    You sir are a GENIUS. I never even THOUGHT of using my drill press like that. Gonna be doing that moving forward on my sheaths and holsters.

    Great video - Love the drill press tip. I got a killer deal on a nice toaster oven when Bed Bath and Beyond stores were going out of business, and it does kydex like a charm!

    Nice kydex sheath process video Denis! If your press fits in a vise you can also do a quick one handed clamp up that way. Good job getting the spine tight into the fold of the kydex and showing how to accomplish it!

      Thanks for checking out this video, Will! The press doesn't exactly fit into a vise I'm afraid. The dual hand clamps are working so far though.

      @@TyrellKnifeworks yeah that one definitely won’t. I designed mine specifically to work that way. Your hand clamps definitely work. It didn’t even occur to me to go that route for some reason. I also used leather hinges so I don’t have to worry about where in the press the knife and kydex land. Of course, I usually can’t find it and end up just standing on another set of foam with a board 😅

    I love using the off drill press. I have always used a light hammer to give it just a little tap. I've gotten pretty good at it, but this is much easier to contol and consistent.

    Going to sound really dumb, but I've used ovens, my kiln, heat guns and all sort of things but if I get distracted it turns to goo. What I found is that a sandwich press is exactly the right temp for Kydex, heat it up, lie it in there on some greaseproof paper and don't close it. Direct contact convection heats it up just right and doesn't mean its suddenly turning to goo somewhere in a dark oven where you can't see it

    • @TyrellKnifeworks
      @TyrellKnifeworks  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s a good idea. I don’t really do that much kydex so I’m fine with the oven, but I can see your idea being a great one for guys that do a lot. 👍

    The biggest problem I have with kydex knife sheaths is that I always get little crumbs on the inside of the sheath that are really difficult to clean out, even with forced air. Then they ended up putting little scratches on my blades.

      The key is getting those out before you put in eyelets and not doing any grinding afterwards. 👍. Thanks for watching.

    You had a natural drain hole with the fold (taco), but if not folding, I use a wooden skewer (for grilling kabobs). I split the pointed end & place it on the tip of the knife. Trim the skewer length & just make sure it’s where you want it when you put the 2 pieces of Kydex together in your press. 🫡
