    I've been riding Guzzi's since my first 86 V65 Lario, they have been loads of fun to ride, solid, and reliable. Certainly one of the most underrated brands here in the USA. My new V100 has already been ordered.

    I took a test ride on a V100 to replace my Triumph 1050ST Sprint. I was just as impressed as you with the basic bike. Your brief test did not even scratch the surface as to how good the bike is, for this you need to get it onto twisty mountain roads. Following my test ride out came the credit card and I am now the owner of a V100S. IMO the semi active suspension turns a very good bike into a superb bike, on the highways you can use TOUR mode to give a soft and relaxed ride that eats the miles then with a flick of the switch as you exit the highway for the twisty bits you select ROAD mode and it tightens the whole plot for long distance two up touring fast riding on twisty mountain roads. The bike eats miles while being quite aggressive, Sport mode is a bit too aggressive for long distance riding with two people but sure is a blast with just the rider. After two weeks in Northern Spain riding the roads in the Pyrenees mountains my conclusion is the suspension, power delivery and ease of throwing a big bike into tight switchback corners along with the comfort for both passenger and rider make for a superb aggressive touring motorcycle. I am sure that if you play specification top trumps with a BMW the BMW will win the showroom competition but get the V100S on a challenging road and it pays the rider with pure pleasure.

    A very professional review of this bike, better than any others that I have watched or read. I am glad that you covered some of the company's history. I just purchased a Navale almost a month ago. I wasn't to crazy about the other colors available. I am not into red, the white looked much better in pictures than in person, looked bland to me. I visited the dealership to ask a question about my T120 and a Navale was sitting on the floor. Now that is a great looking bike I thought, two days later it was in my garage. One of the nice things about it is that it has additional features that the base model does not have but without some of those things the S has that I don't need. I wasn't really interested in the special edition per se but since I have read quite a bit about the history of Moto Guzzi I am thrilled to be somewhat connected to it now. This is my third Guzzi having owned an Audace and also have a V7lll Special in the Garage. You have obviously done much research into the company, I thought I knew quite a bit about MG but I learned more from your video. Thanks, I have subscribed and I am looking forward to more reviews as well as checking out those that have been posted in the past .

  •  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Best review ever for the historic notes... many thxs! on the final notes, on the comparison with the S you forgot to mention that for those extra 2000 you also get the semiactive ohlins suspension, that makes some diference on worse roads... maybe not that important in US roads, but here in Europe... Congrats! great video!

    I just replaced the V85TT that I lost in an accident, but really loved. I bought the V100 Mondello Aviazione Navale limited edition because it had the things I wanted and not the expensive suspension and nav. That engine is incredible. So much low end torque and smoothly building power. I also think it is one of the best looking motorcycles ever. The handling is superb and the brakes are the best I have ever used. Not quite as comfortable as the V85TT, but still quite good. Just an awesome bike!

    • @riddlerrides
      @riddlerrides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I am approaching the comparison from the perspective that a rider like me is looking for a very sporty bike that has the capacity to tour. I believe the V100 is in a unique category - more sport than tour, my 80-20 category as I mention. I have not yet tested the Tuono (I plan to soon) but it appears to be marketed as the "approachable" sport bike with comfort for commuting. I contend that the V100 can potentially dip into that market space.

      @@riddlerrides Thanks for your response. Looking forward to your take on the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 once you've had a chance to ride it AND how you compare it to the V100.
      I see the BMW R 1250 RS as a closer 'natural' comparison, though that bike is up on power and torque versus the V100 and has had multiple development cycles to get it to where it is today.

      I think the Stelvio version will have a tough time competing in that segment. Mind you, if they ditch the V85 and put the Stelvio in that price range, it'd be cool. We'll see. I'm hoping to see a fully faired model like the Norge again.

  • @ThatGermanFella
    @ThatGermanFella ปีที่แล้ว

    The V100 is more like a power cruiser (think MG Griso or even Yamaha V-Max) than a long distance tourer, it just does not have the wind protection or luggage capacity like a true long distance tourer. It can handle multi day rides just fine but with the mentioned limitations. As a power cruiser with a bias towards a 1000cc upright like the Tuono or the XR is where it really shines. You little test ride did not even scratch the surface how much of a gem this motor is and how much pulling power it has ... I truly think MG pulled a BMW and heavyly under rated this bike numbers wise.

      It’s No power Cruiser, it is far closer to a sports bike in ROAD or SPORT mode as I found out during 2000 miles of riding the mountains of Northern Spain.

    Excellent video and review! I noticed that the bars look more tubular than sport like a BMW RS 1250. How was that? Also I am looking at this bike and a BMW RS 1250 sport tourer. How do you think they compare? I recently test rode the RS and liked it. I am trying to test ride the Moto Guzzi for comparison. Did the Guzzi to you seem like a bike you can easily manage around town and not just on the highway? Any thoughts?

    • @riddlerrides
      @riddlerrides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% perfect for around town riding and super comfortable. I received a lot of feedback that the true comparison is the RS 1250. Honestly I just don’t like the way the RS looks. The Mandello is a work of art.

  • @kingkrimson8771
    @kingkrimson8771 ปีที่แล้ว

    When mentioning the extra features you get on the "S" model you left out the most important (and costly) one - the Ohlins semi-active suspension. Every other extra feature can be added to the base model - except that gorgeous two-tone paint of course.
    By the way, the Mandello does have self-cancelling turn signals, but they take so long to cancel that they are essentially useless. Maybe MG can solve this with a software update.

    • @riddlerrides
      @riddlerrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct sir. Its probably worth mentioning that most folks would not likely feel the difference between the base and the Ohlins. The base model suspension handled beautifully. That two-tone paint is definitely eye-catching. Thanks for watching and commenting.
