  • MrFlavorsmith walks you through in detail on how to control the temperature of your Weber Charcoal BBQ with a very simple modification to the bottom air vent that everyone needs to do. He then goes into detail and talks about his preferred way to get nice and low temperatures at the end using some aftermarket products that you can easily get.

    I just put bottom vent fully open no matter what/how I am cooking. I use only the top vent to dial in all temps. The lower vent flow will change as ash falls and covers the lower vent if it is partially closed off. That way you reduce the variability of having to adjust two different vents -- thus the flow of air is more easily controlled with just one variable (for me the top vent).

    I agree with what you are saying, but why not include the Tip Top Temp Attachable Grill Temperature Regulator TTT-01. Once adjusted, it can adjust to hold temp. When the coals start to run out, it will start to open up and you know you will need to add fuel if you need to keep it going. With the tip top, I don't need the snake of coals or make adjustments.

      Oh you can absolutely use one of those top vent regulators and I’m sure at some point I will make a video trying it out. I just wanted to show the way I control heat with the standard vents included. I’m sure I will at some point in the near future do a video using the Tip Top Regulator. I’m glad to see you like it… many have a hard time with it. Thanks for sharing! 😎🥩👍

      So happy you liked it! Here is the link for the wireless digital thermometer in the video, it works amazing! I can go inside on the other side of our two story house and get full reception… I even get it out in front of the house by the street, it’s done me great for many months now. The infrared Heat Gun I actually got at my favorite grilling gear store @Wildomar Ace Hardware…they have tons of great grilling stuff there!

    Blimey , by the time youve got the temps sorted, most of the coals would be spent😂 I can only get half decent lump 😢

    • @MrFlavorsmith
      @MrFlavorsmith  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s honestly not that bad, lump runs a little hotter for me and because of that I use it a lot for hot quick cooks like steaks, burgers, tritip and chicken. It has great flavor. I will also use it in combination with briquettes. I have not done so yet but I imagine it will be great for Pizza 🍕 cooks! Every type and brand of coal has its place. 😎🥩👍

      @johngirvan4437 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks , pretty novice at this grilling thingy. Do I put meat on straight away whilst dialling in temps or wait until desired temp. Great video 👍

    • @MrFlavorsmith
      @MrFlavorsmith  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@johngirvan4437 So honestly it really depends on what it is your cooking and if it's an item that needs Slow and Low cooking, like smoking meats or grilling steaks or chicken. For anything smoking....get your Temps Dialed in first. My most recent video I rushed my cook and Charred the Rotisserie Chicken on the outside but the meat was perfect. I threw the coals in and loaded the bird up and Opened my vents fully and walked away. I had never used that Brand of Coal for Rotisserie Chicken before and it ran a lot hotter then the brand I always use for Rotisserie. Lesson Learned, check your temps and I highly recommend using an Ambient Temp Probe as the ones on the Lid really don't help much as the temp gauge is normally over the heat source so that the vent is over your meats on an indirect cook. 😎🥩👍
