer to what we have here. Blazer EV ain't bad. It's nice too.
@cbotten It's a GM car, so it's low-quality trash.
@@TheSh4dowgale you just have no clue. New GM EVs are amazing.
@@00_UU 😆😆
Legally it's a Honda. If I went down to the Chevy dealer and asked to buy a Prologue, they'd send me down the street to the Honda dealer.
Haha, everyone who watches the podcasts knows Doug's relationship with this car.
They had a "relationship". Come on now, dish it!
"in our focus groups, customers don't want frunks"
Is what i would say too if i developed a vehicle without one.
My uncle is a senior Honda tech in Miami and he says the new prologue is all GM, from motors to software. He says it’s just a rebadged Chevy and the dealer received a whole pallet of diagnostics equipment for the car
i got an ad for the 2024 Honda Prologue while watching this video
Honda and Acura have a huge problem.
How do you sell someone a PROLOGUE over a PILOT?
How do you sell a ZDX over a MDX A-spec?
These cars, I believe lease well, but true Honda and Acura owners don’t want them.
I cannot fathom a Honda loyalist buying one of these.
@@John_Locke_108 why? Do you realize that Honda interior is worse? I bought only Honda and Acura for 25 years and now drive new-ish GM car and love it. I test drove Prologue along with CRV and Pilot. Both were inferior to Prologue. GM infotainment is amazing, way better quality than anything OG Honda right now.
@@user-iv8jf3mr1k I'm just going by the memory of my last Honda which was a 2001 Civic. I really liked it.
This guy should tell a story on Vin Wiki, he’s probably owned a few wagons or something.
Doug, we love you Doug
We leased our EX AWD for all the reasons he said, Honda dealership, a good relationship with them, a fairly deal, and a huge leap forward from a CRV in terms of comfort, performance and styling. 300 miles in and no regrets yet. I can’t believe he didn’t mention the one pedal driving, cause it’s fantastic. Clearly he didn’t push the button and engage it and use it or he’s so jaded at this point from the incredible cars He drives that it’s just a non-feature.
Doug is the kind of guy who turns on the ventilated seat 💺 when he farts 😮

It’s a shame Doug had to get into politics on this one. Not sure there was a need for that. But totally his channel and his choice. One of the many great things about America! (That Honda wouldnt exist if Tesla wasn’t around.)
He's in California, land of blue hair and safe spaces
Are you dumb? Tesla didn't invent the electric car.
As in most European countries....Now nine Honda dealers are disappearing in Norway
16 May 2019 - Last year, no more than 922 Hondas were sold in the Norwegian market.
Very good point. I can probably name a dozen cars doing this now and I have no idea why it’s a new trend.
Hey! I love my ID.4. At $17.5k it was a STEAL!

Someone clearly has something against Elon now.
In Canada it is only sold in 3 provinces and seems to be on order only as I haven’t seen one on the road neither in dealerships. Seems like a compliance car more than anything like the MX-30 from Mazda.
should have had 30 years of research and development and we would have EVs that could charge in 1 hour and go 1000 miles but oil money bought politicians and auto company stocks and we got nothing just look at cell phone battery improvements over the same timeline
Dome light controls in the center screen is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen
Boyyyy have we been waiting for this one 🤣

New EV typically don’t have FRUNKS because the data showed most buyers don’t us the Frunk.
Doesn’t help to keep rating vehicles on features they lack because of bean counters.
My EV frunk is used daily, because it exists...😂
They lack that feature because the design wasn't well laid out. Any EV should have space to spare....and many don't.
What data? Tesla dominates the market, and do they share their data? Sure, if you survey 199 adult Americans who have never seen a frunk, "Do you use it daily?", they'll be like, huh? Put my purse, milk and eggs on top of the engine? I don't even know how to open the hood! 😂
Not attacking you personally, but that is like "justifying" the removal of the headphone jack. It's like yeah I don't use is all the time but it's an amazing feature to have.
Gotta LOVE DeMuro, nice to see someone stick in their own value

They didn't have an EV ready for the revolution, so they cribbed off GM's paper. The only one getting screwed is the traditional Honda customer who walks into a GM without fair warning.

Most people dont use frunks because most manufacturers don't make them easy to use. You often have to go into the car cabin and press a button, or use a latch like with a normal hood. Give the user a power frunk with a button on the key fob, and more people would use them.
