Thats not true, Raw Cassava has always being eaten since precolonial period.There three types of Cassava. The red or pink, the plain og White, and the Black. The Black is poisonous, and it contains Cynid especially the leaves,but Goats eat it and nothing happens to Them.

In sierraleone we eat different ways of it preparation. Such as it raw, boil, fry, roast, it fufu , garie and even it leaf we eat it without any issue. We started eating all this type of it preparation not even with it limitations of war but even before our forefathers. Cassava is one of the favourite food for the sierraleoneans and second to rice as well ❤️‍🩹❤❤

Sierra Leoneans have eating raw cassava for hundreds of years. It has nothing to do with the war. They did not eat cassava because they were inside their homes as a result of the war. It is one of the ways we eat cassava, including roasting, frying, boiling, foo-foo and gari. Our cassava has no poison. I don't know whether it is different from cassava in other west African countries.
