    I love that you show that there could be errors, like when you showed what happens when the paint gets rough. Happens to me all the time and I never hear anyone saying how to fix it.

      I am very thankful for your comment! I try to keep my videos short and concise since I know people just want the information rather than a long explanation. However, do let me know if
      1. Some part in the video was hard to see
      2. You want more explanation on something
      Or let me know if there's something you would like to see, and I'll see if I can make a video about it.

      @@i.r.o.4456 alrighty! I’m mainly only worrying about brands now since it looks like the type of paint depends on the brand. Would all Tamiya work? Tamiya primer, spray paint, and clear coat. They’re all lacquer so the coats shouldn’t destroy each other right?

    • @i.r.o.4456

    I noticed that there are a lot of different colors of primer. Does it matter which one I pick? I’m gonna paint an mg astray red frame soon. Only gonna be spraying over the red parts with a darker metallic red.

    • @i.r.o.4456
      @i.r.o.4456  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The primer does make a difference at a technical level. So in your case it would not matter so go ahead. Good luck!
      My only concern is that metallic paints tend to chip easier than most, so hobby a glossy surface or primer helps paint adhere to the surface better

    Hi and thank you for the video! How many cans are necessary to prime an HG 1/144 kit? I assume that if you apply multiple coats, you end using a lot of paint!

      If it’s a big can then only one. Small one would be two. Even with two coats the can holds pretty well to cover an HG kit

    • @i.r.o.4456

      Not necessarily.
      If you are planning to get a mirror finish paint job, then yes, you will have to sand and polish the surface before priming and painting.
      Most of time you wouldn’t need to.

    • @i.r.o.4456
      @i.r.o.4456  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer tamiya masking tapes, but any hobby masking tapes are fine. The sticks aren’t necessary, but they do help hold the parts for spraying

    hi, i'm planning to paint my gunpla kit but having a hard time choosing the primer. i'm mainly use mr hobby brand for my kit (that's the only brand sold in the store near me) and i saw a lot of types like mr surfacer 1000 or 1500, mr primer surfacer 1000, mr finishing surfacer. so which one should i get before i start painting?
    ps: i'm going to use mr color spray paint

    • @i.r.o.4456
      @i.r.o.4456  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on how you finished the surface, it does vary. If you sanded the surface with 1000 or less, then surfacer 1000 is recommended as it would fill in any scratches you’ve made with sanding. 1500 is recommended if you haven’t sanded the surface or sanded the surface with more than 1000 grit.
      In my opinion however, the change is almost unnoticeable unless you have really keen attention to detail. So anything works

    • @kamalasyari2392
      @kamalasyari2392 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@i.r.o.4456 thank you. this is the answer i'm looking for. you clear the part about sanding before apply the surfacer. i'm was curious what will happen to those sanding mark when apply the surfacer. so now i can stop sanding at 1000grit and continue with the mr surfacer 1000.
      oh, is there a different between surfacer and primer? all i know is they both use before we start to paint. mr hobby also had that come in both which is mr primer surfacer

    • @i.r.o.4456
      @i.r.o.4456  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly both primer and surfacer are similar in what they do. Surfacer is more for seeing scratches and mistakes as well as priming, where as primers can act similarly but used more for priming.

    • @i.r.o.4456
      @i.r.o.4456  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Primer ultimately does two things. To see mistakes in the surface and to allow paints to adhere to the surface better.
      However, in my opinion you would not need primer to paint models if you are using hobby paints and now arts and crafts paints. Hobby paint sticks to the surface exceptionally well where as other paints tend to chip off easily.
      If you are painting without primer though, then I recommend cleaning the parts with dish soap since any dirt or residue on the surface might interferes with the painting process.
      Good luck and let me know if anything g goes wrong or any other question you might have!
