I would not buy it from Amazon they sell them at $10-$15 a piece. Plenty of online hobby shops sell them. Buy it in bulk (3-5 sets) so that you can offset the flat rate shipping cost.

Tip 1. When you are cleaning your airbrush, increase the air pressure by ten to fifteen psi. Tip 2.use lint free scientific tissue wet with thinner to clean the inside of your paint cup and the outside of airbrush. 3. A 1:2 ratio of paint to thinner will help you achieve candy paint( and is my go to ratio in general) 4.apply photo etch parts with glue before you paint to ensure a strong hold( most hobby glues eat paint). 5. Use an explosion proof exhaust fan when painting with lacquer because the fumes are flammable( the fan is usually more powerful as well and will keep your environment fume free). 6. The distance you hold your part away from the spray will change the texture of the finished paint 7. Use a moisture trap as water will cause a splatter effect and ruin your finish( I do my painting near a fish tank so I use one on my tank and my gun) 8. Make sure you use the rapid drying thinner for metallic colors or the metal flakes will sink into the paint and effect the metallic look 9. Always use the slower drying thinner for non-metallic colors to ensure a perfect finish 10. Always use a static free brush on your parts to get rid of the static electric buildup from sanding that will attract dust to your paint job

I've recently (almost) finished a custom paint of the GM Sniper II, using spray cans by Mr Hobby.
To give a bit more details, one spray can is (at my shop) a bit two times more expensive than the same color in a pot (almost 3 euros for a pot of paint and almost 8 euros for the spray can).
There are a lot less colors for spray can than for regular paint.
And my main concern with spray cans is how quickly they get empty. Espcially for primer, it took me two cans of primer to achieve the robot and shield (haven't done its weapons yet), and I only did one coat. It seems to me that spray cans are less durable than thinned paint from what I've seen.
So yeah, Studio G is right, plan your color scheme people, don't rush as I did, or you'll lose time, effort and money (at least you get to learn the hard way).
And as for the finnished result : I'm really satisfied with spray cans. Nothing to complain about.

Based on my experience with the airbrush, I recommend evacuating the pot with water before you put airbrush cleaner through your airbrush. A toothbrush soaked in airbrush cleaner is your friend, especially when spraying bright acrylic paints. If your airbrush starts to spatter when you spray, take the toothbrush and gently scrub the tip of the airbrush, give it a blast of air, then give it a test on something expendable. if it's still spattering loosen the chuck on the needle back the needle out just a bit and give it a blast of air (might want to turn the pressure up) and any chunks that may have accumulated in the brass tip should come flying out. Reseat the needle, gently scrub the tip of your airbrush and repeat the test. Other things to consider are using airbrush flow improver instead of thinner. Vellejo thinner has a tendency to speed up drying time, whereas Vellejo flow improver slows down drying time. Also, keep in mind that some airbrush cleaner might have some fumes. Vellejo airbrush cleaner is pretty mild in terms of the smell and does good work without over powering you.

@@StudioGundam Look up Next Level Painting on youtube, Kenny mostly paints Warhammer miniatures but his videos on how to troubleshoot issues with the airbrush are super helpful. Most of my experience comes from getting nonairbrush Vellejo paints and P3 acrylics to run through the airbrush so my advice might not be as helpful for someone that is using enamel or lacquer based paints.

Great video! Best way I can describe AB vs SprayCan is that SprayCan is like an automatic vehicle, while AirBrushing is like driving a manual. Also, I’ve found that spray canning leaves A LOT of overspray that doesn’t reach the model, (due to distance) making it a bit less efficient. Both are great options however!

I started with airbrush. It is quite expensive. I use lacquer base paints, Gaianotes are my favorite. I use some alclad paints every now and then. I am in the process of mixing my paints with the right amount of thinner. It was a pain to get the proper twist top squeeze bottles that work. A lot of the paints will take about 2-3 weeks to get to you, so doing all of your panel lines and adding the extras might keep you busy untill they arrive. It was a learning curve, however it has been worth it. Thank you so much for making these vids.

I know I'm going to necro an old video by saying this but, you absolutely can control the flow of paint from a compressed can. Anyone who's ever tagged will know this. Remove the nozzle, use your finger. It's not something that can be picked up overnight and takes a boatload of practice but it's 100% possible. Airbrush is training wheels. Well...and less messy lol

pre-shading is an either-or thing with rattlecans, spray paint is generally very opaque so you're either using them exclusively to shade when priming, or you're just not shading with it at all. if you want to pre-shade with rattlecans you do it just to set up values, then you smooth out the transitions with a brush and then glaze on thin layers of transparent paint - also with a brush. this takes a very long time with small figures, I cannot imagine doing it on a gundam, lol

Hi, I'm a huge fan of your channel. I'd like to see more tips and details of spray-painting. Because I'm a beginner at spray-painting and I experienced stuff like the part becomes thick after paint so I had problems reassemble the parts back together. Also sometimes the spray just comes out really bad and turns out the can is almost empty. Stuff like those. Looking forward to your tips! Thanks!

Zenathol primers are about the only way I could think of pre shading I don’t know how that would work on Gunpla though, it works great on miniatures like Warhammer AoS/40K though.

How many clear coats do you apply on a build?
Just started my first custom paint job on a 1/100 Barbatos. Do I seal with clear gloss before panel line and then finish with matte? Or skip the clear gloss and panel line directly onto fresh paint? Also, what thinner should I use to clean up after panel line if I used a lacquer gloss?
Love the videos, keeps inspiring me to do better!!
