E. J. Roye Building at 23:32. The Home of the True Whig Party, the longest reigning political party in Liberian History. I still remember the infamous motto “Deeds, not words”.
I worked in the EJ Roye building several years ago. The penthouse at the top had a table tennis set where we met to play and drink some Guinness stout. Good times! The river is Mesurado River and the bridge is the Vai Town bridge. It may have a different name now
We have the executive mansion where our presidents do live right opposite the unification park & the capital building where lawmakers works & our Temple of Justice where our supreme courts is as well.
@@EfyaKimora oh yeah & sorry that you guys never had a tour guy to really take your through to all of the beautiful places in Monrovia. Like I said, if you guys are going to plan another trip in Liberia, you guys should get In touch with a Liberian TH-camrs & we do have so many of them in Monrovia. You can put in Liberian TH-camrs on TH-cam & you’ll get many of them on TH-cam. With all of those guys you met did tried their best to give your some of histories of Liberia but they weren’t very precise in what they told your about those places they told your about. I’m sorry that, I don’t live in Liberia but I’m a Liberian live in the U.S.
For my recommendation, on your next trip to Liberia, you guys should contact a Liberian TH-camrs for a better tour guide to take your around to more beautiful places in the city. You didn’t go to the SINKOR to the side which is one of the most beautiful place & other beautiful places in Monrovia.
That statue is not a fight for power. It is a symbol of brother helping brother to succeed. The Providence Baptist church is where Liberia 🇱🇷 declared her independence from the American Colonization Society on July 26, 1847. Monrovia like all of Liberia is still healing. 90 % of her infrastructure were destroyed in 14 years of brutal civil war. The Monument in the middle of Broadstreet is dedicated to the Pioneers. The River you asked for the name , is the Montserrado River within central Monrovia. It however is the same as the Du River outside of central Monrovia. The Du means in honor of God in Portuguese. It is the river ancient Monrovia is named after. DUCOR in the Dei tribal language meaning, the river's mouth. Liberia was like the Dubai of Western Africa. People came from all over Africa to shop or to travel to America and Europe. It was a hub. The currency was 1 to 1 against the United States dollar. There is still hope for Liberia provided they they keep making peaceful decisions over conflict. It is rich with small population. All it need is good leadership in every major institution. Not just government.
On April 22, 1980, thirteen members of the slain president William R. Tolbert’s cabinet were executed by firing squad on that beach at that particular spot where the unification square is. It’s a place of our bitter history that was turned into a recreational space to quote unquote create a new sense of togetherness away from our divided past.
Ghanaians should understand that there are more Ghanaians in Liberia than there are Liberians in Ghana. Every neighborhood has Ghanaians, some more focus than others.
Monrovia city place very nice but therefore roads problems and some parts of the city roads nice. Let the government need develop all the road infrastructure good.
That unification Square was built in honor of the thirteen government officials that was executed on firing squad. They wasn’t twelve men but thirteen men for the correct history.

In fact!…to be very precise, the decoration of independence was signed in the Providence Baptist Church on July 26th 1847.
Thanks for all the amazing information 🤝🥰
That's not correct. The declaration was signed in Providence Baptist church. I am a United Methodist Baptistized and confirmed.
