  • More than a third of people in the UK think immigration has had a negative impact on society. That's according to a YouGov poll by Sky news.
43% said it had had a negative impact on British society, compared to 35% who said it had had a positive impact.
Younger people were more likely to view it as positive.
But when it came down to the economic benefits, 39% of people thought it was good, and 37% thought it had a negative impact.
People surveyed said that if immigration was cut the NHS, hospitality, universities and social care would suffer. But that cutting it would have a positive impact on housing.

It amazes how this guy thinks sending money out the UK to places like Zimbabwe is good for the UK

Uncontrollable immigration is 100% not good for Britain. Our economy is wrecked by the amount of illegal immigrants flooding into our country. A whistleblower from the DWP informed us that they have been told to fast track immigrants suffering PTSD for housing and disability benefits. An interpreter told us that immigrants are coaching each other on how to present with PTSD. This whistleblower also said that British people in need of help are not getting it because DWP bosses demand that they have to reject as many disability claims as possible. Now our own sick and disabled are being punished and blamed for the state of the economy. Stop using our taxes to pay illegal immigrants benefits and this will solve the problem of economic migrants using Britain as a free cash cow. Why do you think droves of illegal immigrants are by passing other european countries in favour of Britain? It’s definitely because we are looking after them to well. I welcome legal Migrants on a need only basis.

The hospitals would not have to shut down because the UK population would drop by over 10 million.

Regulated migration could be good but not at the rate of 780,000 a year the UK has only 10% of acreage suitable for building on

What about quality? It’s well known that overseas qualifications are not always comparable but nobody seems to talk about that. Or until fraud is evident!

Medical qualifications- nursing- especially!!! Horrific lack of competence because hiring decisions are based on skin colour and sexual orientation instead of experience, qualification, competence and excellence.

@@BasutuEquestrian I absolutely hear you! Competency outcomes should very carefully cross referenced and any gaps require bridging training. Nursing quals are NOT international and are meant to be set by the country concerned. Diversity, skin colour race etc should have no bearing as we are all meant to be working to the same legislation and standard.
I trained in the nhs old school and proud of it. When I emigrated to Australia the nurses board asked for a transcript of everything
I had studied for my quals. This was despite me having already worked overseas. Also because I had completed sick kids for 3 years before doing my general for 1 year. Kids nursing is much more challenging than general and I was glad I did it that way asi believe it made me a better nurse. Once I had the evidence they registered me right away.
I laterally worked in tertiary education teaching aged care and disability. Out here you can’t get a job without it which I fully support. So I am familiar with overseas quals.
Imagine my shock when I recently discovered that INdian qualified nurses are being given visas as part of the trade deal with Aus! Even worse is the language proficiency element is being bypassed! Effective communication is a fundamental part of what we do. My adult daughter has contact with many nursing homes in her work and she tells me that we now have Indian nurses who can’t not only converse with professionals and clients but also can’t fill it forms despite them being legal documents. It beggars belief.
The abc had report on Monday just gone in that we have a real problem with Indian spies. It would seem that there is an issue with Hindus infiltrating local and government positions. I can’t see the current government getting a second term because of it. And our PM is piss weak and his eye was not on the immigration ball. Our immigration numbers were as high as the uk but we are a population of only 26 million. And while Oz has a huge land mass it’s only habitable around the coast.
Anyway the immigration requirement for a workplace visa should be standard for ALL.no matter where you are from. Anything else is blatant discrimination.
      Apologies for the rant!

The price of housing is dictated by supply and demand. The population of Brits has barely increased over the last 30 years. Yet the population has increased by over 10 million. There is no way we can build houses fast enough for all the immigrants that are coming. Also house prices in 97 were 3-4 times the average salary. Now the average house is 12 times the average salary.

House prices going through the roof is down to those folks down at The City of London. The only foreigners that have any impact on the price of housing increasing are multimillionaire investors who don’t even live here! The government made the decision not to build enough housing - they most certainly could have had a council house building programme if they have wanted to. They chose not to.

Why can’t British be trained to do nurses job? English people decide to live on benefit instead of working. Immigration is British people’s own problem I think

They're both correct. Migration is essential especially for the NHS. Some of our best consultants and doctors are from other contries. However, this government didn't want to train up their own british staff through apprenticeships within the NHS and instead recruited 400,000 nurses from other conutries, some from red list countries (countries who's nursing training doesn't even come close to our NMC nursing standards) sometimes there is a huge language barrier. This is so unsafe and the wards prove it I'm afraid time and time again 😢

Immigration keeps our wages low as the business can employ people on lower wages and keep our wages low
