jesus i love that guitar. played it a GC and loved it. saw them and metallica live in january and heard that Machine Head sound and said "I NEED TO TRY THAT GUITAR!".
The nut is probably cut for large gauge strings from the factory tuning, but should take smaller gauge strings, and you may also have to mess with the truss rod and the intonation if you want to change to a lighter gauge string and tune to standard, but of course its possible.
1) obviously you can play clean. but the emgs wont allow you to get that bright clean sounds but you could fix that adding some effects as chorus, delay at least, thats what i do and sounds great
with this guitar are you able to tune from say like standard tuning down to dropped B. I play in both tunings but my ibanez with a floyd rose cannot be down tuned from standard unless i tighten or loosen the strings in the back. Is that the same with this guitar?
The pdx is really good I've played it several times.... I own the neck thru version... The neck thru version is definatly better.... But the pdx is one he'll of an axe for the money! After playing the pdx it made me want the neck thru version. I ordered the red one looks like a fararri! It plays great and has insane crushing tone! I'm not even a machine head fan I just love jacksons been playin them for 15 years. Out of all the guitars ive played over the years only ESP comes close and it still
What more differences can there be? So how is it like the razorback... the only thing they got in common is that they are pointy (with a complett different shape).
+The Dude Yep They Both sound good, I'm using a schecter hellraiser avenger with EMG's and planning to sell it for a thunderhorse explorer, you think its good?
+The Dude Hahaha thats frustrating, Im Lookingforward to buy that thunderhorse explorer, Thank so much for your suggestion sir :) Cheers and Happy Holidays.
me too man V's are the most comfy guitars ever made when i tried one i said... man... from here i'm not getting other guitar besides V's i guess we're two LOL
In case you haven't found out yet (lol) you have to tune down the other strings aswell. Drop C means the guitar is in D standard with dropped low string, Drop B is C# standard and so forth.
Although this guitar is cool, the quality of Jacksons went down after Fender bought them. I never wanted to buy a Fender Jackson, thats why I own an old '96 Kelly.
that is the problem with ALL floating tremolos... thats why the professionals have other people to tune and restring their guitars.. :D this is one of the reasons im selling my floyd rose guitars and buying some with string trough or stopbar.
I wonder, if everyone who makes comments like, "not so good, it lacks of technique, he can not play this, or he can not play that, or" I play better, "if they are as good as they say or think, why they not have jobs like this, or that do not play in front of large audiences, or working on a record label?
It's not that simple. I own the proper Original Signature Demmelition King V, and have played the PDX; they are completely different. The signature version is hand crafted in Japan which makes a difference to the feel of the two instruments. The bridge on the proper version is a real Floyd Rose, not a copy. The neck joint is neck-thru, and that makes the proper version resonate much more vibrantly as well as allowing for better upper fret access. You shouldn't break the necks on guitars anyway.
Hes really good, Paul obviously just doesn't like this guitar, and Jackson probably payed the magazine to write a good review of it. The same goes for the Washburns. Check out the video of him playing the Dimebag Dean from Hell, he plays the shit out of it, because he actually liked the guitar.
You don't have to be better than someone to realize they aren't any good. That being said, this guy is a good guitar player. I am a little disappointed he decided not to play it with its stock tuning, but it's not that big a deal. I don't think these reviews really go into enough detail though. Then again, due to the subjectivity of it all, it is hard to convey a guitar's worth without actually having the other person sit down and play it themselves.
IDK, If I wanted a V that was asymmetrical, I'd get an Alexi Laiho signature ESP. It's like Jackson tried to combine the ESP and the Dean, and they failed at it, horribly.
That's your response? Well done...really great stuff. In fact, I've uploaded many videos to YT of me playing guitar. I don't feel the need to upload any more for the time being though, mainly because I don't need to 'prove myself' to a dimwitted individual like you. I didn't slag off Paul's PLAYING in my initial comment so why is there any need for another video from me?
yea, but this guitar and the kv2 aren't asymmetrical. I would like an alexi. Didnt jackson or somebody try to sue dean cuz of corey beaulieu (trivium) has a guitar that supposedly looks like another guitar???
Being used to his reviews, I can tell he doesn't play a lot of metal. He did a very good job on this review !
Good call on the EMG 60 instead of the 85, sounds so much more defined.
JACKSON = KING OF METAL!!!
Indeed they are . . . for metal anyway :)
jesus i love that guitar. played it a GC and loved it. saw them and metallica live in january and heard that Machine Head sound and said "I NEED TO TRY THAT GUITAR!".

Paul is the king of guitar reviews!!!!
thats a wicked tone u got there
@klummster88 Thks mate. I already ordered one. Waiting for it to arrive. \m/
They are pretty similar. This one is a little thicker, but still very comfortable.
I actually prefer this to the alexi.
@liamware7 no he uses active emg 81 and 60 not the 85
1) obviously you can play clean. but the emgs wont allow you to get that bright clean sounds but you could fix that adding some effects as chorus, delay at least, thats what i do and sounds great
The King V in white is sooo awesome!
I was thinking about getting one of these. I like playing hard rock and metal. Should I get one?
with this guitar are you able to tune from say like standard tuning down to dropped B. I play in both tunings but my ibanez with a floyd rose cannot be down tuned from standard unless i tighten or loosen the strings in the back. Is that the same with this guitar?
@tenhundredkills that's why he didn't review the zakk wylde casket/shovel :)) guitar.
I know this is stupid but what can I use to make the fretboard on my guitar as shiny as this one? I have a Jackson if that helps.
Out of all the guitars ive played over the years only ESP comes close and it still
oh yea i would think that that is a big gap. but how bout would i be able to tune form dropped c down to b without changing anything?
did ya see the washburn review "built to rock hard" then he played power chords
What more differences can there be? So how is it like the razorback... the only thing they got in common is that they are pointy (with a complett different shape).
Jackson = King of Metal
Can anyone complaining about Paul's playing post a clip better than this?
I hear silence.
Glass houses brother . . . .
GOOD POST!
Yea i have noticed the same thing at Aleksi guitars that the neck is really nice.
nice. what gauge strings does it come with?
i wish i could have one of these shred worthy machines
id want a kelly or warrior thou jackson is definetly amazing
Aww dude, WANT.
I'm either getting this or an ESP Eclipse for my next guitar.
What's the scale length on this? I doubt it's 25.5 because they'd need something heavier to tune it like a baritone than 11's if it is...
Actually i think they hired him because he is a great reviewer, i've never read a guitar world article but i'm sure Paul is one of the lead guys.
How bout tuning to E or D? Would there be any problem?
The PDX doesnt have jackson pickups, its has EMG-HZ passives.
this one or the matt tuck signature rhoads
???
the 60 sounds beautiful
is that common or is that something select people do
3:32 ..does it say "Weenz" on the women's bathroom sign?
what amps is this guy using? anybody know any of his favourite amps?
I'm Choosing between this one or the Epiphone Thunderhorse explorer
+The Dude Yep They Both sound good, I'm using a schecter hellraiser avenger with EMG's and planning to sell it for a thunderhorse explorer, you think its good?
+The Dude Hahaha thats frustrating, Im Lookingforward to buy that thunderhorse explorer, Thank so much for your suggestion sir :) Cheers and Happy Holidays.
yes they are.
does anyone know if paul plays in a band?
i just liked when he was demo-ing the harmonics. best part to be honest.
@jerrykane01 Tks, getting one but I normally play at E or D. All the way down to B is very low.
Now that you say it, it does look alot like the Dead Razorback V with smaller cuts in the back and the Jackson headstock.
thats a pretty sweet looking guitar
i love it, better than the 85 imo.
me too man
V's are the most comfy guitars ever made
when i tried one i said... man... from here i'm not getting other guitar besides V's
i guess we're two LOL
Sick guitar i love it!
Aha i bought mine the other day
SOO GOOD
but mines a pdx but no difference lol
i mite do a review for you guys ;D
they couldnt get phil demmel to show it off? he wouldve showed us the sounds we expected to hear from it for the video
will someone tell me how to do drop c tuning like this video when i drop my low e string to c it does not sound right with my other strings
In case you haven't found out yet (lol) you have to tune down the other strings aswell. Drop C means the guitar is in D standard with dropped low string, Drop B is C# standard and so forth.
if this came in 7 string id totally buy this
@sfh113 polish?
god blessed phil demmel...,he designed that..,
Although this guitar is cool, the quality of Jacksons went down after Fender bought them. I never wanted to buy a Fender Jackson, thats why I own an old '96 Kelly.
It's beautiful
most metal guitarists play metal only and even that they can't do right. playing guitar is whole different thing! beside that pauls riffs are awesome
that is the problem with ALL floating tremolos... thats why the professionals have other people to tune and restring their guitars.. :D this is one of the reasons im selling my floyd rose guitars and buying some with string trough or stopbar.
1:42 song name?
how many frets?
I love it. I wish I bought that one instead of peavey's vortex
great, a guitar tuned to the brown note.
But I want the red version of this so badly.
I wonder, if everyone who makes comments like, "not so good, it lacks of technique, he can not play this, or he can not play that, or" I play better, "if they are as good as they say or think, why they not have jobs like this, or that do not play in front of large audiences, or working on a record label?

It comes with .011-.056 in a drop B tuning.
I agree. The 81 muds up the tone and makes it sound dull and everything melds together.
after kerry kings singnature flying V's that jackson is the meanest V i've ever seen
i prever to chris cannela on introducing the demmelition king V
Paul "spider fingers" from guitar world!!!!
Paul is actually quite the lead player
You don't have to be better than someone to realize they aren't any good. That being said, this guy is a good guitar player. I am a little disappointed he decided not to play it with its stock tuning, but it's not that big a deal.
I don't think these reviews really go into enough detail though. Then again, due to the subjectivity of it all, it is hard to convey a guitar's worth without actually having the other person sit down and play it themselves.
@slipknotandmh yeah that is nicely said. and also not even he is good guitarist, he is also good reviewer =)
IDK, If I wanted a V that was asymmetrical, I'd get an Alexi Laiho signature ESP. It's like Jackson tried to combine the ESP and the Dean, and they failed at it, horribly.
Jackson is the real deal\m/
if you have th money, buy the alexi, its great
and also if its the 600, (not blacky nor scythe) buy some new pickups also, maybe some dimebuckers
11-56 for B?? O.o
the white version of this guitar is orgasmic
@hippiecurtis maybe let it do a guy from your musicstore?
they know how to do it
this guy is funny when he tries to play some metal stuff xD
man i still cant believe this is a job T.T awesome...
It has a locking nut which doesn't need to be cut.
@minazmorgul Yes, it's called money. Read artist rig setup in Guitar Player for a dose of reality.
That's your response? Well done...really great stuff.

I didn't slag off Paul's PLAYING in my initial comment so why is there any need for another video from me?
@Thegameplaya101 I love Phil Demmel so much I'de get it if I was in a country band :P
if your fucking awesome then yes :D
lol dimebag used his ML's like a V anyways...not 100% sure tho but any video where he is sat down he appears to :D
I'll stick with my ESP MH400NT for now.
agreed
ofcourse man..,
Why does Paul get ripped constantly on his reviews? The guy has chops. F'n enough already.
From 3:33 to 4:11 it sounds like somthing Alexi Laiho would play.
sounds like somthing he should play as well
its standard tuning but if he tuned it up to E itd fuck up the guitar itd need a much lighter gauge of string on it to do that
sometimes i play ML's like V's when sitting
thats right
i ALWAYS play my ML like a V
Agreed, very versatile player. I like metal but not really a fan of Jacksons, Vs or Floyds...I'll still stick to my trusted LP thankyou very much.
???? I don't even recall watching this video or comenting on it... 3 years ago dude hahahaha
sweet!!
i don't think he's really a metal guy. He's just promoting the instrument with what skills he knows and has about the genre
yea, but this guitar and the kv2 aren't asymmetrical. I would like an alexi. Didnt jackson or somebody try to sue dean cuz of corey beaulieu (trivium) has a guitar that supposedly looks like another guitar???
i saw phil demmel
he was like 2 meters away from me lol
nice guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
two words...fuckin badass
