Allen's sense of humor is delightful! While Tai Chi-ing, his fleeting random thoughts or "monkey mind" chatters away, and he records and recites it in poetry...so true to life and relatable. Enjoyed this video, and enjoy hearing Allen's voice reading his poetry.

So New York. Anyone who has lived there in a small apartment can relate. So funny and true.

First time I've heard St. Francis of Assisi in the same breath with Tai Chi.

I never forgot this little film that i caught on TV in the early 90s? Late 80s? Was it PBS or Public Access? I have thought of it (and on it) many many times over the years. Thank you so much for your show and for posting this.

Tré Marsh If you mean United States of Poetry on PBS -- I produced them both, with Allen having complete input as he always did.

***** Ha, that is awesome. Allen was my favorite. I used to have 5 minutes of Howl memorized. Makes sense that they were styled similarly. Sorry for saying you hacked yourself.

it depends on which part of the country they live in. Most prefer to be named by their tribal name rather than be lumped together but both "Native American" and "American Indian" is acceptable if you do not know the tribal name. They do not all "prefer" to be referred to as "Native Americans" esp since we know they actually immigrated from Siberia! And it is accepted that the tribes we know the names of, sometimes brutally murdered and plundered the tribes we don't know the names of.
