@pompa98 i doubt its the guitar. its either the audio recording or his amp. cuz i played the same guitar in a music store plugged into a marshall half stack, and it sounded great.
Take into consideration that the PDX 2 now comes as a neck-through guitar, the neck is maple and the wings are basswood. Obviously the sound of the guitar will be somewhat different than the bright alder body and bolt-on maple neck. It won't be super dark, but it will have more sustain than alder.
@Hazpon just use a wall mount, save yourself alot of headache of trying to get one to fit one fine, they have a floor stand that will fit it where you sit it in sideways, but those are a little too pricey
You're right! The PDX and D2 both have bolt-on contraction, but I would like to point out that the Demmelition PDX-2 has just come out with Neck-Thru construction... Just thought I'd lay that out there :P
Do you want a Tremolo on your guitar? If so, the Demmelition PDX is the way to go. And considering that the PDX has just received a refresh bringing in features like Neck-Thru construction, I would say that the PDX-2 is a better buy even if you don't want a tremolo... My 2 cents...
@varulv234 must be what he's used for recording... or what-ever amp settings he's got... cos those HZ's are some of the best passives i've had the luxury of using.
@Warhammer40kWarGamer I think its just the amps and the camera that have affected the sound, i dont think it would sound like that if it was set up properly
@QuintiMa No you don't have to do that i'm not really a metal guitarist, what my teacher gives me i will play weather it is blues jazz or straight on rock. I just wanted to hear how this beast sounded.
believe it or not bolton necks are better in many ways, 1 is that they stay true longer with not alot of messing with. 2 is that the neck throughs will venetually warp and it is hard to get them back to the way there were. 3 if something happnes to a bolton neck you can swapt it out with a new one. I had a les paul with a neck through and it cracked at the body joint, yeah I had to trash it, it was done.
@Bloodbane94 Very much so, I bought it too because it's the closest thing to the Jackson Xtreme guitar I could get, and I've gotten some SICK tones out of those EMG-HZ pickups.
@GuitarHeroes257 I am a machine head fan... but i'm not getting this guitar to play machinehead esq songs... i'm getting it cos i like a clean low end chug to go along with my seering high end widdly solos... like. all that remains august burns red all shall perrish that kinda really riffy with awesome solo-age... my fav gtar atm is a BC.Rich mockingbird...and of the guitarists i know that use it ... i don't like any... but that doesn't stop the guitar being awesome.
@Vomitore really? i prefer the 85 in the bridge because its brighter and gives you a stronger tone. but everybody has their own preference, EMGs all the way!! :)
@DeathOfDemigod Honestly I don't have the greatest ear but to me it almost doesn't matter what the guitar sounds like if you're going to add a lot of distortion.
@dropless2002 they actually dont sound bad unless you set up the effects or eq wrong with the correct eq settings and dont compress like crazy like this review is there actually pretty nice there not as good as say the 81/85 but there still better than most of the companys stock pickups i got them stock in my schecter damion and it sounds as good as some 600 doller guitars ive tryed
c'mon, that amp setting sounds like someone smashing a drumset in a tincan in a bathroom... is it that hard to just get a decent amp and leave everything at noon? on an EVH5150 or an engl blackmore that would sound 9001 times as good...
I usually love Paul's demos and he's a fantastic player, but it would've been nice to hear something more melodic than drop tuned chugga chugga chug style death metal riffs.
@AmandaK1409 Oh yes i'm a oriented musician because my teacher also gives me blues and sometimes jazz instead of always playing rock/hardrock etc. Cuz you'll become a better player when playing multiple styles with other techniques ;)
@leopower7 He has a good point. Look at the ProGuitarShop demos for example. Whenever there is a shredder guitar or a more metal oriented guitar to demo, they get Scott instead of Andy to play cos, Andy, as good as he is, is not a metal player. Scott is their go to guy for metal demos.
@MetalManDan7 This guy CAN play guitar. He's just not a random shredder, I'm more surprised even seeing him doing a review on something like this >.> Not that I figure he has a choice.
@bananarama666 No..."Import" has everything to do with quality. The word import in guitar terms means "Of lower cost and quality usually made in korea" . You are looking at the general meaning of import and not what and why the word is used for guitars. Remember, we are talking about GUITARS here, NOT Banana's. You are however, entitled to your own opinion, and if that is your opinion, then fine. Just so long as you know, that your opinion is wrong.
Man I'm really not a fan of that Morton guitar. I've got the PDX V though anyway and it seriously rocks! I put SD Blackouts in it though anyway. Loads of sound!
HOLY SHIT IS HE GONNA PLAY THE MARK MORTON GUITAR?!!!!!!!! AND I AGREE WITH MOST OF YOU, THEY REALLY NEED TO TWEAK BETTER THAT AMP OR GET A BETTER SOUNDING ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
im sure the guitars sound alright in the room compared to these videos, they really need to get a better recording method. Of course youtube compression doesn't help
Paul is one of the best guitar reviewers i've ever seen, i dont think that anyone of you could do such a great review on every guitar he does?
@pompa98 i doubt its the guitar. its either the audio recording or his amp. cuz i played the same guitar in a music store plugged into a marshall half stack, and it sounded great.
That solo on the PDX at about the 2:40 mark is killer. Makes me want it even more.
Take into consideration that the PDX 2 now comes as a neck-through guitar, the neck is maple and the wings are basswood. Obviously the sound of the guitar will be somewhat different than the bright alder body and bolt-on maple neck. It won't be super dark, but it will have more sustain than alder.

what does he mean by "almost" a whole step down to d?
@QuintiMa post the video, i want to hear the clean of the pdx because the mine has to come in this week.
PDX 2 have Basswood body vs PDX 1 Alder. I'm curious about the differences in sound, especially in riffing. Some opinions??
@XxKillKnightXx No, the EMG HZ's are passive, meaning they do not require a 9v battery.
does the demmeliton v need batteries for the pickups?
@Craydon
distortion is not a cure , but a tool for constructing sound you want - (imo) guitar is the basis for making your own signature sound.
That mark Morton guita looks a lot like a schecter ultra dd. and I can't decide between that v or an ibanez mtm2. Opinions?
What color red is that?
what EMG HZ combo is in the pdx?
@bananarama666 Wrong, Jackson has a factory in Japan also and those are the Professional series.
Do you want a Tremolo on your guitar? If so, the Demmelition PDX is the way to go. And considering that the PDX has just received a refresh bringing in features like Neck-Thru construction, I would say that the PDX-2 is a better buy even if you don't want a tremolo... My 2 cents...
the king v or the ibanez mtm2?
@varulv234
must be what he's used for recording... or what-ever amp settings he's got...
cos those HZ's are some of the best passives i've had the luxury of using.
How much cost the flying v?
put some EMG 81/60 or something other than HZ's?!?!?!?!?
What are the differences between PDX and PDX-2, could anyone please tell me?
@Warhammer40kWarGamer I think its just the amps and the camera that have affected the sound, i dont think it would sound like that if it was set up properly
GOD,THE TONE SCRATCHES MY BRAINS!!!!!!
is that an barytone guitar???
@pompa98 why man? can u tell me?
WHAT DISTORTION DO YOU USE?
Probablu gunna get the Jackson PDX for xmas. Is it just me or is the sound on this video not very good?
what amp is it ?
I think that PDX2 is a neck-thru, and PDX is a bolt-on, Im getting PDX in a month..can't wait!
@Goth3m3 true, but on the written reviews, at least they point out subtle little cons though
@CiviC092 I'm switching to 13s for C standard!!!
@QuintiMa No you don't have to do that i'm not really a metal guitarist, what my teacher gives me i will play weather it is blues jazz or straight on rock. I just wanted to hear how this beast sounded.
@tenhundredkills im unsure about that, but just go to your local guitar shop and ask for their rates
That's good to know! very good! Many thanks to you dude!
@KYUBIMATIAS I know :) But my comment was about the shape of the Dominion
believe it or not bolton necks are better in many ways, 1 is that they stay true longer with not alot of messing with. 2 is that the neck throughs will venetually warp and it is hard to get them back to the way there were. 3 if something happnes to a bolton neck you can swapt it out with a new one. @Jontzgu na, i think it was the camera
Nice guitars.
I hope he pumps up the mids and rolls down the treble next time.
Paul YOU ROCK!!!!!
They should have someone else do these reviews man...
He should have played the Morton one longer. I like the tone on that one so much more
The pickup on the King V looks about the same size as his hand O.o
they shouldve had mark come over and talk about it and play it
@Bloodbane94 Very much so, I bought it too because it's the closest thing to the Jackson Xtreme guitar I could get, and I've gotten some SICK tones out of those EMG-HZ pickups.
noise gates schneiden störungssingnale weg was du meinst ist drive oder gain ....
I wouldn't mind buying the Demmelition V but I already have 2 LTD Vs that I love
wow crazy chops at 2:50
@tenhundredkills
yeahr
you have to make a hole for the battery
but of course it is possible ;)
@GuitarHeroes257 Good guitar is the BC Rich Jr.v NJ deluxe, Original floyd rose, Emg's awesome!!
The Dominion is the most metal blob in the universe. Going to buy one.
Who hired this person?
@GuitarHeroes257
I am a machine head fan... but i'm not getting this guitar to play machinehead esq songs...
i'm getting it cos i like a clean low end chug to go along with my seering high end widdly solos...
like.
all that remains
august burns red
all shall perrish
that kinda really riffy with awesome solo-age...
my fav gtar atm is a BC.Rich mockingbird...and of the guitarists i know that use it ... i don't like any... but that doesn't stop the guitar being awesome.
@sketchyou they both havee neck-thru-body construction
@tiikericiao really?
@Vomitore really? i prefer the 85 in the bridge because its brighter and gives you a stronger tone. but everybody has their own preference, EMGs all the way!! :)
@GuitarmanIeuan I notice it too.
"Hi, I play Metal and I insult people about poor skill !"
But Paul have skills, he awesome player !
So learn music before give rude comments :)
@DeathOfDemigod Honestly I don't have the greatest ear but to me it almost doesn't matter what the guitar sounds like if you're going to add a lot of distortion.
i meant the higher-end versions
@dropless2002 they actually dont sound bad unless you set up the effects or eq wrong with the correct eq settings and dont compress like crazy like this review is there actually pretty nice there not as good as say the 81/85 but there still better than most of the companys stock pickups i got them stock in my schecter damion and it sounds as good as some 600 doller guitars ive tryed
@tenhundredkills my line 6 spider valve mk2 sounds fantastic
BC Rich's website has a nice "Wood 101" thread. You could check it out.
I think basswood has darker sound than alder. Not sure though. Google may know something :D
I wanna play like paul
c'mon, that amp setting sounds like someone smashing a drumset in a tincan in a bathroom... is it that hard to just get a decent amp and leave everything at noon? on an EVH5150 or an engl blackmore that would sound 9001 times as good...
2:12 LOL there's no middle pickup.
sounds pretty good
@tiikericiao It may be a weird shape, but I bet it plays heavenly xD
@QuintiMa it doesnt matter and thnks dude.
PXD sounds great for Van Halen, judging from the little shredding section he had.
wtf --' i have the pdx demmelition and this review does not makes it justice
I usually love Paul's demos and he's a fantastic player, but it would've been nice to hear something more melodic than drop tuned chugga chugga chug style death metal riffs.
@peter261289 ok ill hurry but maybe my camera isnt that good ^^
@tenhundredkills Yeah true costs an ass load to get it installed
@AmandaK1409 Oh yes i'm a oriented musician because my teacher also gives me blues and sometimes jazz instead of always playing rock/hardrock etc. Cuz you'll become a better player when playing multiple styles with other techniques ;)
@leopower7 He has a good point. Look at the ProGuitarShop demos for example. Whenever there is a shredder guitar or a more metal oriented guitar to demo, they get Scott instead of Andy to play cos, Andy, as good as he is, is not a metal player. Scott is their go to guy for metal demos.
@sk8alot82 Agreed.
@Vomitore 85s even have more punch than the 81s in the bridge in my opinion.
I would love to see a demo of these guitars without all the reverb/delay or whatever is washing the tone out.
Alder is a lot brighter than Basswood. As far as I'm aware the specs of the guitar aside from Body wood is the same.
finally some metal
has anyone forgot the bolt on construction on these guitar >
Is that drop A?
to much noisy.
@leopower7 the gauge feels better when in standard better for bends.
10 feel better at around a c standard tuning
its circumstantial
and no im not gay
Damn. You can shred.
Man I'm really not a fan of that Morton guitar. I've got the PDX V though anyway and it seriously rocks! I put SD Blackouts in it though anyway. Loads of sound!
@tenhundredkills Floyd roses are badass ass though. id love to have one on my js32 lol
the first one has horable bottom end.
@tiikericiao It sounds freaking amazing though.
Mark Morton = god..
'nuff said
I think they both sound great enough, though :)
HOLY SHIT IS HE GONNA PLAY THE MARK MORTON GUITAR?!!!!!!!! AND I AGREE WITH MOST OF YOU, THEY REALLY NEED TO TWEAK BETTER THAT AMP OR GET A BETTER SOUNDING ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
i see which guitar he likes better, dont judge a guitar by its..... shape?
im sure the guitars sound alright in the room compared to these videos, they really need to get a better recording method. Of course youtube compression doesn't help
@TheTomcat92
Nothing wrong with Paul's "classic rock" riffs. I just hate it when he opens his mouth.
@DeathOfDemigod Starting with crap can be your signature sound.
@cjsk8r75 he says alot that he is influenced by blues and plays it. he said it a ton in the walk with me in hell dvd
