The highest value are nutrients (protein, freshness, etc), second is flavour (spices, herbs), and third are calories (sugar, flour, fat). Back then before the industrial revolution, the sign of poverty was being thin. Nowadays one indicator of poverty is obesity, where one is able to acquire calories, but not necessarily nutrients. Id rather be a middle class in this century than be an aristocrat in the 16th century still shitting into boxes and having questionable healthcare
Next time if u wanna try to eat burger again, u just simply ask them not to put so much sauce or dont put it at all so that u can enjoy and taste a real burger taste. One of the man things I don't understand about many food bloggers (indeed and about one in four people I share dinner with) is all the questions about the food and the need to express your 'choice' about what you eat. I'm from the school of thought where you just take what you get. It is not like you have the language skills or the cultural knowledge to actually make a meaningful choice right? Nine times out of ten I just go for 'Berikan saya hidangan tandatangan anda' or 给我你的招牌菜. It works a treat for me
Omg...my mouth is watering. Hankering for a burger now. The sellers tend to put lots of sauce on the bun or burger. I usually make my order of daging special, no mayo, tak mau sos melimpah. The thing with going overboard with the sauces is actually because of the patty. Ramly patties have barely any meat; mostly fillers, so they'll cook up into a dry hockey puck. That's kinda where the sauces come in.
honestly the patties is all trimmed unwanted excess fats, its nice to eat once in a while only because it is very unhealthy tbh. But its a good choice for a cheap supper
A must have burger - Ramly Burger! And somehow, in my humble opinion, the ones in Malaysia taste so much yummier than the ones in Singapore and I dunno why 😩 (and I am a Singaporean).
@@michellchin5338 there was a time when it was difficult to get Ramly burger patties (no idea why though) but have seen them recently at the pasar malam. I sure hope they are legit Ramly burgers but somehow the taste like not the same compared to those I had when in Malaysia. Maybe it’s just me 😅
@@michellchin5338 they said Ramly's too fatty. Not a healthy choice. But, in my opinion they don't want Singaporeans to spend on Malaysian's import. Keep the money on local products. It's only a political issue and Ramly's burger is the unfortunate victim.

for me.. stalls that use chili sauce and mayonaise is the best, plus with the maggi seasoning, the basic one.. i dont like if the stall uses so many types of sauces.. some of the stalls add barbecue and cheese sauce in their recipe.
Actually when u order this kind of street burger, u can ask for less sauce. Like myself, i always inform the seller that I want less chilli, more mayonnaise. Not that I dont eat spicy foods but the amount of is the "less" chilli is actually equivalent to the amount of "normal" chilli that we eat. Or else, the burger is full with sauce. Just my preferences.
Hi iChang & Jimmy! This was a lovely video featuring your first experience with ramly burgers (love how genuine your reaction is!) My gf and I enjoy watching your videos, and yes, we agree sometimes it can get a bit too saucy. maybe that's why less is more 😂or maybe it's an acquired taste for us locals since some of us grew up eating ramly burger :) our favourite and go-to patty from ramly is the chicken patty, and if you happen to give Ramly another try, maybe can try the chicken one too!😊
Jimmy guessed right, what makes this stall unique is the potatoes. There's 2 other unique roadside burger you might also like. Man Burger Stall Sungai Dua and Burger Ayam Goreng Njoy.
@@monkeymonk2081 it's a good suggestion but we need to understand how they do business. They way they pile the sauce basically reflects the demand of majority of the customers and it is much cheaper to get sauce in bulky packaging.
Ramly is Malaysian famous burger's patty products. If they said homemade meaning, its their own patty and not from Ramly's brand, thats all. I don't really like with so much sauce too, and for someone with iChang's stomach size, burger will be enough for 1 meal like for dinner.
When it comes to street burger, they will fight with sauces. Some stall use their secret sauce which they prepared themselves, and some might just use store bought sauces. But for stall burger, we can always ask for less sauce or omit other sauce and only ask for chili sauce. I would ask lesser sauce when I want to enjoy the taste or I just keep quite if I want some MSG more 🤣
In recent years, Malaysian street burgers have been fusion-ized a lot to fit the higher price they'd like to sell, especially by adding various sauces inside; chilly,BBQ, mayonese and lately, cheese sauce too. Then they reduce the quality of veges by replacing the lettuce with cabbage (which entirely annoying), and no more onion/tomato slice. The simple Ramly burger in early days just consist of the patty, chilly/tomato sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato slices. Those days have long gone and I miss them a lot. Nowadays if I were to buy Ramly burger, I will just request for less chilly and mayo only.
like usual, you can customise your food and drink in Malaysia less sauce or more sauce, less sweet, more vegetables, less spicy, everything can be customise in Malaysia
I'm amaze that you haven't tried and eat these marvellous Ramly burgers yet. 😅😅😅 This is like that top list of tourist must try. And you finally complete it. Congratulations ichang & jimmy! 😄✨✨✨

Yup, I sometime forgot they never tried it yet too. They been like Malaysian allready.Eating, cooking & sometime ordering like Malaysian. Malaysia is a GIGANTIC melting pot. They are always some new food to try.
Ramly is one of the brand of those meat patties, ayam special and daging special mostly use ramly brand patties. Homemade means they prepare the meat themself, not all stall got homemade patties. So basically all stall using the same ramly patties, just the way they cook and prepare is different.
Somewhat surprised that this is the first time iChang trying street burger. This is quite the popular street food that most travellers and tourist will encounter early in the visit to Malaysia.
fyi jimmy n ichang, batang pinang is the number 1 grade local meat in msia, its the most expensive local meat, it is very nice good quality, n costs 2-3x more than normal meat, when cook properly the meat is soft n tender. maybe u guys can do experiment, n demonstrate on ur show eg. cook beef curry, one u use batang pinang n one u use local meat, u will see the difference, cook in exact same conditions, the local meat will be chewy
Same as Maggi/Mamee Instant Noodle. Ramly Burger can be customized endlessly. Each of every cooks has their own way or brands that distinct from one shop to another. The best is to keep looking for next stall after another, never settle for one. Because some even dipped their patties in black pepper sauce (inspired by Prosperity Burger). Enjoy your time here!
What i learned from one of the homesteaders that i watched, she said "if you look at the ingredients list on the products, the first in the list is the most used/main products" after that, go to my pantry and what ever sauce that in my pantry (except for soy sauce), the main ingredient is sugar.. that y the chili sauce is so sweet... Especially for the maggi(e?) one..
If you like fish fillet burger, can try “simple version” of Ramly burger. Just chili sauce + mayonnaise(this is best for me) Usually if we order ayam / daging special, it’s just the meat with egg, if we order double ayam special, means two chicken meat + one egg The version you ordered is heavy & too much sauce 😂
I love how genuine both of you with your review.. my husband loves this kind of burger with lots of sauce.. but normally I will only ask for a little bit of mayo.. then u can really taste the meat and egg.. 😋
Used to hunt(and still) for burgers everytime i went for vaca. Very hard to find a long lasting burger stalls. Alot of them sometimes dissapear and gone after afew months or the next time i came again. The 1st best burger i found is in Kuala Terengganu in front of Ming Star hotel. That was over a decade ago. Alot of the stalls do put loads of sauce (also in roti john) Talking abt burger, i just tried a great burger in Ipoh just last Sunday. "Bro Burger" in Taman Fairpark. Beside the road. Not too far from Nasi Kandar Pelita(opposite). I usually get Burger Kahwin Special telur benjo) 😁 Btw, For ramly burgers, special means with eggs. And my wife usually prefer less sauce, so for her i usually ask for "kurang sos". Enjoy ur penang trip 🙂
As a PenangLang , seriously Pos Burger is overrated (they put too much sauce, if u like sauce then it will be good for you) , Ramly burger from Farlim , Batu Lanchang and Pulau Tikus are much better....
Daging batang pinang tu sirloin pun ya tenderloin pun ya.
Everytime I order this street burger,I always tell them,no chili sauce . They all like weirdly look at me why I want that😂 They put simply too much, and Malaysian love the overload of sauce in their burger LOL . I don't like it that way . I want to taste my meat .
visit Malaysia once for work and the best thing about Malaysia is its easy to communicate with the locals, I feels like everyone right there know how to speak basic English
Sirlion part of meat = batang pinang, literally means trunk of the areca nut palm/tree. Seller joked "not batang nyok (colloqial for nyior, which means coconut)", translated this means "not coconut trunk"... Harimau menangis (tiger crying) is lightly marinated small beef pieces which are fried much like one fries a burger patty, and eaten with white rice. A special sauce dip is also provided. Seller names his version as harimau teriak which means tiger howling (loudly crying)...

Luckily i just finished eating my burger when i saw this vid🤣the only problem i have with burger stalls is they put so little veggies. I always like a lot of veggies in a bite. So nowadays i always order from usual places i go to bc i know they wont disappoint
Ramly Burger basically just referring to the normal street burger, it is the brand of the patties. Just like Maggie Goreng, you can find it everywhere. One thing I dislike about street burger is because the sauce is overpowering the actual taste, but you can always ask for “sauce kurang” (means less sauce) or usually I will say No Mayo. I’m from Penang, you can discover the mainland side of Penang; Bukit Mertajam for the infamous Sentosa Yam Rice.
I'm currently residing in Kedah & it just take about an hour to reach Penang. So, it is normal if people in Kedah going to Penang either for work or leisure.
I luv my burgers with lots of combined sauces. Not dry burgers. Combined sauces : chilli sauce, mayonnaise, black pepper sauce, worcester sauce, custard, melt cheese and a little bit of curry powder.
The homemade patty is made by them. Not factory produced which may have fillers. So homemade ones is more better and he said is batang pinang cut, or tenderloin meat which is soft and nice. Usually this cut is more expensive when you buy at market.
I usually order it with no chili sauce. There is some good chili sauce, the one with sweet spicy taste without overpowering other flavour, but usually most burger stall use the cheap chili sauce, it left a sting and overpowering other taste. So to be safe, just order with no sauce or at least less chili sauce.
Cuba Ramly burger kat tempat lain..pesan kurang sos..taknak sos juga boleh..boleh minta daging jangan d belah tengah..baru terasa dagingnye..jangan sampai jadi burger 'sos'..😌
Idk why they always add so much sauce. I want beef burger not sauce burger. Every time I always have to tell them to put less sauce. It's kinda annoying even though I'm a local
since most Malaysians eat with "kuah" sauce with their daily meals, most of other foods in Malaysia is put on heavy sauces or more flavour for satisfaction. we can't eat plain foods or foods without spiciness, it feels wrong.
Up to my college years, I always ordered 'burger daging double special cheese, sos tomato sahaja, sayur taknak'. That's double beef patty wrapped in eggs with msg sauce, with cheese, only ketchup, no vege. This way you'd get the purest meatiest and margerine-est taste of ramly burger, without all the sauciness and mess. Btw, you will find a burger store in front of almost every 7-eleven. Find one that has a decent queue around 7-8pm to know if it's good or not.
you can ask less sause or just which sause u like… mostly street burger sause(chili sause, mayonaise).. because we malaysia like more sause.. but some people dont like. we request no sause or only mayo

Next time try ask for burger kawin special.. it’s a double burger w beef n chicken patty wrap w egg… btw the homemade patty is made from tenderloin part (batang pinang)
When hungry at night.. bring a street burger to eat..🥰🥰 But after that... Guilty pleasure but satisfaction to our stomach...🤣🤣🤣 Western style burgers only use ketchup..lectures and mustard sauce. Malaysian style..all food was 'banjir' style.. Chili sauce here..all brands taste sweet and spicy..both of you do not trauma about hot n spiciness level ...😁😁

For me, it's the opposite. I like the Singapore patty better but the Malaysian way of cooking it.
@@monkeymonk2081 I just think it’s ridiculous. If food is good, you buy them and eat them. How can they politicise food it’s st****. Well no matter. Singaporeans will flood Malaysia anyway.
for me.. stalls that use chili sauce and mayonaise is the best, plus with the maggi seasoning, the basic one.. i dont like if the stall uses so many types of sauces.. some of the stalls add barbecue and cheese sauce in their recipe.
Oh memang they put potatoes in those burgers?
@@hanxhaykidsdiaries8044 yes, too bad the sauce ruined the taste.
They should put all those sauces into small packets so we can adjust to our liking just like Mc Donald's.
I would ask lesser sauce when I want to enjoy the taste or I just keep quite if I want some MSG more 🤣
Welcome back bro... It's burger banjir you having... Lots of source...
Omgggg so muchhh videossss this weekkkk!! im sooooooo happyyyy
like usual, you can customise your food and drink in Malaysia
less sauce or more sauce, less sweet, more vegetables, less spicy, everything can be customise in Malaysia
Personally I like extra onion in my burger.
I like the honesty. Keep up the good work!
I'm amaze that you haven't tried and eat these marvellous Ramly burgers yet. 😅😅😅 This is like that top list of tourist must try. And you finally complete it. Congratulations ichang & jimmy! 😄✨✨✨
Base on my observation (I might be wrong)...i Chang favorite Malaysian Food is DURIAN & ASAM LAKSA.While Jimmy is Nasi Lemak & anything with BIG/MONSTER on it.
Yup, I sometime forgot they never tried it yet too. They been like Malaysian allready.Eating, cooking & sometime ordering like Malaysian.
Malaysia is a GIGANTIC melting pot. They are always some new food to try.
Always love your vids. Big love from Malaysia❤️
Sokay ichang, next time request for less sauce🥰🥰 we Malaysian like a lot of sauce🤣🤣
Ramly is one of the brand of those meat patties, ayam special and daging special mostly use ramly brand patties. Homemade means they prepare the meat themself, not all stall got homemade patties. So basically all stall using the same ramly patties, just the way they cook and prepare is different.
Better than MCD.Delicious
Somewhat surprised that this is the first time iChang trying street burger. This is quite the popular street food that most travellers and tourist will encounter early in the visit to Malaysia.
I ALWAYS ask to halve the chili sauce. Honestly, most Ramly burger stalls put way too much
agree… i do the same
The boss saying 'batang Penang' and 'harimau menangis' means he saying about beef part and type(something like delicious part)
Its okey ichang u can say if u dont like the taste.. all Malaysian is open minded people.. so no worries we wont attack u..hahaha 😅
fyi jimmy n ichang, batang pinang is the number 1 grade local meat in msia, its the most expensive local meat, it is very nice good quality, n costs 2-3x more than normal meat, when cook properly the meat is soft n tender.
maybe u guys can do experiment, n demonstrate on ur show eg. cook beef curry, one u use batang pinang n one u use local meat, u will see the difference, cook in exact same conditions, the local meat will be chewy
Batang Pinang meat usually more expensive than others ❤️🇲🇾
"batang pinang" means... sirloin or tenderloin....if somebody isnt commenting about this yet...if does...i just left it by
Malaysia most iconic burger reviewed by iChang = spectacular
Same as Maggi/Mamee Instant Noodle. Ramly Burger can be customized endlessly. Each of every cooks has their own way or brands that distinct from one shop to another.
The best is to keep looking for next stall after another, never settle for one. Because some even dipped their patties in black pepper sauce (inspired by Prosperity Burger).
Enjoy your time here!
Beginning: This is how typical Malaysians crossing road (but not all)
Btw , the burger is just like ramly burger , but more selections other than this
What i learned from one of the homesteaders that i watched, she said "if you look at the ingredients list on the products, the first in the list is the most used/main products" after that, go to my pantry and what ever sauce that in my pantry (except for soy sauce), the main ingredient is sugar.. that y the chili sauce is so sweet... Especially for the maggi(e?) one..
If you like fish fillet burger, can try “simple version” of Ramly burger. Just chili sauce + mayonnaise(this is best for me)
Usually if we order ayam / daging special, it’s just the meat with egg, if we order double ayam special, means two chicken meat + one egg
The version you ordered is heavy & too much sauce 😂
I love how genuine both of you with your review.. my husband loves this kind of burger with lots of sauce.. but normally I will only ask for a little bit of mayo.. then u can really taste the meat and egg.. 😋
"this a dangerous midnight food"
that why we like it more 🤤
Used to hunt(and still) for burgers everytime i went for vaca. Very hard to find a long lasting burger stalls. Alot of them sometimes dissapear and gone after afew months or the next time i came again. The 1st best burger i found is in Kuala Terengganu in front of Ming Star hotel. That was over a decade ago.
Alot of the stalls do put loads of sauce (also in roti john)
Talking abt burger, i just tried a great burger in Ipoh just last Sunday. "Bro Burger" in Taman Fairpark. Beside the road. Not too far from Nasi Kandar Pelita(opposite).
I usually get Burger Kahwin Special telur benjo) 😁
Btw, For ramly burgers, special means with eggs.
Yeah some plp wants to taste the meat. Not the sauce
Batang pinang ->
Sirloin (loin di antara pinggang lembu - tulang rusuk 13 sehingga tulang pinggul. Ada top sirloin dan bottom sirloin)
Tenderloin (loin lembut - nama tender tu pun maksudnya lembut )
Lain tempat/negara lain potongan nya. Daging batang pinang tu sirloin pun ya tenderloin pun ya.
Not everyone likes alot of sauce. Me I always ask for half sauce only.
I love simple burger with less sauce..normally I ordered without sauce and add it myself at home
Everytime I order this street burger,I always tell them,no chili sauce . They all like weirdly look at me why I want that😂 They put simply too much, and Malaysian love the overload of sauce in their burger LOL . I don't like it that way . I want to taste my meat .
Give honest comments ichang and jimmy...
People would really appreciate that.
They would even suggest u guys a better place for different experience.
I usually ask for separate sauce so that my burger is not soggy
visit Malaysia once for work and the best thing about Malaysia is its easy to communicate with the locals, I feels like everyone right there know how to speak basic English
So you guys order 1 Ramly Daging Special & 1 Homemade Daging Special right? I'm also confuse lol 🤣 Next try Syukor Burger 😁😁
Overated syukor burger , lol lmoa
Sirlion part of meat = batang pinang, literally means trunk of the areca nut palm/tree. Seller joked "not batang nyok (colloqial for nyior, which means coconut)", translated this means "not coconut trunk"...
Harimau menangis (tiger crying) is lightly marinated small beef pieces which are fried much like one fries a burger patty, and eaten with white rice. A special sauce dip is also provided. Seller names his version as harimau teriak which means tiger howling (loudly crying)...
Hi. If you free please try Ed burger in Permatang Pauh Penang. Try their special beef burger. I think it was the best street burger i ever had in entire Malaysia 😆
Area mana bang lebih specific? Saya orang Pmtg Pauh pun tak sampai lagi ni 😅
@@missommawawa tau restoran fais western dekat janggus tu tak ? Dia depan skt menghala ke Butterworth tu. Restoran fais tu kalau dari uitm belah kanan. Dia depan skt dari restoran tu belah kiri kedai dia.
@@hafizanmatfauzi9154 ooooo fais western tau. Okay nak p try Ed burger tu. Thank you bang 🙏🏻
@@missommawawa haruuu!! 🤣
homemade burger usually are better than frozen commercial burger. Homemade mostly like almost 99% meat, while commercial is mostly like 50% meat, the rest is chemical and other stuff, this was in discovery channel. Although that was documentary on american country if not mistaken.
Luckily i just finished eating my burger when i saw this vid🤣the only problem i have with burger stalls is they put so little veggies. I always like a lot of veggies in a bite. So nowadays i always order from usual places i go to bc i know they wont disappoint
I love how the akak explain the size
just show the stock!
glad to see you try pos burger. to me is the best ramly burger in penang. i've been going there since 2006
Ramly Burger basically just referring to the normal street burger, it is the brand of the patties.
Burger Ramly memang terkenal di Malaysia Ichang… sekarang ni pesaing terkuatnya ialah Zam Burger
The homemade patty is made by them. Not factory produced which may have fillers. So homemade ones is more better and he said is batang pinang cut, or tenderloin meat which is soft and nice. Usually this cut is more expensive when you buy at market.
Batang Penang means tenderloin..batang penang also you can call batang pinang. They say sempoi which means awesome. Or aplasengkong
It is hard to find burger stalls that use good chilli sauce.
"For chicken this one lah, crunchy.". 😂😂
sedap dengar akk tu ckp slang Malaysia.
since most Malaysians eat with "kuah" sauce with their daily meals, most of other foods in Malaysia is put on heavy sauces or more flavour for satisfaction. we can't eat plain foods or foods without spiciness, it feels wrong.
Chilie sauce
Black pepper sauce
Mayonese
Can ask for less or more or none.
i love when they give extra mayo n sauce :3 eheh.. Malaysian street burger is the best !! :D
Penang...the best place to stay and work. They have lots of good foods too.
But Terengganu is the best place to stay after retirement.Anyway,u have to try Ramly Burger one day.
Next time try ask for burger kawin special.. it’s a double burger w beef n chicken patty wrap w egg… btw the homemade patty is made from tenderloin part (batang pinang)
I really enjoy to see your experience to travel in Malaysia.. I wish to do in same day.. Really love experience eating at the street
When hungry at night.. bring a street burger to eat..🥰🥰
But after that... Guilty pleasure but satisfaction to our stomach...🤣🤣🤣
Western style burgers only use ketchup..lectures and mustard sauce.
Malaysian style..all food was 'banjir' style..
Chili sauce here..all brands taste sweet and spicy..both of you do not trauma about hot n spiciness level ...😁😁
You can ask for less sauce next time iChang! I did that too and it is amazing ♥️
I had one Ramly Burger too near where I live.
but they actually serve 3 types of patties: Chicken, Beef and Lamb.
I ordered Lamb Oblong, and I get to choose what sauce to put. It's nice.
