      Bigger is not always better, to big could hinder flow for horsepower. Check out engine masters on motor trend they to explain things although they do use V8’s but the explanation is the same on any motor

      I agree that it's a balance of flow and velocity to match the block and intake manifold but I think Mike is trying to point out that ultimately if you restrict your flow you loose horsepower and if your going for 1000hp you will need the max flow available

    The highest output "OEM" build is based on the following:
    06-08 K24A2 block
    K20A2 Head
    06-08 TSX cams
    RSX Type-S cam gear
    Type-S oil pump

    My personal tip is when it comes to headers if you’re not going with a compression higher then 12.5:1 then don’t do a big tube 4-1 header. All stock block K’s need a big tube 4-2-1 header preferably like a TRI-Y design header because they flow very well and it keeps carrying the power range up top instead of falling down like 4-1 headers tend to do. Yes 4-1 headers will makes more power but they suffer up top with stock compression K’s and it’s pointless to have a lot of power if you can’t even deliver it right. I’ve come to this realization after seeing the dyno graphs on many many K cars my tuner has messed with and feeling it myself on my personal car when I made the change since I’m on a stock block 24 👍

    • @soto575
      @soto575 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you thr the question is how much ho can you get from that build without raising the Cp 12.5:1 or higher because you gonna spend a lot of money.

    I know there’s a lot of information here and you don’t want to overwhelm the listeners, but talking about cams would also be good to note, such as the most aggressive oem cams (best bang for the buck is ‘06 tsx cam. And talk about a couple after market cams. Also the 50 degree cam gear/sensor

    • @GrantOakes
      @GrantOakes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw in another channel that aftermarket cams can cause issues with the chain tensioners. Boosted engines really don't need any cams other than stock to get up to 800hp.

    You should have talked about stock cam options for those who don’t want to break tensioners with aftermarket cams. Tsk 06-08 are the best but I’ve seen some interesting mix and match depending on which style of head you are running because the intake only vtec heads have a lot of potential and actually work with a turbo very well without vtec killer

    I am planning to swap K20 with K24. Which assembly parts will be replaced and which K20 parts will keep running as it is? Blocks, Cyclinder head, Headers?
    The reason I want to do this is to achieve same Horsepower and low-end torque as CL9 with Stock K24.
    Can someone explain in detail?

    So I'm that guy that picked up a super cheap k24a4. I do plan on putting a 8th gen si head on it and have heard about the piston interface to the k20 head. I always assumed there is an aftermarket solution as you mentioned but haven't dug too deep into it yet.....what are your recommendations for pistons and rods when using a k24a4? Fyi I plan to do NA initially, but want to build the internals to hold boosted power in the future.

    • @diymike
      @diymike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      a simple H beam Rod and aftermarket turbo pistons around 10.1 compression should do the trick. the sell pistons specifically for k20/k24 setups. you're looking to spend around 700-1000 for a simple piston and rod set up.

    Can the cams and rocker assembly from a PRB (Type-S) head be installed in a PPA head? I am not sure if it will be less work for me but trying to figure out a way to use my RBB intake manifold with less cutting and welding. This is an amazing video! Thanks for putting it together!

    Mike, what a great video man, been looking for this info for a long time, so thank you very much. For all of us 9th gen Civic Si Owners, with the “unhappy” k24z7 engine. It’s the same build that for the k24z1? I mean, relocate oil filter, type s oil pump, block oil jet, change pistons, use k24 head gasket ?. Aaand... for the engine management, is the stock ecu with Hondata Flashpro or Ktuner enough ? I’m thinking our engine comes with intake vtec only (yeah, so sad!)

      I'm sure there's a few that might run Amsoil, but for everyone else including me, likes running to their nearest walmart to grab quality fullsyn oil off the shelf is convenient as well as the price i.e. Mobil1 or Pennzoil.
      5W-30 is a go to for anyone that lives in the rust belt

    you mentioned in the video that A4 and Z blocks will need aftermarket piston rod combo so they do not interfere with the k20 head, but it was unclear if that is also the case on the A1 CRV block. can the head be installed to the stock short block without any interference?
