Thank you Kate for validating me. I have too many rich friends who do all of the things you have mentioned. I of course can't or won't spend my hard earned money in these ways. I own my home, I'm single, and I did it for myself. It wasn't easy for me. I had no catch phrase business that I made millions from. I simply worked a regular job. I was married for a short time and have two children that I raised in addition to maintaining my life, I did not drive the pretty cars, have the pretty clothes, I do my own nails, fix my own hair and face. One more thing... I buy my makeup at the dollar store, for what you spend on one item even at Wal-Mart you can have everything you need, and my rich friends don't know. So, again thank you!!! Edit: I am now retired, life is good and I'm still frugal. I now have the pretty car... Because I saved for it.
Prugne Tramonto oh Prugne! As a single mama I was reading this screaming w joy! You earned all this! Way to go!!!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Hope to hear more from you next time! Have an awesome weekend!!!
@@KateKaden , I must admit that I have been lucky in my life, I once bought a car at an auction, it was a used Honda Accord, it had been seized in a drug bust, it had just over 2,000 miles on it, it was like buying a new car. While it looked a bit rough it drove like a dream. Recently it was stolen, all the thief wanted was the gas, he punched a hole into the gas tank and siphoned it out. I'm thankful the car wasn't completely ruined, and that it was found, I can still fix it. I look forward to your future video's, blessings 🐝 Oh, one more thing, "life is better when it is simple." Less stuff means more life.
I'm not a huge fan of buying clothes or furniture. I used to like it, but my goal is to get my life down to a backpack within the next 5 years, so that's a big one for me. Congrats to Kaden on his graduation and coming birthday!
One thing I do is "stretch" my laundry detergent. I buy my favorite laundry detergent (Gain or Tide) and use 1/3 cup of it and 1/3 cup of baking soda and that detergent has lasted for months and my clothes are bright white.
I am just a plain Jane...I live so simple. I am retired and I have always hated to shop. I have just what I need and if I don’t need it I glad to give it to someone who does.
Kate, I ain’t got time for ironing 🤣. When I was a teen my mom tried to teach me to iron. When I asked why I had to learn she said “what if you marry a man who needs his shirts ironed?” I just told her then he can iron them... 🤣 Fast forward a few years... I married a contractor... he rarely wears dressy clothes. Was that on purpose? I’ll never know 😉 hehe
Things I don't spend money on: 1-paper or plastic dishware/silverware/cups (I have a dishwasher); 2-paper napkins/towels (we are a cloth heavy family),3-new cars (My current 2010 only has 65,000 on it, no plans of replacing it anytime soon. When I do, it will be another lease turn in with low miles. Let someone else eat the depreciation, and no car loan to bother with),4-coffee from a coffee shop (although rarely we will go out for bfst and eat in), 5-name brand dish detergent (I find that the $1/50 oz La's amazing does the job just fine, thanks), 6-lots of skin products and make up( I have always taken good care of my skin, thanks to cystic acne starting at age 12. Daily sunscreen, light moisturizer, etc. Face powder, blush, mascara, eye liner, lipstick. I'm done. NOt fancy brands either . 7-Cold cereal (for health reasons, I've stopped buying cold cereal. Bonus: our milk consumption is way down. I am on a medical journey, much of it surrounds finding the correct eating plan for me to deal with 3 medical diagnosis) 8-Canned beans (again medical issue as well as economical. I am now low sodium so buy the bags, cook them up in a crock pot, bag up and freeze) 9-A ton of (altough cheap out the door) cleaning products. I'm simplifying many parts of my life, including my cleaning arsenal. Lemon oil and a flannel rag=dusting. Home made all purpose cleaner out of Dr Bronners (lasts me over a year for a large bottle) for kitchen, baths; home made isopropyl based cleaner plus T shirt rag=windows/mirrors. Baking soda to scour. My home is ubber clean, and done so cheaply. 10-Dryer sheets (read up on what they coat the dryer and your clothes with)-using up my last box, and turning to the 2 huge wool dryer balls I got (like new) on Freecycle. I also line/clothes horse dry when I can. 11-cute little note pads-I use all sorts of scrap paper before it gets recycled 12-the heat dry function on my dishwasher: I just open the door, allow to air dry 13-new bed linens or bath towels. I divorced in 2012, taking 50% of the marital possessions with me. A list of needs and another of wants was created. I fulfilled the lists by turning to the second hand market and stuck with neutrals for towels, knowing that I'd be renting for at least 5 years. I've scored like new LL Bean flannel sheet sets (we have a LLB store here) that must have been returns that were then donated to a local thrift store. $8 for a Queen set. Thud! I'm toasty warm w/o paying a ton of money. 14-trash bags. I am required to bag my trash, so I use every possible bag that comes into the home: the water softener bag, the ice meltchips bag, the catfood bag, store bags. I refuse to pay for something just to toss it. 15-pump soap and body wash-again for health and economy, we moved back to bar soap exclusively. NO plastic pumps t o break, no refills to buy/mix up.
I no longer buy dishwasher soap I add 2 tbs baking soda and 5 drops of plain old blue Dawn dish soap . I have never had a problem with suds . I fill a small bottle that has a old fashioned eye dropper top and as long as you don't out over 5 drops it is fine . My dishes never have spots they are clean and I don't use the heated dry they air dry .
Hi Kate, I don't buy, fabric conditioner, paper napkins, disposable wipes, kitchen roll, plastic bin liners, different cleaning products for bathrooms and kitchen, etc, you just made me realise how much money I'm saving , whilst also doing good for the environment.
Oh and YES on not wanting to be connected all the time! I have all notifications turned off on my phone besides text and phone calls. I minimized my phone by putting everything in folders and moving them to the second screen. I have do not disturb set to automatically turn on at 9 PM and not shut off until 9 AM. I deleted all social media apps from my phone and I only add them once every week or two… It takes 30 seconds to add it back on so you can check your stuff and then I take it back off. It SO ANNOYS me when the people in my life are glued to their phones and social media is a big culprit. I finally realized the only person I can control is myself, so while I can’t unfortunately force my family members to stop playing games on their phone or using social media all the time, I can set the example and do so for myself. I long for the days before the smart phone honestly.
Hey Kate, I'm new to watch you from the SF Bay Area. I love your black and white cat and how he likes to hang around you. They like to be in the same room and hear our voices. You are a breath of fresh air. I'm newly retired and looking to be more frugal. Thank you Thank you!!!!
I actually stopped using dryer sheets when I found out how bad they are for my towels and clothes. As long as I don't leave my laundry sitting in the washer for days (ew) I never feel the need to add perfumes and chemicals to my clothes. Turns out dryer sheets make towels less absorbent. Who knew??
I don't have much that I can share. I am retired. I pay my rent, electric bill, phone bill, and that's it. I divide put the rest into a allowance to buy food, toiletries etc. To last through the month. Don't own a car, and use public transportation. I love your tips an ideas, so will be trying some of them.
Kathrine Kerns For toiletries I use activated charcoal...i buy some at Sprouts put some powder in a glass jar and dip my wet brush and brush my teeth. For face oil cleanser and moisturizer I use organic, cold pressed, extra virgin coconut oil on my face to remove dirt and makeup if I used any for the day...wash out while in the shower and dab a little bit on my face. I have saved tons of money!!!
Great video. Congratulations on the graduation and Happy Birthday ! At the beginning of summer I make a trip to Dollar tree buy a variety of sunglasses there are 3 of us here so I buy 6 pairs . I also buy reading glasses for my husband and myself . I had a gentleman that managed a vision center tell me they were just as good as the reading glasses he sold . Have a blessed weekend .
I love your videos and your sense of humor, you are like fresh air, always smiling, been positive and connected with your life. Your videos always make me smile and relax. I don't spend any more in napkins, paper towels, crakers, salad dressings, catsup, mouthwash, plastic bags only in bathrooms, brit scotch fiber for dishes I swap them for sisal fiber are ecofriendly and cheaper, in general I try to give up on processed food. I no longer buy magazines I read them while Im waiting in line at the supermarket lol, I preper my own coffee, no sodas, no juices at all, my shopping list in my phone, no need for new apps or watches, I only spend on sunscreen, moisturizers for face and body, my vit A, vaseline for my feet, and in make up only replace my babylips Lip-Cheek and rimmel and ready to go. Sometimes I relap in simple things but it counts the intention to do it better. Greetings from your mexican twin sister. Kaden is growing. Happy summer !!
Leslie, this is such a sweet comment and I appreciate you kindness SO MUCH!!! I'm so glad you are here! And those are all great ones! Thank you for taking the time to watch and share with us! See you next time I hope!
No ironing for me either Kate! Same goes for gardening, wipes, fabric softener, apps tanning products or tanning beds, or paying for hair removal(anymore). Many years ago in 2009...I did invest in laser hair removal and it has saved me so much time, money and pain. It was money well spent.
I love this lol! My sister buys expensive makeup and sunglasses. I had some new sunglasses on the other day & she complimented me, I was like $10 @ Walmart. I don't do lashes, waxing or nails either. Congrats to your son!
Stephanie D I wish I could get away with $10 Walmart sunglasses. However since I’m practically blind, my prescription sunglasses lens would crush them. 😱 So instead, my RX sunglasses are a few years old & I really only wear them when the tinting on my regular glasses won’t work (spending day outside, driving towards the sun, etc).
I no longer buy magazines or books or car washes try wash my car at home,no longer buy eye glass cleaner or jewelry cleaner make my own. Great video!!!!!
Kate, now I know why I liked you from the first time I watched you . you sound just like me ! I don,t care about all those superficial things , I think those kind of things just clutter your house and mind. Have a great day!
Oh Kate, you are a woman after my own heart! I don't buy expensive sunglasses, either. Day before yesterday, I drove off from the gas station with my sunglasses on the top - I took them off to see how to put the gas in the can I use for mower gas. About a month before that, I sat on a pair in the front seat...grrr. My watch is a cheap Timex Indiglo that's supposed to light up when you press a button in the dark so you can see the time. That part gave out two years ago, but my watch goes on ticking. I don't buy nail polish nor have my nails done. I like the clean look of plain nails on me - it's okay for others, just not for me. I rarely buy any new clothes. I get most everything at Goodwill, church thrift shops, etc. I did spend $125 (yikes!) on a great pair of shoes nearly five years ago and they feel good and still look good. I rarely buy books although I love, love, love to read. I use the library because I like to hold the book I'm reading. I rarely buy cologne or perfume opting to ask for it for Christmas from family if they ask me what I want. I don't own a Swiffer. I use an old fashioned dust mop, regular mop, broom and vacuum for the floors. My best friend buys white potatoes (one at the time) wrapped in plastic wrap so she can nuke them in the microwave. WHAT? She also buys already cut up apples for her dogs in little bags instead of cutting one herself. WHAT? No wonder her grocery bill is high. There's probably a lot more that I don't buy, but these are things I thought of just now. I love your channel. Diane in North Carolina.
We have a 2008 Toyota Sienna fully loaded that we bought in Dec. 2007. I will be driving that until the engine falls out, transmission blows up and axles break. :)
Denise Kiser same here except with a 2009 Toyota Sienna. We did buy it brand new but we paid cash & didn’t have any debt. I always drive my vehicles into the ground. My last car was a 2 year old used Chevy cavalier (don’t buy them they completely suck - overheating issues) that we babied 2-3 years longer than they apparently last. We got about 8 years out of that car - 10 total because we finally stopped trying to replace the thermostat and just took it out. Which meant no overheating but also no ac or heater... in Oklahoma & in the winter stopping every mile or 2 to scrape off the windows or at least clean the fog... because no defrost either 😝. My Sienna we take great care of & trying to get at least 20 years or more out of!!!
I get paper towels from when I get gas, I grab some from the food area. When I go to work, they are provided, so I grab a few. I never did use them a lot, but I find just doing these couple of things I have amassed quite a few.
Happy Frugal Friday Kate & Kaden! With you on the ironing 😂 In addition to yours, I don't spend money on different cleaning products, I use eco friendly washing up liquid for everything! Right back atcha, I appreciate you sharing.
I am so glad I did the rx sunglasses. It was 2 pairs for the price of 1. I wasn’t sure if I would think it was a great idea but it was a great decision
WOW! Great Video. I am 54 and haven't ironed in the past 10 years or more. No plants, no gardening. We are in an apartment and considering buying a condo, because of low maintenance. He has a flip phone and I have blackberry. Like you I have no desire to always be connected. There are days that my phone is hardly used. Between my hubby and I we pay $50 a month for both phones. We live very simple and debt free for the most part. I have no desire for high end make up, I get most my make up with a coupon or at the Dollar Tree. (they have E.L.F. Brand) We do buy good sneakers because we feel it is worth it. However usually I get 1 pair a year and he buys a new pair every 3 years or so. Like you we don't feel or have the need to keep up with everyone else. It is so freeing when you don't have to stress on paying bills or wonder where your next meal is coming from.
I totally understand the whole don't want to wax thing. But I love it and I learned to do it myself. So I am cutting back on using services to do it. I'm also no longer spending money on pedicures and manicures I do it myself at home. as far as the shoes I recently discovered I have arthritis in my knee and I had been experiencing pain in my knee and hip and actually had to get fitted shoes so I love the flip flops but I can't wear them all the time anymore like I used to
I only use the dryer very sparingly in the winter months, hanging clothes to dry makes them last so much longer because i buy ethical quality clothing and need it to last our family as long as I can to prevent extra waste hitting landfills - my power bill stays super low as a result! We cut our own hair for the past 10 years (family of 6) drive 1 vehicle, meal plan, use discount codes whenever possible, regularly change insurance and other policies to get best deal, plan our trips to save on fuel and use reusable wipes for my twins in nappies, love being frugal, just a way of life! #mortgagefreegoalsimcomingforya
I do not buy any interior magazines, I use instagram and pinterest instead. I do not buy any more furniture or interior items, I recycle what I have. I have something for every season. I did not buy any clothes for this summer - I shopped in my closet instead. I do not wear out my summer wardrobe in my cold climate. (Norway) Foaming handsoap - I make my own - after a recipe on TH-cam. Saves me a lot of money. I wash my bathrooms with vinegar - stopped buying expensive cleaning products.
My mother ironed her sheets too! I have an iron and an ironing board but can't tell you how many YEARS it's been since they were used. Need to donate them - after dusting.😉.
My exception is cherry tomato plants on the balcony. Up to 2 cups of cherry tomatoes per day in the hot weather from 2 plants and daily watering. Does outside count?
WATER!! I never buy bottled water, I feel it's such a waste of $$. I can drink filtered tap water for free, and one of the rules of my life is to "never pay for something that I can get/use for free". I don't buy dryer sheets or fabric softener either, I use vinegar it disinfects, softens, & removes stains from all my clothes and it's dirt cheap too. Bought a 2 pk of dryer balls for $2 from TJ Maxx a couple of years ago, they eliminate static cling from my clothes, make them soft and fluffy, & reduce drying time! 😃
I have prescription sunglasses. Though I bought a $17 pair of no name sunglasses I love & took them to the Wal-Mart Optical & had them put the Prescription lenses in them. I have had them for like 3 years now.
I second the dryer balls! I got some alpaca felted fur dryer balls at the farmers market last summer and they are perfect! Cut your drying time down too
I don't get my nails done, 2 haircuts a year - and no hair dye, no tanning, hardly any makeup, I maybe spend $50 a year on shoes. Simple. I'm not a girly girl and fussing over my hair/makeup/clothes all day every day sounds like torture. And it saves me money, lol!
No makeup, no tanning. I work in a courthouse so I have to look semi-presentable 😂. I do use Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in the summertime so I can go without hose. I wish I could dress down every day, but I can’t. However, I utilize Goodwill, consignment stores, local and online, and have found some really good deals to get nicer clothing at cheaper prices.
Hi Kate. Rewatched as this popped up on my home page! Coincidentally you're sharing at the end about Kaden's birthday last year & Kaden just had his birthday yesterday!
Awesome tips, thanks!! I don't spend money on a ton of stain remover stuff either; I just throw stained clothes into the washing machine and hope for the best. I've also gotten very lucky and have been given almost all of my furniture for free from family members, and I've thrifted everything else. I have ONE ottoman that I bought for full price at Target, haha.
Jan From NYC Saves Money! I have purses & backpacks that I cycle through. When I want a different bag, I grab one of the others and use it for awhile. My bags last longer & I get a “new” bag for awhile.
Hi I’m new here!I love your videos. I am from New York. I am kind of new to a lot of the TH-cam world. I have been working towards saving money and enjoy watching and listening to what others are doing. I appreciate how “real” you are. I also don’t spend money on a lot of what you mentioned. I think I’m low maintenance and I’m ok with that. Off the top of m head, I don’t spend money on expensive toilet paper and I’ll use old fashioned clothes pins to close chip bags instead of fancy bag clips. Thank you for your tips. Also your son is adorable and I also have a July birthday and our teachers (way back when I was in school) never did anything for summer birthdays so I think that’s great!
Margaret! I am SO glad you are here! Welcome to my channel! Those are some good ones that you mentioned. I have many videos talking about saving money and frugal living if you're looking for more inspiration, totally poke around my channel:) And I do one every friday. And YES!!!! Was so excited to have his teacher celebrate his July bday in school! She thinks of everything and made every kid feel so special. The gratitude I feel for that woman is through the ROOF!!!! HAPPY WEEKEND friend! Hope you have a great day and hope to see you next time! Sincerely, Kate
I love you and Kaden together! Almost everything on your list; is on mine too. My only exception is stuff for my yard as I have a house. OMG on the ironing; hate it and not going to do it. Maybe I am in ironing recovery? My mom irons sheets and everything else!
Right there with ya on the sunglasses. After losing a designer pair in the ocean never again. Dollar Tree glasses work just fine besides I'm so hard on them that they are constantly getting scratch or lost.
Kick out the dryer, and go for fabric softener and a clothing rack! I have never owned a dryer - even when I had small children. It dries over night in the bathroom, with the underfloor heat. Keep a big bottle of vinegar - it cleans everything from the cat toilets to difficult spots on the clothes.
I love this kind of video! I don't spend either on all these things, except ironing I can't stand wrinkled clothes. The other thing is the Iwatch, once you see all the things you can do with it, they are awesome. It gives me the freedom of not carrying my ph around with me & yet I can be available if a important call or text comes in. otherwise everything is easy to ignore. I turned off notifications. I like technology but not all the time. To your son: Awesome job on kindergarten, and have fun this summer!
When I buy glasses, I get the BOGO on sale and I just have them put the Transitions in them so they become sunglasses. I would need prescription glasses anyway, regular or sunglasses. And since I have to wear my glasses all the time, I try to get double duty out of them. I don’t have vision insurance, so I use my flex spending account at the end of the year to purchase.
Hey there new friend! I think I miiiiiight have gone overboard on that one! I think you'll find that was the only one like that? I'm so glad you are here! Thank you so much for watching!
I stopped buying dryer sheets. Now I use the woolen dryer balls-6 of them to be exact. I have saved quite a bit. They also reduce drying time. I like your list of what not to buy. Kaden is as cute as usual. Love your videos.
I met a woman who worked for mentally challenged, and she claimed that she spent $1,000 on plants and flowers for her front yard !! And she said that if she had $200 , that she would spend it in 5 minutes. Not good . 😄 haha
I’m with you on plants. More unnecessary work. I do buy flowers at the grocery store a few times a year when they are super on sale. Sometimes I get a dozen tulips for $3.99 if I’m having company for the weekend or something but that’s it.
Congratulations to Kaden on Graduating Kindy! & what a great teacher for doing that for the summer kids birthday's! I've cut back on disinfectant wipes use, but I just can't give me them up. I now only use for toilet cleaning & if my dog has a little accident. Great video, Thankyou for sharing.
No stain sticks!! Lmao. I love it. I live for experiences! Three grown fabulous kids and a grandmother. I roam free in the world. On a budget. I will be cottage/pet sitting in Ireland for three months. When Covid19 goes away I will be returning to Nepal. And yes I am not waxing anything!!😂😂😂 . I love your content. Help me feel 'normal'. 😂😂😂
I don’t spend money on manicures or pedicures. My two money weaknesses are books and travel. Especially travel. And with covid I’m saving lots of money.
I can't recall if the Ocean State Job Lot has stores in Maine, but if so, check them out for cheap (brand name) sunglasses. I usually pay $3-8 a pair for sunglasses that get sat on and dropped all summer long.
My friends and I buy very few cleaning products. We clean basically everything in the kitchen and bathrooms with white vinegar. It’s amazing and is also a sanitizer. We also put in some laundry and it can clean some flooring. We stopped buying cleaners because of the expense and the chemicals.
I stopped buying those laundry scent boosters. I love my laundry to smell clean but I now make my own out of baking soda, course kosher salt and essential oils
This was a great video. I love the part about bras. I only have those colors too. I always think I should get a pretty bra, and then I think what a waste of money. 😂😂
I make my own dish soap two years, laundry degrent that last me up to 2 years , hand soap one year , and cleaning products I don't buy any paper towels i use mirofiber clothes ,i use a reuseable spone and plan my meals dont go out to eat cut my own hair use one skin care product dont pay for a gym member ship i dont buy trash bag i use the walmart bags and if i dont know how to do something ill looking up and learn how to do it myself and that's it i save alot doing it that way
Wipes, I always see as a waste, period. My son’s butt was wiped, as a baby, with wet wash rags after getting excess in the diaper. Clean your face with olive oil & a wash rag. Clean the home with a mix of vinegar & alcohol, using a wash or dish rag. Napkins, paper towels; use wash or dish rags. Rags people, rags. Never had diaper rash & we never wiped his butt raw.
I wear 3 bras they are all the same type, 2 special occassion bras, i dont see the need for a i watch, my phone is always around, and thats too much sometimes, wat does the watch even do??
Dian I'm SO glad you are here! (From FRANCE!!!! So wonderful!) Thank you so much! Hope you get a chance to check out my VLOGMAS videos this month! (A new video every single day leading up to Christmas! Hope you can join me!) Today will be the third one! See you again soon I hope!
I love hearing your money saving tips. Just discovered you, so don’t know if you’ve reported on cold cereal. More than 90%. Is loaded with sugar, plus food coloring, clever naming that appeals to kids. Stand at the end of a long aisle and see both sides packed with boxes of cheap cereal selling for $5 a box, with advertising directed toward youth.
Lol that girl loves loves loves her cereal. She could probably not have teeth & still eat her cereal that she loves.... she loves all the cereal - sugar or more healthy! 🤣🤣🤣 Kate had me rolling on that one!!
Thriftbooks.com has cheap used books if you need to buy any or if child's school is requesting a certain book...Most children's books are $3-ish and most books $5.
@@KateKaden ,

Oh, one more thing, "life is better when it is simple." Less stuff means more life.
Pay or play....well done
I'm not a huge fan of buying clothes or furniture. I used to like it, but my goal is to get my life down to a backpack within the next 5 years, so that's a big one for me. Congrats to Kaden on his graduation and coming birthday!
Thank you Amy! A backpack within 5 years would be AMAZING!
How's your backpack plan going Amy? 20.10.21
I love how real you are. Love your videos.
Thank you so much Heidi!!!!
One thing I do is "stretch" my laundry detergent. I buy my favorite laundry detergent (Gain or Tide) and use 1/3 cup of it and 1/3 cup of baking soda and that detergent has lasted for months and my clothes are bright white.
Oooh, good idea!
I use less than half of recommended amount of laundry detergent! Sometimes I add Borax powder
Donnalee Clubb I stretch ours too... HE washer & put it on 6x dispenser rather than 1x
I like the idea of the baking soda. Do you use it every load or just whites?
If you use liquid fabric softener...cut it in half with water. Works just as well.
Take cuttings if you ever fancy a plant. Your grandma will probably have some left over compost and used little plant pots
I am just a plain Jane...I live so simple. I am retired and I have always hated to shop. I have just what I need and if I don’t need it I glad to give it to someone who does.
PERFECT!!!!
Kate, I ain’t got time for ironing 🤣. When I was a teen my mom tried to teach me to iron. When I asked why I had to learn she said “what if you marry a man who needs his shirts ironed?” I just told her then he can iron them... 🤣 Fast forward a few years... HAHAHAHAAH! Jen, omg I loved this!
Ms. Pants lol 😂

You really are frugal in many creative ways.
Oooh, good tip!
@Susie Bosh yes and also in place of putting a drying agent like the jet dry fill it up with white vinegar I never have spots on my dishes .
Working on using pure Castile soap for as many uses as possible, which means I am gradually using a lot less stuffs.
Awesome!
I do not buy dryer sheets.
Sherry Haning. Me either. I use white vinegar which softens clothing and everything comes out smelling great!
I don't like the smell of dryer sheets. I use super diluted liquid fabric softener. I like the idea of using white vinegar.
I use dryer balls...no dryer sheets or fabric softener due to the toxic stuff they use in them.
Ha! My mother irons, too. She loves to iron. She thinks it is relaxing. I can't imagine!
I like ironing! It was actually my job at one point :)
YES! I've heard that too! But def not for me currently:)
Hi Kate, I don't buy, fabric conditioner, paper napkins, disposable wipes, kitchen roll, plastic bin liners, different cleaning products for bathrooms and kitchen, etc, you just made me realise how much money I'm saving , whilst also doing good for the environment.
Great ones Linda! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jenroxx!!! I'm SO glad you are here! Welcome to the family!!!!! Thank you so much for this comment!
I actually stopped using dryer sheets when I found out how bad they are for my towels and clothes. As long as I don't leave my laundry sitting in the washer for days (ew) I never feel the need to add perfumes and chemicals to my clothes. Turns out dryer sheets make towels less absorbent. Who knew??
AHHH!!!! thank you for this info!!!!
I agree with all 15! Congratulations Kaden!
Thank you Raquel!!!!
Thank you so much Kathrine!
Thank you so much Marcy! Love reading your comments.
You are too funny.
I get my sunglasses at Walmart, Dollar Tree or thrift store.
My feet are at the age where I can no longer shop at Payless. LOL
LOL!!!! Thank you Sue!!!!
I ordered wool dryer balls from amazon. They work great. Each ball lasts around 5 years. Depending on how much laundry you do.
Beckie Zwart What ingredients do you use for your eye cleaner?
Kate, now I know why I liked you from the first time I watched you . you sound just like me ! I don,t care about all those superficial things , I think those kind of things just clutter your house and mind. Have a great day!
Vivian, I knew I liked you!!! LOL!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you SO much Diane!!!!! Loved reading your comment! White potatoes one at a time?? INTERESTING! LOL!
2cips of water mixed with dawn dish rd soap mixed put on stain use old toothbrush scrub works got my set in coffee stain
We have a 2008 Toyota Sienna fully loaded that we bought in Dec. 2007. I will be driving that until the engine falls out, transmission blows up and axles break. :)
YASSSSSS!!!!!
My vehicle is a1994 suv luv it!
I don’t buy paper napkins anymore
I use paper towels
I get paper towels from when I get gas, I grab some from the food area. When I go to work, they are provided, so I grab a few. I never did use them a lot, but I find just doing these couple of things I have amassed quite a few.
Donnalee Clu
Happy Frugal Friday Kate & Kaden! With you on the ironing 😂 In addition to yours, I don't spend money on different cleaning products, I use eco friendly washing up liquid for everything! Right back atcha, I appreciate you sharing.
Mr Hanam? & Bunz there has to be a story here 😂
HAHAHAHHAHA!!!!! WEIRD NAMES RIGHT>!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
I have RX sunglasses. The only reason they are nice is my insurance offsets the costs. There was like a 50% off sale.
Ooooh! I love 50% off!
Baking soda in the wash makes water softer and stains come out much easier and it’s cheap
Thank you so much!
Dryer sheet alternative: wool dryer balls. Essential oils if you want a scent.
Thank you Lauren!!!!!!
I totally understand. Have a great weekend!
Thank you Margaret! You too!
I totally understand the whole don't want to wax thing. But I love it and I learned to do it myself. So I am cutting back on using services to do it. I'm also no longer spending money on pedicures and manicures I do it myself at home. as far as the shoes I recently discovered I have arthritis in my knee and I had been experiencing pain in my knee and hip and actually had to get fitted shoes so I love the flip flops but I can't wear them all the time anymore like I used to
I don’t waste money on Magazines. I was I had every dollar I’ve spent in my 20’s, 30s and 40’s on Magazines 🙄
I have let my subscriptions run out. 1 is almost out. Also now they have auto renewal...say what?
Tx 4paws. Me, too. Back then it was all about “Glamour” and “Cosmopolitan.” No more. If I want to read a magazine, I’ll get it from the library!
Hi Shan! Loved reading this! Have an awesome Sunday!
Except for some plants, outdoor annuals, I agree with all your no spend items.
Thank you c finn!!!
Thank you so much for sharing Ibislife!
My mother ironed her sheets too! I have an iron and an ironing board but can't tell you how many YEARS it's been since they were used. Need to donate them - after dusting.😉.
LOVE!
My exception is cherry tomato plants on the balcony. Up to 2 cups of cherry tomatoes per day in the hot weather from 2 plants and daily watering. Does outside count?
This was great love your list! Thanks for sharing ❤️
I love TJ MAXX! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I use those balls that fluff up and help dry sheets and towels. They last forever.
Oh nice! Thank you for sharing with us Denise! I'm so glad you are here!
i dont buy paper towls anymore or cleaning products. i use rags and make my own.
Awesome Heather!!!
Love your videos dear! Have you mentioned anywhere what you do for a living? Wishing you both the very best!
I have prescription sunglasses.
Though I bought a $17 pair of no name sunglasses I love & took them to the Wal-Mart Optical & had them put the Prescription lenses in them.
I have had them for like 3 years now.
Such wisdom!!! Great job, Kaden!!
Thank you Lorene!
I second the dryer balls! I got some alpaca felted fur dryer balls at the farmers market last summer and they are perfect! Cut your drying time down too
Oooh thank you!
Always look forward to your videos tfs
Thank you so much Darlene!!!!! Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate you!
Tons of money! Awesome Melanie! I like the simplicity for sure!
I do dye my hair. Revlon Colorsilk. $2.97
W Sue Henna is even cheaper $3 and can dye my hair 3 or more times w it.
Keep things simple!
YASSSSS!
Yay! I was so happy to see a new video on my feed! Thank you Kate for uploading and congratulations Kaden graduating kindergarten!
Thank you Jennifer!!!! I'm so glad you watched and commented! Love having you here!!! Have an awesome weekend! See you next video! xo
Hi Kate. Rewatched as this popped up on my home page! Coincidentally you're sharing at the end about Kaden's birthday last year & Kaden just had his birthday yesterday!
Ahhhh!!!! Perfect timing!
"I don't ski, I don't golf, I don't surf" LOL That part made me LOL.
BAHAHAHH!!!! #keepinitreal
Loved reading this. Thank you for watching Lauren!
Dryer sheets. Don't buy those you don't need them.
Do you do the dryer balls? Or nothing at all?
Pale skin, no waxing, no fake eyelashes, tats because frugal people appreciate natural beauty! 😁😁
Love this Jas!
Kate Kaden 😆😆
No more brand new handbags ( like the old days). I get "new" at the thrift store . 5 is enough for the year.
PERFECT!
Jan From NYC Saves Money! I have purses & backpacks that I cycle through. When I want a different bag, I grab one of the others and use it for awhile. My bags last longer & I get a “new” bag for awhile.
Kim Painter Yes! I got a purse from the Thrift store for $3 lol and I get compliments all the time :D
When I have a stain on my clothing I just use my Dawn dish soap it works perfect
Oooh! Great tip! Thank you!
First thing you can do to save money is move from New York. LOL. Just kidding.
Sincerely,
Kate
Thank you! Have a nice weekend. I have checked out other videos that you have done as well, you are very inspirational. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Lol I know that’s my plan to move out of New York State. Im not in the city though so it could be worse.
@@margaretward7682 I was just kidding. I hear the country side of New York state is just beautiful. I am just a southern girl.
I love you and Kaden together!
Almost everything on your list; is on mine too. My only exception is stuff for my yard as I have a house.
OMG on the ironing; hate it and not going to do it. Maybe I am in ironing recovery? My mom irons sheets and everything else!
Have a great day Kate! 🥰
Thank you Destiny! You tooo!!! So glad you are here!
I get my sunglasses at the dollar tree $1. And they’re cute!
I will def check that out!
Right there with ya on the sunglasses. After losing a designer pair in the ocean never again. Dollar Tree glasses work just fine besides I'm so hard on them that they are constantly getting scratch or lost.
YIKES! In the ocean???
To your son: Awesome job on kindergarten, and have fun this summer!
misssocialdeb thank you so much Deb! Love Kate and Kaden❤️❤️❤️
Everything you listed except I “need” a plant every now and again! Happy Birthday Superhero 🎉🚨🎈
Thank you so much!
BeachBalance Or u can get them on Clearance or sometimes they have plants at the 99 cents store
I agree BUT maybe 2 or 3 times a month I do use my iron because I do not use my dryer
Wait, ironing your sheets is a thing??!! 😂 welll I guess that’s a #MomFail for me 😂
I don’t even own an iron lol! Love your channel.
BOOM! Same Rachel! HAHAHAHAHHA!!!! NO SHEET IRONING FOR THIS GAL! Thank you so much for watching!
You are awesome! Thank you for making these videos❤️
You are very very welcome! I'm so glad you are here!
I'm new here and love your videos, but holy cow 6 ads in one video
Hey there new friend! I think I miiiiiight have gone overboard on that one! I think you'll find that was the only one like that? I'm so glad you are here! Thank you so much for watching!
Kate Kaden ha it’s all good I’ll
Stick around 😊
Im in transition to never buying phisical copy of music and movies again.
Great idea Scott!
We keep a few if our wifi goes out (rats eat our cords) so our kids can watch something.
I stopped buying dryer sheets. Now I use the woolen dryer balls-6 of them to be exact. I have saved quite a bit. They also reduce drying time. I like your list of what not to buy. Kaden is as cute as usual. Love your videos.
Thank you so much!!! And I'm going to have to look into these woolen balls!
I met a woman who worked for mentally challenged, and she claimed that she spent $1,000 on plants and flowers for her front yard !! And she said that if she had $200 , that she would spend it in 5 minutes. Not good . 😄 haha
I'm a list person and loved this. Happy Birthday young man.
Thank you so much Beth!
I’m with you on plants. More unnecessary work. I do buy flowers at the grocery store a few times a year when they are super on sale. Sometimes I get a dozen tulips for $3.99 if I’m having company for the weekend or something but that’s it.
Oooh, I do love tulips!
Thank you Catherine!!!! Oh he had such a great year! As a Mama, I could not have wished for a better experience for him for his first year at school:)
Congrats Kaden!! 🙂
Oooh! Good idea!
They dryer balls,save$ & enviroment😉🇹🇴
I've gotta try these!
My friends and I buy very few cleaning products. We clean basically everything in the kitchen and bathrooms with white vinegar. It’s amazing and is also a sanitizer. We also put in some laundry and it can clean some flooring. We stopped buying cleaners because of the expense and the chemicals.
Thank you for sharing B Clark!!!
I stopped buying those laundry scent boosters. I love my laundry to smell clean but I now make my own out of baking soda, course kosher salt and essential oils
This was a great video. I love the part about bras. I only have those colors too. I always think I should get a pretty bra, and then I think what a waste of money. 😂😂
LOL! Right? Maybe someday I'll get a fun pink one just for fun! LOL!
Color I have is Rosewood (beige)
Heaps of swag today Kate. You go girl.Lol
Thank you Richard!
I make my own dish soap two years, laundry degrent that last me up to 2 years , hand soap one year , and cleaning products I don't buy any paper towels i use mirofiber clothes ,i use a reuseable spone and plan my meals dont go out to eat cut my own hair use one skin care product dont pay for a gym member ship i dont buy trash bag i use the walmart bags and if i dont know how to do something ill looking up and learn how to do it myself and that's it i save alot doing it that way
Love this!
Raw butt is the worst! LOL! Thank you so much for sharing!
I wear 3 bras they are all the same type, 2 special occassion bras, i dont see the need for a i watch, my phone is always around, and thats too much sometimes, wat does the watch even do??
Sunglasses…. I have one pair, about 20 years old “GUESS” and that’s it😅😅
Lol I’m opposite. Plants are awesome and I can’t imagine not owning an iron, I would walk around with wrinkled dresses 😂. Great video though!
Me too. I iron my clothes and my husband's clothes.
your little man is so cute Kate. Love your vidéos. I'm from France 😊
I don't buy cold cereal either and haven't for quite a while. It's very unhealthy, I think, even the so-called "healthy" ones.
Lol that girl loves loves loves her cereal. She could probably not have teeth & still eat her cereal that she loves.... she loves all the cereal - sugar or more healthy! 🤣🤣🤣 Kate had me rolling on that one!!
That blouse looks good on you.
Thanks so much!
I don’t spend money on books, magazines, a newspapers or any subscriptions. I do read books but get them from the library or Libby App.
Thank you Kim! YASSS!
Thriftbooks.com has cheap used books if you need to buy any or if child's school is requesting a certain book...Most children's books are $3-ish and most books $5.
I agree with all of these!!!!
Thank you Candi!
