I get buyers remorse over everything. I buckle down and save everything I can then I spot something I want and think YOLO! Then I spend a lot of time feeling guilty over non essential spending. I have been working on minimalism over the past 2 years and it always brings me back to saving and living more frugally. I think that there is a huge need to work treats into the budget so that you don't splurge.
This video is why I watch you and why I love your channel. My frugal life started very late but it is never to late I believe. I have watch so many channels and can not connect with those who give up everything. I find it hard to believe they are enjoying life in there frugal adventure but you Kate speak and live a very wise life. You are wise with your money,, your goals and have been able to budget frugally without giving up what makes you happy. Kandon has toys and adventure and your time. You keep the little things like a cleaner once a month massages for your stress which we all have and much more. You get living a good life, a frugal life, without giving up your joy. Thank you for showing people how to live well but plan and save for thevfuture without debt.
Jillinda...I'm not quite sure why your comment is hitting me the way it is, but I want to burst into tears of gratitude!!!! You SEE me and get me and this comment is EVERYTHING. Thank you so so much!!!! Seriously, this comment has me teary with appreciation for you. THANK YOU THANK YOU! I appreciate you so much.
I think when you have kids it is some what important to take some trips with them. Just an annual trip to the beach or a lake (whatever is closer). It takes gas money, a few nights in a hotel or cabin, and bring some food with you so you dont have to eat out every meal. Gives my kids something to look forward to and is an opportunity to make so many memories.
I totally relate to this. I save all year so that I can take a beach vacation with my daughter. I’m frugal but spend money for things that matter to me.
Tnxs for your video’s. I am a single mother of three kids, that I adopted as a single. I live in the Netherlands. I can relate to your story; I am also living frugally, but sometimes it is a struggle to continue to do so. But I am glad I do. My eldest son went to high school. I could buy a brand new bike for him and all the schoolsupplies he needs. We go once every year on holiday, but we stay in the Netherlands and only go for 10 days. By living this way I was able to make extra payments to my mortgage for several years. Tax refunds and extra payments go to the mortgage too. In 5 years from now, I won’t have any payments left and we’ll live mortgage free. Me and my kids have decided that by then we buy a dog. Please continue making video’s; I like watching them.
Going back to gratitude is such a good piece of advice. Too many of us compare our lives to others and make ourselves unhappy as a result. Gratitude=joy.
Being 60 this year I definitely definitely wish I had been more smart with my money when I was younger. If I had, I could reduce my work hours from 40 a week to 32 or possibly 24 hours a week which is something that my body would love me to do now after working physically hard my whole life. There’s got to be a balance it can’t all be one way or or all the other. I also think people need to start purchasing what they need rather than what they want. That’s something that I’ve been seriously doing for the last couple of years and it’s amazing the amount of money I haven’t spent. Like you I could go on and on about this subject but I’ll close with saying another awesome video Kate, I do look forward to Friday’s! 💗💗💗
Kate PREACH!! Yes absolutely being frugal is a struggle. But keeping your eye on the prize of paying off debt is so important. My #1 tool for saving money is meal planning. It can save you sooo much money. Great job! 👍
I was yolo for a very long time and it got me in debt.... so, since August of this year, I'm very frugal, I like it a lot because I see my debt going down, love your videos!!!
I've just found your videos and am very impressed. I was a single mom also and lived a life being frugal. Now retired, being frugal is a way of life. I love your tips to live below for daily needs. You are teaching your son many valuable life lessons.
I’ll be 59 in November. I left full time employment in July of 2018 due to major stress and anxiety. The only way this was possible was we are debt free. No mortgage or car. Thanks be to God. I’ve worked part time since October 2018 but that’s closed right now due to the coronavirus. It’s not much but it helps. I so wished I/we had been as smart as you when we were in our 20’s/30’s. Our savings is not what it could be because of my spending. I think I lived the yolo life for a very long time. It’s hard to realize that we could have so much more money instead I have purses etc. I’m doing a much better job. Again thanks be to God. It’s hard to break that chain. I really love your channel. You’re very informative and relatable. Keep up the good work. God bless Lee Ann
Once every 10 years.....I'm exactly the same. This year I went away with my sister because it was free and my son and I went camping for half price. Two holidays in one year, I'm in shock. Love you, you're so motivating.xx
Great advice! Spend on what brings you joy and save or cut out on what doesn’t. I am very frugal on most things in my life, I rarely eat out or go to the movies, I buy store brand food and produce that’s in season because it’s cheaper even though it may not be my favorite. Use old towels instead of paper towels and make coffee at home. I used to shower at the gym to save in water (until the pandemic hit). But once or twice a year, I like to go on a holiday. Usually one trip that requires a plane ride and one road trip. I still travel frugally, using points and miles, getting groceries and enjoying free activities at my destination. But it’s something that I really enjoy so I just budget for it. Holidays and retirement investing are where I like to splurge. I don’t mind if I have to live simply otherwise. I wasn’t always this way. I grew up with very frugal parents and when I finally had my own money, I definitely went YOLO for quite sometime. Glad I finally found my path and have been much happier not spending money on material things but fun memories instead and hopefully a secure future with retirement savings.
I do think about things like this everyday, I think of it more so as to all of my ish together so it is not a burden on those that are charged with taking care of it. I have had to help or be fully responsible for executing these things. I am very easily entertained and I also really enjoy simple pleasures. Love this video
Thank you for this video! I really needed to hear this. I’ve been slipping into yolo lately & needed a reminder of what my priorities are..it’s definitely not easy being frugal!
Another great video with an important message. I have lived frugally for so long it's hard to remember living any differently. I never want to have the money anxiety that I had before paying off debt and living beyond my means. I agree with you on practicing gratitude. I'm very proud of the life I have created and have so much to be thankful for. Has it always been easy? No. I am also a single parent and I prepare for the future and my goals every single month while trying to live a good life now. I think it's all about balance.
My grandpa always said if he wouldn't have been so tight he would have wanted to travel. He always said when he retires. He died at 90 years old with a lot of money but never enjoyed a dime of it. I am stilling debt, but I always put money into a vacation every year even though I am still paying off the debt.
My thoughts: it comes down to priorities, values and needs. Once you allocate your money to your needs/essentials you can spread out the rest to your priorities and what you value. Would you agree Kate? I regularly review what my priorities are because they do shift and I am clear on my values. When creating a budget or money plan, it's possible to set it up as: Essentials, Priorities, and Values. Example: Savings might go into priorities, Travel might go into Value and Rent/Mortage into Priorities.
I vacation multiple times per year. It is my thing! But I am also in BS7. Last year my family did a Caribbean cruise with Disney, I took my son on a European cruise with Disney to celebrate his high school graduation, and I went with my mom to her highschool reunion in Maine and Quebec. This year is Italy, France, and Spain with my daughter and her Spanish class, and a family trip to Disneyland.
I went a little crazy with the spending on me this black Friday and needed inspiration to get back on track. When you say, "Think of what you Do have when feeling like you're lacking", that felt good to hear and helped, after watching this video again. Thank you, Kate!
Hey Kate! New sub here. Love your advice. I plan 6 months ahead to pay for trips to Florida or whatever with my 2 boys. I’m frugal on everything but vacations with your kids is a must for me! Experience and memories means so much!!
I ABSOLUTELY needed this video today. Thank You so much for reminding me of all the things I am grateful for. The struggle is so real. I'm still paying off debt and it SUCKS!!! I know I will get it paid off. But damn its taking soooooo LONG!!!!! I GOT THIS !!!! Thanks again Kate !!!
Frugal living trying to get better. I don't have credit card debt and I was smart enough to realize I wanted college education but I didn't want student loan debt hanging over me so I went for 1yr because that was only what my scholarship covered. You have to have a plan like you said. I'm caught between kinda frugal and Yolo everyday so I'm right there with you on that.
How your brother and you feel about Disney, I feel about NYC. I get to go in May and I am super excited! Already paid for hotel and airfare; my friend and I are sharing a room, and bought tickets to a Broadway Show. All I will have to buy while there are incidentals, transportation and food. Happy about that!
I live in India . I am a single parent with a son . We have traveled almost every year since 2005 in the country. The way I plan it is I make three parts. Travel , accommodation and food. Think about the total budget and divide accordingly. Another fun thing about this country is we have accommodations for pilgrims at hindu temples where you stay for free and leave a donation that you can afford. Using this opportunity I have been to beautiful places in the Himalayas when on a shoestring budget.
I'm not frugal, but I enjoy watching to get tips on how to save more money. I like that idea about giving something up to put towards something I actually want. Thankyou for another great video.
I know your hard work will pay off for you, as it has already paid off for me! Love the KATE method and it has made a huge difference. Have not seen the Netflix show you mentioned. YOLO-more about relationships than stuff for me💕
I think it is great you live in a place where Kaden gets to see his greatgrnd mother everyday. My children only have 1 grand parent and she moved from NJ to FL. So we don't see her often. I wish they had more of a relationship. That is more important then owning your own home.
Happy Frugal Friday! Interesting video Kate, got me thinking. I understand what you're saying, the dilemma is ongoing. For me, I'd say peace of mind is priceless so I'd go for that over stuff anyday! If you want to, please do a PO Box video ( I loved it when Sarah, Budget Girl used to do them 📬) TFS.
Same dilemma how much to spend vs save and where is the balance. Dave says there are only 3 things you can do with money spend , save, give. For along time I was in save mode , but my cousin passed suddenly this year and I realized you can’t put your life on hold to save for tomorrow , forever. I agree with you there is a balance and nothing beats going to bed with peace of mind. Glad to know others struggle with the right balance.
I love your videos and share all I can on fb.I really admire you Kate.Keep on the way you are.Grandma is fortunate, and so are you and your son.PS, cash is king.
"What the Fork?" "Why can't I say Fork?" Yesterday, I heard a term on a video JOMO Joy of Missing Out. It was mentioned in a video that popped up when I looked up How To be happy Living With Less. I wish I could stop stressing about mobey but I know I'll get to that point. My plan is to leave my crazy nieces with funds not debt. I don't know how inheritance works Good choice Kaden. Im stuck between I want it and Cant afford it. I've learned that I wants are really the Advertising I watch.
You are amazing! I resonate with everything you are saying. My experience with homeownership has not been worth it. I have been house poor for so many years. I haven’t stayed anywhere long enough to make ownership worth wild. I loose money every time. I’m hoping this is the last time I make this mistake. My theory on ownership is that you need to be sure you don’t want to move for at least 5 or more years. You need to put the 20% down so you are not paying PMI which is an extra fee on your mortgage until you have 20% value. Also you need to have maintenance money to cover repairs and upgrades. Also make sure you can pay off the house in 15 years or less. At this rate with my 30 year mortgage I’ll never pay it off and still have all the stress of ownership. There is nothing wrong with renting. You don’t own the house anyway, the mortgage company owns it. We are Disney addicts. My goal is to move to Florida and work for Disney. We try to go every year. We use our tax refund to go. That has been my savings plan for many years. We are just now working on a savings goal to move to Florida. Your videos give me inspiration and motivation to keep going. One day I will be debt free.
Melissa, this was such great info! I loved reading this!!!! Thank you for sharing your honest perspective on it all!!!! And a fellow Disney gal? LOVE IT!
You're lovely and I appreciate and enjoy how much thought you put into your big life decisions. I empathize with you on YOLO and being pragmatic. It's a fine line to walk 😂🤣😬
Kaden is a little sweetheart! I recently had someone describe me as a financial minimalist. YOLO-ing has been a very foreign concept for me because I've been a money planner for so long, that I rarely splurge. It keeps me sane (or is it insane)! However, just a few years ago I spent more money than I ever have, but it was all for home improvements and my hobby. I went through sticker shock at first, but I get to enjoy my "investments" every day. Now, I'm back to the financial minimalism comfort zone! You always add value to your channel. Congratulations on your growing community Kate!
It totally is isn't it. So many people on here are saying DON'T DO IT! and many are saying they love home ownership so much. I'll have to weight it all out:)
I love the good place. On the 2nd season and it actually goes along with some of my beliefs on the afterlife but its hilarious. I am in the middle of yolo and frugal. I love to do little getaways the cheapest way I can. I purchased a home in April that was exactly what I wanted but higher price then I would have paid if it wasnt important to me for my kids to stay in their school district. It fits my budget and I am so glad i bought. Vacations are extremely important to me. We do one big one per year and spend around $1000-1500 and little excursions during the year.
I've learned that living simply and being content with what you have been blessed with is extremely important. What's important to me is spending time with God, quality time with my children and husband, spending money on experiences not on stuff. We've come to a point in society that what we have is never enough. We want a bigger home, more cars, the next best handbag. It's a never ending cycle. I got to the point where I felt like a hamster on an exercise wheel running and going nowhere. YOLO so live.
Indeed it is the best of both worlds Kate. Know what you spent your money on. Chose what you find importend and see what you can do to make life better. ( for yourself and the ones you know or love) Enjoy what you have got and still are able to do ( finacially and fysical) and a smile!!! ( Just like you do) it makes everything a lot more fun. A friend of mine had a message for us on her funeral: what the world needs now is love sweet love, it's the only thing that really matters ....the full 29 years she lived were truly like this. She lived a frugal , little energie she ever had and all her money she spent on writing positive cards to People who she knew could really use one.
I think you have the right idea. Gratitude + spending less on things that don't matter in order to have more for what does, is the way to go :) Also, frequency matters. Being fine with and enjoying(!) the cheapest instant coffee most days means I can enjoy an extra large mocha latte for $7 once in a blue moon. And when I do go for those extra special treats only here and there, they taste/feel so much better.
Girl I can relate! My last two real vacations were to Dominican republic in 2008 and Mexico in 2009😂 I did a long weekend away last summer up north and a long weekend this fall to Niagara falls. My travel is non existent! Miss it but truthfully I'm a homebody and prioritize my mortgage. I would encourage you to buy a home if you can. You build financial equity and it's a sense of comfort and accomplishment. Personally it's worth it to me to live frugally to own my house. Especially as a single woman. After my ex and I broke up and I moved out of our house, it was important to me to have my own space again 💙
I love that you live in your family's house. I wouldn't mind renting because theres so much freedom in renting. I have a house now and I feel like a slave to it hopefully I can catch up to the projects. I say save your money and enjoy your son 🥰😷
Vacation is a huge priority for me! I make sure that all vacations are paid for before I go and I actually work a second job that is purely for vacation money!
You're so right, we can all pass away suddenly. That's exactly what happened this year to my only sister at the age of 49. Life is not guaranteed, so live your best one. Yes, my family takes a cruise every year. We use our income tax refund to do this. YOLO right!?
Oh Kate, this week I’ve struggled to stay motivated, we’ve been saving & saving for our holiday to Hawaii (we are BS 4 & 7) and today we paid for our whole holiday in CASH , and travelling from 🇬🇧 it’s expensive 😀😀😀. Another great video xx
Homeownership in this day and time is not always what its cracked up to be. There is a lot of hidden cost. Your housing situation dounds perfect for now and into the foreseeable future. If you want a change, paint the inside of your home in brighter colors. It will pep you up for fairly cheap and bgive you the feeling of a new home!
I don’t vacation like ever, unless I’m forced. I like to stay at home but also don’t want to leave my dog,and now cats, who are meany butts to my dog,but it’s only been a few days hopefully they warm up to her bc she wants to be best friends and having friends for her was the only reason we got cats because our rental only allows one dog. I don’t have any money to travel so it’s a good thing I have a local soul. Just subscribed to Kadens channel, maybe my son will watch it.
I like travelling, but at heart I am definitely a “home body”. I love being at home...relaxing and spoiling my own little rescue mutt. Sometimes others cannot comprehend that staying at home really is a great way to spend a holiday break. I love my home and my dog, and I love my hometown. No shame in that! It’s a joy!
I bought my 1st house at 23. I owned 3 houses &;a 10 unit apt. building before I was 30. Stay with your grandmother. Buy a home with CASH ONLY. You will regret the responsibility, pressure & life you cannot have while working to pay your debt. 90% of people are not in your blessed position to stay with family. STAY PUT AND SAVE
I loved this video. And I love how you talked about your living arrangements. In 2009, I left an abusive husband. I had two daughters and one on the way. Not my best shining moment in life. I moved in with my parents and ended up staying 6 years. I was able to go back to school and get a good job. Unfortunately, my dad passed away that last year we were there. Pancreatic cancer. I look back now at that and I am so grateful for parents and the time I got to have with my dad. Just my opinion, maybe you should stay. 💗 I was wondering if you have any videos about your monthly expenses and how much you save. Do you have sinking funds? Just interested in knowing that to get some ideas from. #ksquad
Hey Bonny!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I'm so so glad you got out of the abusive relationship. I'm so sorry about Dad:( So about the monthly expenses, I don't share my exact numbers but I have several budgeting videos that you could watch through because I think they'd be super helpful! Not sure if you already watched those? Have you see this one? th-cam.com/video/hRPnbIzVKQ4/w-d-xo.html And then there's the EveryDollar series that I did. Check all those out!!! Thank you so much for watching!
Love The Good Place! Weekly episodes is frustrating, so waiting until more episodes are up, so can binge watch. I was very pleasantly surprised by Chidi , when he was shirtless that 1st time! Lucky Elenore. 😍
I totally get it.you work to get out of debt.you want to celebrate.this is perfectly fine. But,watch the lifestyle creep. Meaning watch those small purchases that end up costing more, more, more.because if you dont curb it ,you end up back in even more debt.
I love "The Good Place". Also loved "Dead Like Me". We have not been on vacation since 2014 and that one was just to visit my parents... I hope to go on vacation but the other, bigger goals always seem to come first.
Being frugal is a breeze for me, I grew up dirt poor and refuse to live that life again. I constantly want to learn new tips and tricks to be even more smart with what I've been given.
We prioritize travel. Do a years budget and identify all the slack money after expenses and the emergency fund and any essential home improvement and then plan trips. We have 1 year staycation, next year crazy amount of trips! We just want to make memories with the kids.
👍 From frugal Friday 19/01/24. Good one and interesting to see how your life has changed, progressed and stayed consistent. Your videos are a record of Kaden growing up too. Yes celebrate your achievements 👏 I like Swedish death cleaning for this reason to get things in place to have as little as possible to be dealt with after I'm gone. 9k subscribers then you said to 50k subscribers now. Best of both worlds 🙌
Vacationing is a priority for me. We go on a big trip every two to three years. We plan frugally and save up for it. A Disney Cruise is next on our list since we just had our first child. It will be a few years down the road but we have already started saving for it. I know it one of the most expensive cruises, but to me it’s worth the memories :)
I haven’t been on a vacation in 5-6 years. I had immense debt from a private autism school for my daughter. Once she was settled, I tightened my belt so tight not a single dollar slipped through unnoticed until I rebuilt my EF. Then I was seriously injured and spent the 16k during 4 months off of work. Finally, I have my emergency fund up to 24K. I am going to Disney sometime in the next year with no guilt our self doubt. Yes, it’s expensive, but priceless memories made will be worth every penny!
Vacation is a priority to me, but I save for it. Vacations can be small and depending how you plan not as costly. I agree on balancing frugality and YOLO.
Hi Kate, Prugne here, awesome video! I did not know what YOLO meant. Now that most of my life is behind me, I most certainly think about what changes I would have made, things I would have done differently, but most of those things you only know from experience. Things I'm glad I waited on were: 1. College 2. Kids I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, I still don't know what I want to be... I guess I will know when I grow up. I agree with you, security and comfort are more important than flash in the pan things.
Camping vacations can be very frugal depending on your accommodations, tent, pop top camper, travel trailer. State and national campgrounds are clean, cheap and very kid friendly. Bring your food from home so no extra expense. Nothing like a campfire for fun!
YOLO? We are eternal AND THIS You is only once. Whatever anyone wants to have/be as that expression that is their decision and it's all good. Frugality isn't everyone's good. It wasn't mine until recently and I'm over 50. Frugality is also often too much a cover for stinginess, ownership in a silly way, judgement against self, God/Source others, and many other unfortunate mindsets. Blessings to you and your family
I live for now and later meaning.... I go on vacation twice a year treat myself to new experiences but I also save for later in life. I feel that you are doing the right thing staying where you are because you only have one grandma that loves you (maybe 2) owning a house is full of responsibilities . Lots $$$ you have to enjoy life also.
I really enjoyed this episode. We go on vacation every second year. We drive by car to the sea and stay there only one week in a rented vacation house with garden. We go, if I habe saved the money for it upfront. The other year we love long one day trips to a zoo in another city. To live some YOLO: I bought a cheap old sailing boat six years ago. I am so happy to sail it. I Never mind to pay all the repair bills or fix it up myself
Hey Kate. Love your channel. I’m doing the saving thing and frugal living so that way I don’t have to go without. And so that all the days of “ damn I don’t have any money “ will be gone. The nice things that I like to spend my cash on are sports bars and restaurants. I see what your saying about yolo but yes it’s far better to save and do yolo amped up later. Have a good one!
I haven't seen the show. One YOLO thing I'm saving for is a once in a lifetime trip to Guam with my bestfriend. We are going in 2022 and I've started a savings account for the expenses.
I went through this recently with a car. I have an old but reliable car. I started looking at cars - fortunately, the expected monthly payments made me return, relieved, to my paid off 2005 Honda CRV. Phew!
Frugal is hard, because I have to remind my husband constantly why we live this way. But I try to be consistent. We have indeed so much. We are healty, have to beautiful kids, a nice house, lovely family an friends. Every day I write down my blessings of that day. We're so rich. I'm a schoolteacher and today I talked about the kids about having a loth of clothing and stuff. Do we need all these things. Wouldn't it be nicer to have less stuff, but more family time. They all agreed. Some parents bought clothing for the kids that the kids actually did not want. And the parents still bought it!! Kids love to go on vacation in a little cabin with almost no stuff and have the time of their lives! Just having family around. That is what matters. That is what makes us rich. Not a closet full of clothing. But no judgement to anyone!!! As you say Kate, everyone has to live their life!!! It is just that when you talk to kids, what they really want is family and friends around them. Thanks for you're message of this video! Looking forward to more of you're wisdom!! Nice weekend to you and Kaden!!!
DANA!!!!! I'm in LOVE with this comment. I enjoyed every word! Yes Kaden LOVES the simple things! And all he wants is his family to play with him:) Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this and share with us. Really hope to see you again every Friday!!!:) Thank you thank you.
My husband and I went for our first vacation last year. After being married 2 years and not having a wedding or honeymoon. But we also have no consumer debt. Vacations are more fun if you can afford it cash. Looking forward to doing it again in another 2 years.
I hear ya! Frugality is hard if you haven't practiced it your whole life. Everyone's situation is different. For some people it comes naturally, for others, like myself, is a worthy struggle. I really don't like the phrase/ word YOLO, but I understand it to certain point. We do go on vacation every year. But we plan for it and do it as frugal as possible. Thanks for sharing! ❤🙏
In my opinion, you have to plan for the future and that rainy day...but at the end of the day...life is short...go take that vacation if you can afford it! Maybe not every single year but at least every other year....create happy memories. I NEVER took a vacation like you for more than 10 years...but now I am prioritizing that into my life! Of course, I always try to find the cheapest flight, place to stay and ways to cut costs while on vacation. You'd be surprised at how many ways to vacay on the cheap.
If I died tomorrow, would I be proud of the way I’m living now?? Wow!! Good question!!! I do think about that. Where the heck is the balance?? It’s really hard to find.
I like that Julie:)
Your right! I love trips and the beach, can't go often like when was younger/ working .
I totally relate to this. I save all year so that I can take a beach vacation with my daughter. I’m frugal but spend money for things that matter to me.
YESSSS!
Hey Mar Mar! You just inspired me in return! Thank you so so much! LOVED reading this! I'll keep em coming!
A trick : you can watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Iker Nickolas Yup, I have been using Flixzone} for years myself :D
@Iker Nickolas Definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for years myself :)
@Iker Nickolas definitely, been watching on flixzone} for since december myself :D
Going back to gratitude is such a good piece of advice. Too many of us compare our lives to others and make ourselves unhappy as a result. Gratitude=joy.
YES YES YES!
Pauline, that means so much to me that you look forward to Fridays!!!!! Loved reading this!
Kate PREACH!! Yes absolutely being frugal is a struggle. But keeping your eye on the prize of paying off debt is so important. My #1 tool for saving money is meal planning. It can save you sooo much money. Great job! 👍
YESSSS!!! Thank you Debbie!
❤❤❤❤don't let your current circumstances, dictate your destiny.❤❤❤❤thank you for all the encouragement.
YESSSSS!!!!!
I was yolo for a very long time and it got me in debt.... so, since August of this year, I'm very frugal, I like it a lot because I see my debt going down, love your videos!!!
Thank you Manon!!! YES I always choose frugal now even though YOLO thoughts creep in!
Being frugal is not about being cheap, it’s about being resourceful
Totally!
I've just found your videos and am very impressed. I was a single mom also and lived a life being frugal. Now retired, being frugal is a way of life. I love your tips to live below for daily needs. You are teaching your son many valuable life lessons.
Thank you SO SO MUCH Jean!
God bless
Lee Ann
Once every 10 years.....I'm exactly the same. This year I went away with my sister because it was free and my son and I went camping for half price. Two holidays in one year, I'm in shock. Love you, you're so motivating.xx
LOVE YOU MORE! TWO HOLIDAYS in a year! That is AWESOME!
Enjoy today , but save a little today for tmrw 🤗
. You are making the best of what you’ve been given. And you’re smiling. And being thankful. What an inspiration!
Thank you Jackie🙏
Need to be frugal! Thank you Kate for encouraging me to think about finances and my values!
I’m here for ya!!! Hope to see you again Friday!
"Go back to gratitude." Thank you Kate 😃
YES YES YES!!!!!!!! Thank you Linda!!!!
I love getting these videos on payday gets my mind ready to pay Bills and be intentional with my money 💸💸💸
Oh April, that is a great point! PAYDAY thought videos! LOVE IT!
@@KateKaden you are the best!
Love the sweater.such a great color on you
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video! I really needed to hear this. I’ve been slipping into yolo lately & needed a reminder of what my priorities are..it’s definitely not easy being frugal!
YASSS!!!! It's SO tempting!!! But together we can keep our eyes on the prize. I'm so glad you are here!
Loved loved reading this Stephanie!!!! EXACTLY!!!! :)
You are so welcome Scott!!!!
Hey Kate! New sub here. Love your advice. I plan 6 months ahead to pay for trips to Florida or whatever with my 2 boys. I’m frugal on everything but vacations with your kids is a must for me! Experience and memories means so much!!
Randy, welcome to the family! I’m so glad you are here!!!
YES YES YES!!!!!!! YOU DO HAVE THIS TRACY!!!! And you are SO welcome!
I need to try The Good Place again. I only saw first episode. Thanks for the video Kate. I love your giving spirit.
Cathy, thank you so much!
@@KateKaden Thank you!
I just looked up “ The Good Place” on Netflix! I had never heard of it. Thanks for the suggestion and all the great content you produce.
I'm not frugal, but I enjoy watching to get tips on how to save more money.
I like that idea about giving something up to put towards something I actually want.
Thankyou for another great video.
You are so welcome! Catherine I'm so glad you are here:)
I know your hard work will pay off for you, as it has already paid off for me! Love the KATE method and it has made a huge difference. Have not seen the Netflix show you mentioned.
YOLO-more about relationships than stuff for me💕
Oooh I love that!
I think it is great you live in a place where Kaden gets to see his greatgrnd mother everyday. My children only have 1 grand parent and she moved from NJ to FL. So we don't see her often. I wish they had more of a relationship. That is more important then owning your own home.
Thanks Cindy!
Oh that's a great idea! (If I ever get anything in there!) LOL!!!!! That would be so fun!
01/07/22 👍 I agree, frugal living is more of what you want 😊 Time is non refundable spend it wisely.
I'm so so sorry to hear about your cousin. YES the balance is key for sure. So glad you are here Andrea:)
Stay in today
You rock!!
One Day at a time 🌹
Janet, YOU ROCK! :) Thank you so much!
I love your videos and share all I can on fb.I really admire you Kate.Keep on the way you are.Grandma is fortunate, and so are you and your son.PS, cash is king.
THANK YOU SO MUCH HEATHER!!!!!!
"What the Fork?" "Why can't I say Fork?"
Yesterday, I heard a term on a video JOMO Joy of Missing Out. It was mentioned in a video that popped up when I looked up How To be happy Living With Less.
I wish I could stop stressing about mobey but I know I'll get to that point. My plan is to leave my crazy nieces with funds not debt. I don't know how inheritance works
Good choice Kaden.
Im stuck between I want it and Cant afford it. I've learned that I wants are really the Advertising I watch.
HAHAHAHA!!! EXACTLY! What the fork???
LOVE IT!
I never ever go for vacation ...since 1992...was a high school student.
You're lovely and I appreciate and enjoy how much thought you put into your big life decisions. I empathize with you on YOLO and being pragmatic. It's a fine line to walk 😂🤣😬
Totally! THANK YOU so much!
Thank you SO SO much!
I think living there with your grandma is a great idea,...and your son's happy so you have time to buy later. Good advice as usual .
Thank you Coetta!
I know I can’t take it with me, and I’m good with not leaving a huge inheritance for others. But I would like enough money to make it to the end. LOL
Having a house is very expensive
BHAHAHAH!!!! HECK YES JOYCE!!!
It totally is isn't it. So many people on here are saying DON'T DO IT! and many are saying they love home ownership so much. I'll have to weight it all out:)
Joyce Gonzales. That’s how I feel about things. We don’t know what’s around the corner but we sure need to try to prepare for it!
The GOOD PLACE!!!! Yes, super funny at times. Loved reading this!!!
Haven’t seen it yet but I will check it out!
It's enjoyable for sure!
This is so beautiful Chantal. Thank you for sharing with us:) Your friend sounds like an amazingly beautiful soul!
Spend money on the things that make you "tick"! YES!
YASSS!
Could you do a part of a video talking about reasonable spending amounts on pets please?
I think you have the right idea. Gratitude + spending less on things that don't matter in order to have more for what does, is the way to go :)
Also, frequency matters. Being fine with and enjoying(!) the cheapest instant coffee most days means I can enjoy an extra large mocha latte for $7 once in a blue moon. And when I do go for those extra special treats only here and there, they taste/feel so much better.
LOVE THIS! Thank you Hugo! So glad you are here!
Hey Lissa! Loved reading this AS ALWAYS!!!!! Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
HECK YES!!!! Love this!!!!
This must be a Kate thing because I literally think about this everyday 😂 Love the KATE acronym
😍😍
You're so right, we can all pass away suddenly. That's exactly what happened this year to my only sister at the age of 49. Life is not guaranteed, so live your best one. Yes, my family takes a cruise every year. We use our income tax refund to do this. YOLO right!?
HAHAH! EXACTLY!
And I'm SO sorry to hear about your sister! 49 IS SO YOUNG!
It is easy to form a habit when yr focused on them. Keep yr focus on yr GOAL...
Thank you!
@@KateKaden yr welcome....
I want to visit all 50 States. So I plan all year for at least two places since my retirement .
That is so cool!
I have been to 38 so far during my work life. So I only have 12 more and I will be happy 🙌🙌
I hear you loud and clear!!!! Thank you for sharing Karen!
Thank you SO much for subscribing to Kaden's channel!!!! Appreciate that SO much!
Have you see this one? th-cam.com/video/hRPnbIzVKQ4/w-d-xo.html
And then there's the EveryDollar series that I did.
HAHAHAH! Shirtless Chidi was AWESOME! :)
I totally get it.you work to get out of debt.you want to celebrate.this is perfectly fine. But,watch the lifestyle creep. Meaning watch those small purchases that end up costing more, more, more.because if you dont curb it ,you end up back in even more debt.
YESSSS Rochelle! Totally!
I love "The Good Place". Also loved "Dead Like Me". We have not been on vacation since 2014 and that one was just to visit my parents... I hope to go on vacation but the other, bigger goals always seem to come first.
YASSSS!!!! thanks Sheila!
Being frugal is a breeze for me, I grew up dirt poor and refuse to live that life again.
I constantly want to learn new tips and tricks to be even more smart with what I've been given.
Carlene Materne love this Carlene!!!! Yasss!!!! If you haven’t seen my 30 frugal living tips yet, I think you’ll love that one:)
Yes, seen it! Good job!
P.s. love your sense of humor in your videos.
Happy New Year!
We prioritize travel. Do a years budget and identify all the slack money after expenses and the emergency fund and any essential home improvement and then plan trips. We have 1 year staycation, next year crazy amount of trips! We just want to make memories with the kids.
Love this!
OMG Sandra, THANK YOU!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your first child! How exciting! Thank you so much for watching and sharing with us!
Yes. I watch the good place. It is so funny. Your little boy is so adorable!
Thank you so much!
MINNIE! YOU ARE AMAAAAZING!!!!!! Sending you a huge hug from MAINE~!
6:25 I loved the Good Place!
Vacation is a priority to me, but I save for it. Vacations can be small and depending how you plan not as costly. I agree on balancing frugality and YOLO.
YASSSS Tanzella!!! AWESOME!
Hi Kate,
Prugne here, awesome video! I did not know what YOLO meant.
Now that most of my life is behind me, I most certainly think about what changes I would have made, things I would have done differently, but most of those things you only know from experience.
Things I'm glad I waited on were:
1. College
2. Kids
I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, I still don't know what I want to be... I guess I will know when I grow up.
I agree with you, security and comfort are more important than flash in the pan things.
Loved this Prugne!!!!!!
Camping vacations can be very frugal depending on your accommodations, tent, pop top camper, travel trailer. State and national campgrounds are clean, cheap and very kid friendly. Bring your food from home so no extra expense. Nothing like a campfire for fun!
I know so many people that LOVE camping!
Thank you Karen, loved this!
Thank you Bettina!
LOVE THIS KERSTIN! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Love what you do. So much to look forward to:)
I need this Kate method.
YASSS!!!!
I loved that show The Good Place. Kristen Bell is so cute.
Exactly, the best of both worlds.
You get me Patty! Thank you!
Jacob! TOTALLY. In the end, having that money saved feels so much better! I'm so glad you are here Jacob! Hope to see you again Friday morning!
Happy Frugal Friday!
Right back at cha Donna! Have an amazing weekend!
I will check out the Good Place.
It's pretty enjoyable! Loved Season 1 especially:)
I haven't seen the show. One YOLO thing I'm saving for is a once in a lifetime trip to Guam with my bestfriend. We are going in 2022 and I've started a savings account for the expenses.
Beautiful!
I went through this recently with a car. I have an old but reliable car. I started looking at cars - fortunately, the expected monthly payments made me return, relieved, to my paid off 2005 Honda CRV. Phew!
YES! PHEW! LOL!!!!!
@@KateKaden Hi Kate! Don't worry. I'm looking forward to you're next video!!!!
My husband and I went for our first vacation last year. After being married 2 years and not having a wedding or honeymoon. But we also have no consumer debt. Vacations are more fun if you can afford it cash. Looking forward to doing it again in another 2 years.
YESS! LOVE THIS!
Thank you so much for watching and sharing with us! OMG, yes YOLO!!! LOL!!!!
LOVE THIS!
Yeah! That face I love! Lol. Happy Friday!
HAHAHAH! Thank you Kelli!
Loved the good place
If I died tomorrow, would I be proud of the way I’m living now?? Wow!! Good question!!! I do think about that. Where the heck is the balance?? It’s really hard to find.
YESSSS!!!! :) Totally.
