you're thinking of things with three legs, not triangles. They won't wobble if the floor is uneven. They will not self level the top though. if you want it to be easy to level, cut a hole near the point of each corner. Weld a nut and use a bolt through it to adjust the height of each corner until it is level. This will also essentially give it 3 legs keeping it from wobbling.
I made a rack for my angle grinders with 5/8 rod welded to a 1/4 X 11/2 X20" flat iron , just stick the handle over the rod to hang the grinder. Just space the rods for hanging. screwed to the wall.
MIG gun liners are always supplied long. You cut to length after installed as it’s good pre rice to blow them out with compressed air occasionally. I see to use a roll of MIG wire a day for 20 years and only changed liners if they got kinked. If you get a lot of dust tir a piece of shop rag to the wire before it Enders the rollers. It’ll act as a wiper for the wire. Never use rusty wire
I like that the si system is european only. Inches is theese days only used in usa liberya and myanmar :) It was a solid stand though in both measuring systems🎉
Will wasn't kidding when he said plasma cutting is messy. I did some cutting in my friend's shop, and the brand new filter in the air cleaner got clogged with rust. Everything you cut out of your steel goes into the air as iron vapor.
It's not just Europe that uses centimeters instead of inches-it's pretty much the rest of the world that uses centimeters. It's almost only in the U.S. ang G.B. that stick to inches, but you'll probably catch up one day in the U.S. 😊
Actually, American Engineers (like me) have to be equally proficient in BOTH systems and have to convert back and forth constantly. One thing about converting completely to Km/Hr is changing all the road speed limit signs!
"Did I Over Build This Vise Stand?" No, in fact, I think you should have melted down a bunch of tungsten and poured it into the stand. Then it'd be EXTRA stable.
For a quick fix on liner sometimes all it takes is to blow some compressed air through them. We do that often at work in the field when it's not possible to go to a shop and get a new liner
Hi Will If you put a quick connect fitting in the middle of that triangle when you want to move it you just hook up shop air and move it across the shop floor with one finger. Maybe next time.
@@Seelenschmiedeat 10 psi you would only need 88 sq.in. If that triangle is 24x24 it is 288 sq. In. If he has 50 psi continuous shop air he could lift 14400 lbs.

Vice stand looks great Will! I have to ask; were those hammer heads faulty or are they in good shape? Because i was planning on buying a hammer from the Alec Steele Co shop before it shut down, and i was never able to get one. Is there any way to get one of the heads you have left over if they are in good shape?
You should use those hammers to make things. It would be good videos showing how you dont always need new steel. You can make tools and Damascus knives with them. Or pick up where he left off and sell some hammers with your name on them. Saving you alot of time and money just adding your own touch to them.
Great stand, however i'd have done one thing differently. The base under the front of the vise, i'd have extended the base forward for stability sake. I know its heavy but if you ever have to hang anything off the front of the vise it will help stop it from tipping.
I enjoyed this channel for the high quality craftsmanship and fabrication processes related to bladesmithing - sad to see that 90% of these videos are just shop/tool updates, product reviews, or clickbaity "watch me squash this stuff" cash grabs. Would be cool to see you refocus on making knives/blades!
A lot of em would have been wanted despite being classed as failures. They would have been perfectly fine as tool blanks, even just built up with weld and heat treated softer.
The hammer heads were mostly mangled or were scrapped for various reasons, they’re not fit to be sold or given away
So sad😢 I would love a little project hammer to get into blacksmithing

Oh my goodness… seeing all those hammer heads going into the sealed sand pit of doom killed me!
An absolute waste. He could have handed them out to visitors or sold them.
At least scrap them. That’s a lot of money just sitting there. Rocks, dirt, and concrete would have worked.
What a damn waste.
i would buy a couple of those hammer heads even if there rejects, means i can practice grinding hammers for when i try make a couple

triangles sit flat on an uneven floor if they have 3 feet. not necessarily if they are a flat plate.
3 points makes a plane. The one definition I remember from geometry.

Buy one, support them, and you get a free hammer 😂

That is only when you have 3 points of contact. If you look at the final shot, the edges already lifted off the floor.

The sand of Boy Scouts sure looked wet. I hope that you dried it before putting it in the base.
its not sealed or undercoated so that wont matter and it will take a centaury or more for the rust to get through that steel

YES
I dropped out of college too Will.
id buy a hammer head for decoration. Even if its mangled and not worth using as a tool, i think its cool
Its a small detail, however, I would have liked to see the 90s opened/spread to meet the H beam cleaner so the bondo wouldn’t have been necessary.
I put a grill cover on when not in use. Or something like that.
aww. I wanted one of those hammers, and got on a mailing list for one, but never saw a response that any were available.

Thanks for the warning but my brain is still mush after that
Aww man. I’d still pay for some of those hammer heads! Any chance they would go up in as-is condition or something?
What do you mean can't comprehend, it's just 13/16ths of a standard imperial bannana

Yes.
4:12 made a rookie mistake there will. Should have tacked it together first then gone back and done the heavy welds.
Could I buy a few of those old hammer heads?
Why were so many of those hammerheads left behind after Alex moved on? Were they quality fails or just unsold stock?
i thought you would pour the dry sand through a hole and a funnel in the top of the stand so it was easy to move
Triangles won't wobble... if they have 3 feet. A flat triangle on the ground doesn't have the same properties.
I would have used bondo...I would have melted lead onto it instead just like how the old school body repair/car builders do
so there is a saying: Bondo and Paint make me the Welder I aint. Well i couldnt do it better so it applies to me too.
What kind of Cigar Will? I gotta know….and can I buy a hammer head?
How much to buy one of those hammer heads? Seriously… I have always wanted one and my son and I would love to restore it and make a handle for it.
Anyone knows what the date 11-16-24 right in the end stands for?
I have questions about the hammers. Are those really all failures?
Failures, Rejects, Crap, Junk, Trash. Something like that, yes
A lot of em would have been wanted despite being classed as failures. They would have been perfectly fine as tool blanks, even just built up with weld and heat treated softer.
You probably should of sanded and degreased the surface before adding bondo so you dont have to worry about separating later.
the hammer heads though....
Thank you for overbuilding that vise...
