Just looking at it from a spectators point of view, I think it is a lovely looking bike. Given that "Europe Wide" speed limits are being enforced more severely, the days of the 180 mph motorcycle are likely to become less frequent. To me at least, the idea of a touring holiday, is to ride at a speed where you can actually look at your surroundings as opposed to them being a blurr! This will give you the ability to do that and convey you to your destination in style and comfort. 10/10 M.G. you've created a lovely sports tourer!
I've (probably because of my English) some trouble to understand your comment (even if I share your touring bike idea); from what you write it seems that the V100 is not powerful enough, but (actually) it has the right horsepower to be who it is: a sport-tourer good and fun even on mixed-roads. I went from a Ducati Streetfighter 1098 to a V7 III stone and haven't looked back. I had a big bore kit installed and that brought it more to life. I plan on keeping it for life if possible

Got back and googled the power and couldn't believe it was only 47bhp or around there. I'm sure the V100 will be the same, it will feel much quicker than a 115bhp engine or whatever it is
Guzzi has hit the mark: what an innovative model for the “eagle-factory”! Surprising aerodynamics, new drive and adequate panache for any “real world situation”... Looking forward to a road test!
The Griso is harsh, but once you fall in love with it it's brilliant. I have one 1200SE. Can't wait to ride the V100. But, is there place to Le Mans, Griso and V100 in my garage?

I've never ridden a Guzzi, never been that interested to be honest. This model however has got me sufficently interested to at least find out where my nearest dealer is.
It's amazing how consistently motorcycle journalists get the transverse/longitudinal thing wrong! Moto Guzzis have LONGITUDINALLY mounted engines! Harleys etc. have transversaly mounted engines. It's determined by the direction of the crank shaft. All conventional singles, parallel and V twins, in line 4s, and all tripples exept the Triumph Rocket 3 are transverse, Guzzis, Boxers, and the Rocket Triple are longitudinal!
Just watched this video while researching the V100. I noticed Michael got the definition of transverse vs. longitudinal back-to-front. I was going to post something, then I saw your post. You are 100 percent correct. It amazes me how many motor cyclists get this one wrong. Nice to know I'm not on my own. Always good for a discussion at any gathering of motorcyclists!
Excellent review as usual, I am impatiently waiting for my V100 S to arrive sometime in January. Been wanting this beautiful machine since I first saw it last year. I really feel it will be well worth the wait.
Red with the gold wheels in S form would have me seriously twitching to replace my 9yr old Crosstourer DCT as a perfect 3k 2up tour partner. I could never go back to a chain for a touring bike.
A great looking bike and a huge step forward for Guzzi. I would have thought the closest competitor though would be the Ducati Supersport 950. Italian, 1000ish cc, 115ish hp, V Twin, Sports Tourer... I was seriously considering the Duc but now this has got me rethinking it. I would love to hear your thoughts about how the two compare.
Was waiting for Michael to review this particular bike! And looking forward to his follow-up. Guzzi's best-ever bike (it sure seems), and hugely desirable even against some pretty damned good competition. And the most important point he made was it was designed for a purpose, not to be a place-holder in a line-up that needs to be super quick or brash. Will be in the Eternal Garage!
When I first saw the Mandello's lines an old model from Yamaha popped in, the TDM900. The v100's design however pleases my eyes in it's every detail compared to the old TDM. It's such a beatiful bike.
What a thoughtful and thought-provoking review. Thanks for that. At last someone has put more emphasis on the importance of a 'bike being interesting and rewarding to ride, and not the out-and-out performance.
One of the things I loved about my v11 Scura was having to match the revs while shifting. The engaging ride experience (and the sound ). I also loved it wasn’t a licence killer. The power in this is plenty. Much the same as my Z900rs which I just moved on in preparation. Nice review, great bike.
Just test road one yesterday and all the things you say about the ergonomics were spot on for me too! Bike was incredibly comfortable for me. I'm coming from a 2012 Diavel so it did feel slightly underpowered but its so smooth that I didn't really care. I am not in the market for a new bike but wanted to give one a go. Now I'm seriously considering it!
How interesting, I have p/x my 2011 Diavel for a v100, I used the Diavel in a 3,500 miles 8 country tour of Europe in August and it did the job, but - quick test ride and I know the V100 will be much more suited to the type of riding I want to do
I'm sold! Looks great and if it's half as good as you say then it has to be on my shopping list for the next bike. Great review, the best I've seen so far! Thank you.
Thanks Michael! You have confirmed my gut feeling about this bike. Can't wait for your future, more extensive/intensive, in the dry, testing of this bike.
Riding a Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport from 2011 at the moment and having lots of fun with it, I am very much interested to see their latest product. So promising! We'll see ... and thank you for the thoughtful introduction which helps me a lot!
Thank you Michael, been waiting for a proper 'Neevesy' evaluation of the V100, first saw the pictures 12 months ago and loved the look of the Mandello V100, it's been a long time in the making it seems, so to hear you loved it, it's great, as a self-confessed Sports bike rider, sadly in my getting older years now, a Sports Tourer is I think my best option, and probably the V100 direct competitor is the BMW RS and the two I would most be looking at, so it would be brill if you and MCN did a direct comparison in the coming months, just need to save some pennies now. 👍
Great to see another brilliant review from our favourite presenter. Really pleased that a small mention, comparing it to the R 1250 RS, which seems like the bike closest to it.
Thank you for throughout thoughts of this magnificent looking machine. I think, because this is so different against others, it will sell very well. Lot of "firsts" in this bike, too on Guzzis.
My deposit was ready for an S, but when I seen the gold wheels deleted, red instead of Orginal yellow stripe gone, to many colours really, the standard red or white ones are better looking with gold wheels. You can option the missing bits from the S, with the exception of the track day Ohlins suspension, which you dont need for touring. Best new bike in last 10 years, surprised Q/S works so well on dry clutch, engine heat will be a problem, less so in leathers. Only problem will be getting one in 2023, other manufacturers will be scratching their heads, cheap for what your getting.
Moto Guzzi LOVES rev matching. If you know the shift points and rev match properly the gearbox works PERFECT. Most people complain that it is clunky like a Harley but truth is....they are accurate, never fall in between gears and they plenty smooth at higher speeds. If you think that you can ride a Guzzi one time and discover all its corks and features or behavior...think again !!! They are acquired taste bikes for those few "different" kind of people.
😎 Thanks Michael, that's a great review. My good mate recently bought a V85TT which is lovely. We're both going to test ride the 'standard' V100 this week and can"t wait. We've both owned big V-twins in the past (Italian and Japanese) and love the power delivery and engine character. I think my wife will love riding pillion on this absolute beauty, too. Brilliant styling and the most exciting new model for me in a very, very long time. Tingles!
Mr. Neeves does a so much more in depth and interesting a review than the others I've watched. Michael always gets to the heart and soul of the bike and tells us about the character of the bike and what kind of rider will fit with that particular machine. He is unmatched -- even against those 22 times two naughty Pommie boys. Looks like someone has setup a home video studio for Michael that really ups the production values. Very good lighting, clear audio and nice editing touches. The occasional hunting in the camera focus seems sometimes intentional and sometimes inadvertent.
Thank you for your comprehensive review; it makes me wanting to go back to Guzzi again! (I was a proud owner of a 850 Le Mans III and of a 1000 Le Mans back in the 80’s and 90’s)
After taking a v100 S out for a test drive I bought a pre-registered v100 for £10.2k, I collect in a few days but already booked into MCT suspension for Darren to work his magic. What a bike, wasn’t sure of the white paint scheme but in the flesh it looks fantastic
I finally just had a chance to demo the Mandello S here stateside. Very impressive bike. When the small spoilers opened, I could tell they were diverting the air out and around my torso, so they actually do work to make the cockpit a comfortable place to put in the miles. Plus, it's stunning to look at. Much better looking than all the gobbledygook Ducati has been throwing at us for the last several years. I'd love to have one in my garage.
I think the flaps may be more for preventing buffeting at higher speeds than redirecting belly air. Bikes with smaller screens are often really good at sending turbulent air at the helmet. Preventing air from coming up from underneath and mixing with the air coming off the little screen likely prevents that to some degree. Cruisers have sold fork wings for ages to redirect that air from coming up around the tank and causing double vision at interstate speeds.
Great review of what looks like a great bike. In my late 60's, thought my Stelvio was my last bike, might have to rethink. Don't have to be sold on the brand, have owned 6. Greetings from New Zealand where some of the best motorcycling roads in the world are.
Currently researching sport-tourers for future purchase and for some reason have just never considered Moto Guzzi. Thanks for a great review that has me now rethinking and delving into Moto Guzzi.
A great open review from Mr Neeves, a Journo we can get a completely honest opinion from. Well, that’s refreshing to see such a positive review on a bike that if you only read the spec sheet and knew the past recent offerings from Moto Guzzi it would be easy to dismiss it as a no hoper. I saw a few shots of it and it’s a beautiful bike with a bit more exclusivity. I’ll be test riding one ASAP, it’s got my interest.
Stop it Neevesy, my banking account is feeling nervous !! Such an appealing bike, would be great for 95 +% of my riding ...love the std bike, a modern leMans look.
Last year (2021), I started bird-dawgin this Italian beauty. In September 2022, I gave Plano, Texas USA Moto Guzzi a $500 deposit. Early in the morning of 10/17/2022, I submitted my online “reservation” for the 2023 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Sport - “Centenario” Livery (premium Verde 2121 color) - Special Edition $17,490. The customer care representative told me my Order# 190 was the 1st V100 Mandello order received by Moto Guzzi USA. I’m SUPER EXCITED! To me, the V100 Mandello is STUNNINGLY EXOTIC & HANDSOME!
Did you get your bike? Have you had Guzzi's before? What are your impressions? Seriously considering getting one and would love to know of your experience so far. I owned a MG Daytona for twenty years and loved it. Thanks!
I have been waiting for this bike for 20 years! I have owned a Cali 3 and a lemans 3. The lemans had a big bore kit, custom exhaust, Corbin seat, 40mm dellorto's and a bigger Marzzoki front forks and rear sets. I did 250 kms commute for years on it. Loved her despite the pain in the wrists, back etc. At speeds above go to jail in Australia she was like a train and shamed many a boy on a sports bike if the roads smooth. However at low speed she provided great experience in getting air on a road bike! Always creamed about modern brakes and suspension. The big power increase is a bonus . Do miss the pumper carbs for excitement in the wet LOL. I want one.
That was an excellent presentation, full of details and insights that might prove very helpful for people interested in this beautiful motorbike, on top of it after only a day worth of riding. I would like to see in the coming months a direct compairison with some of the bikes you mentioned. I’m a more of a happy owner of a Ninja 1000sx on which I’ve covered 16000 kms in one year but am very tempted by this Moto Guzzi. Greetings from the continent
Beautiful bike. This was a very good review in that he gave a really thorough impression of the feeling/vibe of the V100, rounding it with some insight into the builders and ethos behind this Guzzi.
This is the review of the Mandello that I have been waiting for and I really think this will be the bike that breaks my thirty year relationship with Ducati. I was holding back on pulling the trigger until I hear what Michael had to say on it.
My relationship w/Ducati is 21 and counting as I've got a Monster 1200s now. I think the V100 would compliment the Monster very nicely. I just want an S w/gold wheels.
Nice video, thanks! Note that you got transverse and longitudinal engine layout muddled up. Transverse is crank parallel to wheel axles, i.e most inline fours. These guzzi twins are longitudinal, crank arranged so cylinders run front to back i.e Goldwing, Pan European, BMW GS, etc. Quite why guzzi say transverse is unbeknownst to me! Maybe because the cylinders stick out.
Excellent Review! Coming from someone with over 20 years of riding a multitude of bikes your opinion carries a lot of weight. Been waiting for a long time for a bike like this. Thanks
I don't care much for ADV bikes, but the way this bike looks calls to me. That green color just suits it perfectly too. I can't afford to get one now, in my riding career, but it's going on my list of bikes I would seriously like to own.
Nice review. I've 30" leg, so with the Guzzi I can sit on it a touch the ground. So many bikes these days, I can't put feet flat on on the road, especially adventure bikes. I own Pan European, no problem putting feet down with the Pan. My only complaint about the Guzzi is the front mudgaurd, which is useless (other brands also guilty of this). When it's wet, all the road shite will cake the front of the engine. Have seen a photo with panniers attached, looks great.
Beautiful, in-depth review. This bike is gorgeous. Love the look water cooled motor. Unique DRL, single sided swingle arm with shaft drive. The color is fantastic. I would buy one if a dealership was nearby In Hawaii.
I just looked at this bike yesterday and was very impressed. Build quality seems excellent and I like the styling. I understand that this is Moto Guzzi's first liquid-cooled engine. I know first attempts sometimes don't go well (like Porsche''s first water cooled engines) so this would be a concern for me. And yes it does site quite a bit lower than my Africa Twin.
This is what I’ve been waiting for. I had the end of line Griso 1200SE and loved it but ultimately not comfortable enough. Rock hard suspension too. I don’t weigh much and had to back off the suspension a lot. The rear was on its softest setting but on anything but glass smooth roads it was painful, especially with that seat. I still managed two 400mile back to back days taking it to the Guzzi factory in Mandela via the Swiss alps in 2019 for the ‘factory open weekend’ though. I needed an air hawk seat mind…. The ‘S’ is too much money. If I sold both my current bikes I could squeeze the base model into my life but I’m concerned about that suspension. Some are saying it’s pretty firm. A test ride is on the cards I feel. A nice review. You’re always worth watching, thanks.
I'm riding 21' r1250rs, absolutely love the bike did 40kkm in 15months, thinking to change it for Mandello S. Slightly more agile its what I want not worried about performance witch I thing are more or less the same as RS.
Great review….. from a more than capable tester…. with soul ! Having spent a happy 18 months on an 85 TT ( After 2 years on Kawasaki 200 sx se) now Triumph tiger sprint 660 ….. you’ve definitely guided me back towards the fold ! 😂 Ciao P.S. you’re dead right about the Aprilia engine WOW !
Great review Michael and Guzzi really seem to have pulled a blinder with this bike. What impresses me is the quality of the bike. It oozes quality and I love the way it looks and sounds. So refreshing to see such a practical real world design which doesn’t chase the power wars yet has plenty on tap and with a big fat midrange where you need it most. I’d imagine that makes for effortless, relaxed progress and easy overtaking. It’s been too long waiting for a bike of this calibre to come along with such intelligent, wise design. I almost regret now just buying a low miles 1200 RS but that is an excellent bike too along similar lines. Wish I had the space for two bikes as I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a V100 S. big thumbs up from me👍. They’re onto a winner with this one.
It’s not mentioned here but the brakes are also perfectly complete the whole package. Feel and the first bite, stopping power just sublime. Cruise control is a bit twitchy on getting the set speed but other than that I fell in love in a 10 days tour to Italy and East Europe.
Great review! I love Guzzi's, the only reason I'm not riding a V-7 now is because the dealer network here in the U.S. doesn't really exist, at least not here in kansas city.
I've owned a couple of Moto Guzzis. A 1984 Le Mans MkIII and a 1990 Le Mans MkV. The MkV I owned from new for 11 years and was by far the best mile muncher I've ever owned. No electronics, points and coil ignition and absolutely bullet proof. The riding position was so so and the seat terrible but after 500 kilometres in the saddle, you hardly noticed this.
I currently ride a V Strom which I like a lot but never been off road on it and most probably never will. This bike ticks every box I can think of for me..apart from the price but hey, you get what you pay for. My only concern is a 3 hour ride to my nearest dealer.
Went for a ride with a friend on his v100 last weekend. It turned to rain for a few hours. I got wet, he was dry from his knees up so I guess the flappys do something in the wet.
I bought the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT after watching your reviews. The Guzzi looks nice, but for now I prefer the reliability of the Suzuki, and the beauty of the 4-cylinder.
I think they've got it right. It makes more sense than a big adventure bike for the vast majority of riders that will never venture offroad. A fantastic historical marque with modern design with a hint of character and great Realworld abilities.

I've never ridden a Guzzi, never been that interested to be honest. This model however has got me sufficently interested to at least find out where my nearest dealer is.
Same here, didn't even know I had a local dealer until I looked it up after watching some revues on this bike.
Much want for this bike, not seen a negative review yet
I have a 2019 Superduke GT and I have to admit that I am very tempted by the V100.
I also have a 19 SDGT, loving the Guzzi, might have to add one to the stable.
I have a gen 1 KTM sdgt had it since 2016 love it , thinking of getting something different might be this Guzzi?
Excellent review as usual, I am impatiently waiting for my V100 S to arrive sometime in January. Been wanting this beautiful machine since I first saw it last year. I really feel it will be well worth the wait.
Great video - as usual!
Thanks - been waiting for this bike to surface for 18 months - now convinced I have to own it !!
My research says V100 over Duc. ( All done online within last couple of years. )
The Supersport is basically a Monster underneath
How interesting, I have p/x my 2011 Diavel for a v100, I used the Diavel in a 3,500 miles 8 country tour of Europe in August and it did the job, but - quick test ride and I know the V100 will be much more suited to the type of riding I want to do
Actually I’ve decided to keep the Diavel, my track Zx10r has gone instead
Wonderful way to review the bike. I knew I bloody need V100 and now I know it much, much more.
It doesn't have a dry clutch.
Tingles!
Very pleasant going through. No music, calm voice, good content. Thanks.
The long awaited and definitive review. As always. Thank you sir. G.
Such a nice quiet genuine review without BS or hyperbole.
What an absolute beautiful machine. I hope all goes well with this model and it should out sell the v85tt . Well done moto guzzi.
That is the most beautiful Motto Guzzi ever. They really stepped up their game ! Beautiful, I would love to test ride it.
I wish this bike had been available when I bought my Tracer 9GT in June. I feel a test ride coming on. Gorgeous looking bike.
Thanks!
@@greg9076 Yes! I got my exotic & fun Italian roadster. It's super-duper!
I want one.
Had a few Guzzis over the years, looking forward to this one
That’s why in my opinion you’re the best Neevsey. Another fantastic review. What an eye pleasing motorcycle.
Vivid articulate comprehensive communication of what I think is an amazing looking bike , can't wait to ride one.
Great review, as always!! Beautiful offering by Guzzi! Can’t ride to ride it next Spring!!
Great review, I really appreciated the honest and objective review for the type of bike you were testing, WELL DONE mate!
Great review on a stunning bike. I’m definitely interested in one.
Thanks for the correct pronunciation of 'Guzzi'. Lovely looking bike, its always about support with A Guzzi and having a dealer close to you.
Excellent Review! Coming from someone with over 20 years of riding a multitude of bikes your opinion carries a lot of weight. Been waiting for a long time for a bike like this. Thanks
Think this is a great looking bike, and sounds like it rides as well as it looks.Well done Guzzi.
What a beauty! The colors though! Nailed it!
Working in the car trade, I still insist this is a longitudinal engine configuration. But I see why people call it transverse...
Great in depth review. Many thanks
Fantastic review, just put my name on the list for one!
Beautiful, in-depth review. This bike is gorgeous. Love the look water cooled motor. Unique DRL, single sided swingle arm with shaft drive. The color is fantastic. I would buy one if a dealership was nearby In Hawaii.
Great review
Thanks for the maturity and common sense approach to review
Lovely bike

😂 Ciao
P.S. you’re dead right about the Aprilia engine WOW !
Nice to see an Harada Arai ! Had one just like that, dark visor. Now I'll be waiting for the V100 TT.
Condensed version.. 'it's a class act'. Good review, great Guzzi.
Zoom effect when talking about the shaft drive squat was peak edit 😄
Great review and thanks for the detailed info. I can't wait to ride this bike.
That is a nice looking bike. Always liked Moto Guzzi bikes.
Another great review.
Nice review, I've been thinking of selling my 2020 KTM 790 Adventure and getting a sport tourer. Other than the cost I like this bike.
Let's hope when properly tested back here in uk, it doesn't take on a different opinion, as often happens. I love the bike 👍
Great review and the bike is a success in so many ways hope to see it in Australia sometime.
Those wind management flaps will be very useful on highways I think.
I bought the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT after watching your reviews. The Guzzi looks nice, but for now I prefer the reliability of the Suzuki, and the beauty of the 4-cylinder.
Great review of this amazing machine. English subtext is very entertaining eg Guzzi comes up as Good Sea, Gucci and Go See just to mention a few !
I look forward to your next review on the Guzzi.
It’s made me think this could be the next bike
Love this bike. Would buy it if I didn’t already own a sport tourer… so I got the 2024 Stelvio instead
Beautiful Bike,so different and draws the crowd 's absolutely stunning 😍
