- Is there anything wrong with gender-neutral toilets?
Under new legislation proposed by the government all new restaurants, shopping centres and offices in England will be required to have separate male and female toilets.
The Equalities Minister, Kemi Badenoch, has said the law is part of a push to 'end the rise' of gender-neutral toilets - which they say 'unfairly disadvantages' women, the elderly and disabled people.
But transgender rights groups have argued these spaces protect trans people from discrimination.
So is there anything wrong with gender-neutral toilets - or is the government trying to fix something that wasn't broken?

I’m a guy and I took my sister swimming once, she was 9 and I had a struggle if to take her into the male changing rooms with me or let her go into the ladies on her own. In the end we found a gender neutral toilet (disabled loo) where she could change. Problem is we had to go through the changing rooms to get to the pool. I had to close her eyes and we quickly went though the men’s.
Now in wales where I’m from our old local pool we have had a gender neutral changing rooms with full doors with individual locks on since the 90’s. It was far easier!!
I am a Male, and I don't feel comfortable with gender neutral toilets.
Don't go to a tiny old restaurant then. There is one near me that's been there since the 1950s and will be forced to close if they need to cut into their eating space to build a new toilet block.

Separate toilets are needed . No excuses needed. Give each sex privacy
Piss on the floor and seat is not great and if a woman has a baby that she needs to put on the floor it shouldn't be covered in piss
Hold it for as long as possible till I get home....no privacy any where..
If there are 2 separate, single basic toilets with a lock, often found in coffee shops, I think it’s ridiculous to make one male and one female. I’ll use whichever one is empty.

How can this woman say it's not a problem to share toilets with men? I'm a woman and it would be a problem for me to have to share toilets with males and I certainly would have hated it in school with boys sharing our toilets

Plus she said 'its not a problem for most of us' not just for herself. She can speak for herself but not for other women. She also said the sight of urinals puts her off so it's obviously a problem for her in that respect

My Scandinavian friends were surprised by segregated toilets, changing rooms, saunas etc when they came to London 20 years ago.
Remove all urinals. Make all toilets the same, individual and accessible 13 x 13 with its own door.
With single sex toilets people can observe who goes in and often..this is the ladies is sufficient.. otherwise authorities can be called.. if trans hate lawsare in place any predator can come in and get a woman arrested for objecting

@DavidHafnium most abuse takes place in the home or by people known to the person. Most sexual abuse happens within the family or by a family friend. Sexual violence is very rarely committed by a stranger, it's most often committed by a person known to the victim -a friend, a boyfriend, a friend of a friend, a husband, an ex. Statistically it's rarely a stranger -the phrase 'stranger danger' is outdated coz crime stats tell a very different story..

I would be interested to see if they have spokespeople for the Green Party on as many times as they invite people from the Reform Party on this show. Thus far that has not happened but after seeing the results of the local elections it seems somewhat biased to not do so.

IF its not broke, why fix it.

My opinion is for this program whatever the topic not to have this bias woman on she is not English and I watch JV most days but when she is on and also that other woman who stutters a bit dont know her name I turn of .

Because cis gender non conforming are harassed in women's bathrooms and asked to leave? This happened to a friend of mine in her 70s (she was a butch lesbian) she experienced similar harassment when she was dying in hospital. Due to her masc presentation despite being a cis woman the rise in transphobia led to a rise in harassment against her with people 'policing' toilets
I have also had non binary (afab -assigned female at birth) friends also harassed in women's loos due to the same issue when they would be unsafe in the men's loos.
Because when people use the toilet it's coz they want to do their business and should be left to do so in peace
