We’ve got our hands on a Porsche 996 911 Turbo S and it’s going up against… A Skoda Superb?!
Think it sounds like an unfair match-up? Well, let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbo flat-six that produces 450hp and 620Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs 1,630kg. When new, the 911 Turbo cost around £101,000.
Then we come to the Skoda. Normally, its 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo produces 280hp and 350Nm of torque. However, this Superb has been tuned! As a result, it now puts down 477hp and 661Nm! Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch, and it weighs slightly more than the Porsche, tipping the scales at 1,670kg.
So the Skoda has more power than the Porsche, but it’s slightly heavier! So can an all-new family-friendly Skoda really take down a Porsche? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

I mean the 996 and even the 992 Turbo have heavier engines, transmissions and AWD systems than this 4 cylinder FWD haldex based estate car;
Those components alone account for 70%+ of a car’s mass, not to mention that we now have vastly more advanced computers and alloys that allow weight to be shed without negatively impacting Chassis rigidity!

I have a 2016 Skoda Superb 280 4 x 4 with 360bhp. A Revo Stage 1 tune added 80bhp with no other mods. Plenty enough for me & it can really shift when needed, with or without an Ikea wardrobe in the back. Most practical car out there at a sensible price when bought as a used 2 year old car.
I have to say the Skoda Suberb is looking very Suberb

Few launches like this and the transmission will take its toll on the Skoda
You can get 400 from a Golf R with just a tune, no mods... So 477 isn't that hard.

The turbos are gorgeous, the base 911’s are questionable. They’re certainly not the best generation though imo
@@E92TilInfinitythe base cars are very pretty once you lower them and change the wheels. The C4S 996 is arguably one of the prettiest 911’s in stock form imo.
Agreed 100%. The C4S was the first Porsche that really caught my eye back in 2002. The red beam of rear taillights (tho the mid section is merely a long reflector) made it stood out even more than the Turbo. 6 speed of course and 320 horses if I remember correctly without googling.

After 20 years? With a 20 year Porsche, put to drag with the new 992 Turbo s, and the Skoda is a tuned car. A fair race is a Skoda 105MB with a Porsche 964 turbo, both with rear engine, and slap this.
Porsche was a super car 20 years ago, Scoda with stage 3 tuned engine about the same price as stock porsche. Now - mid range chinese electirc car will make them both.

Being in Canada where we don't have a lot of cool cars, I actually like that Skoda! Sounds like it's kind of a joke over there but I love the spec, that's a great shade of green with the brown leather.

Big applause to Skoda and tuner for a tuned car doing 5 dragraces and rolling races without any issues power or transmission. That's a extremely rare thing when modified cars are part of the line up....

To have it tuned on the L and K rather than the sport line makes it even funnier when you beat cars that are meant to be faster
I must admit the last minuts without mat's annoying words were the best moments in watching a carwow drag race
Clearly the engine on the superb has more than a turbo and spark plugs.
Who has ever owned and tinkered with a turbo petrol engine knows that there's also custom downpipe, intake, bigger intercooler.
All in all around 5k invested, at least, and that engine will be taken out and rebuilt in a couple of years. They don't hold very well stock pistons, rings, valve springs and bottom end over 400hp
Stock Superb 2.0TSI 280ps engine has in reality much more, around 310PS, when u make just ECU upgrade u can get 390PS.
@@davosworks I've worked with 2.0tsi and i also have a Mazda 6 mps at home.
The stock intake can't flow that good to have reliable over 400hp.
The injectors have to be upgraded also the internals of the hpfp.
Mazda 6 mps for example even though it's a 2.3L can only do around 320 reliable on stock injectors and 98-100 petrol, and maybe 350hp on E30.
You need Golf R injectors for that engine to get over 400, stronger hpfp internals, a downpipe and a bigger inlet for the turbo.
The 280ps are on 98 octane RON, and 310 are doable with petrol over 100RON number.
To get to 390ps just a tune you have to have better flowing injectors, hpfp upgrade, and E30
I own Skoda Octavia TDI Combi 140 HP (modified) since 1999 and serve to me very good ! Its not snapy like those two cars in test but still very dinamic !😉👌
