      It allows the seller to receive their funds via direct deposit faster if they’re not able to physically send it out yet. If you file a return for not as described, eBay will hold the “pending” funds for the seller that have already been deposited 😆

      this is one major problem ebay need s to fix i hate it when i buy an item from a seller and you check your purchase item from phone and pc its show your item has been shipped but if you click more details about the item status of the item it hasnt been shipped the seller just created a label for the item and usps or ups etc awaits for the item from the seller hasnt even drop off the item to the post office from the beginnings of getting back on ebay all those days i thought they shipped it smh ebay needs regulate just do something about that to the sellers so i wont have to get on the sellers A$S for lying to me about shipping and when they know they got caught lying they would apologise or just play dumb saying "idk what to tell you i shipped it out that day" or i drop it off at cloves/walmart they have a drop off box for usps etc .im serious especially when it comes to ppls money you cant play like that as a seller but it keeps happening shipping it out 3-6 days later wtf thats a problem

      @Kyle who said getting your card 2 days later? My problem was sellers not shipping the item out like they said they were supposed to a false advertisement if I paid for an item from a seller and it shows sellers ships item within 1-2 days I would definitely expect that not 3-5 days later just wait until the end of the week when the item was purchase on Monday especially when your dealing with someone's money and just because we don't have control of that problem doesn't mean it's okay for sellers to do that everytime unlike you I'm not going to accept and be treated that way im not going to be a sucker so idc if your ebays top seller or if your GEOFF from sports cards investors your going to get some gripe and be hold fully accountable that's reporting the problem to ebay and giving you first negative feedback and just to be 100% correct my time and energy effort of getting my point across has never been wasted when being used the lack of integrity that some sellers have on ebay is unbelievable especially when their running a buisness and dealing with someones money 💰 sooner or later things will change I hope that makes a whole lot of sense

      They don’t care about anyone. It’s all marketing. They’re doing this because it allows them to hold the seller’s funds for a few additional days. Think about how much interest they’re making by holding funds for 1000’s of transactions each day for an additional 3-5 days while they essentially do nothing.
      Why does eBay need to authenticate a PSA/BGS slabbed card? PSA/BGS have already inspected the card- there’s nothing for eBay to do at this point.

  • @vintagecollector5340

    This isn't fair to the sellers who have spent years building their business/reputation on eBay, because this undermines their hard work to be a trustworthy seller. This should be an option for the buyer, and not made mandatory for the benefit of eBay to grab even more fees than they're already charging. They don't care a thing about the hobby or it's fraudsters...they just simply found an opportunity to make more money.

    This program should be optional. The more cards are handled, the more likely they are to get damaged. As someone who has been selling on eBay (primarily sports cards and collectibles) for over 20 years, I can honestly say this is the first time I've been worried. What happens if the card gets damaged during the process? Who pays for it? Totally agree with the comments concerning non-payers. There are eBay members who have not paid for numerous auctions and are still members of the community. Not cool. All I can say is it's becoming more and more difficult to sell on eBay. Sellers make eBay money. Our feedback should be read and acted upon.

    Here’s the biggest issue I see. eBay is actually getting in the way of free trade. Here is a scenario I foresee happening often. I buy a card from eBay and eBay has it sent to csg and they decide it hasn’t been represented accurately. I got a great deal on the card and I would have been more than happy with my deal even if it was in less condition than the seller represented. eBay is taking away my ability to have that card even if I still wanted it. In my mind, this is a horrible precedent to set for a third party to get between a buyer and a seller and the third party be the one to decide if this is a good deal or a legitimate sale. If I buy something from a seller and the two of us agree at the end of the deal that we’re both happy, ebay(not any other entity) should not have any way to interfere in that process.

      @@shanewhitaker8768 No it wouldn’t work under all circumstances but the idea came from a video I seen where the guy didn’t get his card because it was authenticated as altered so they sent it back to the seller. He felt like he got a good deal and still wanted the card even if it was trimmed. I mentioned to his video the idea of a private listing with a handful of trash cards in a lot as a workaround since lots and binders of cards aren’t included. This idea would benefit the seller and buyer to avoid another authentication return and the buyer could do a BIN for the sell price. And if a seller doesn’t want to deal with this authentication process then that’s a way around it for anyone else as well.

    the problem with this program is a lack of proper communication; i just had a card that I tried to purchase rejected after a week of waiting, and all the authenticator said was "need to add more information to the card description". what does this mean? does it mean that the card in the photos is not the authentic card they received? because thats the only reason I would reject the sale, as a buyer I don't care what listing description precisely says, I only care that the card in the photos is the card that I am receiving, and that it's not a fake card (i.e. it passes the smell and feel test that I cannot personally perform with an online purchase). honestly its very poor and unclear communication from this authenticating company (CSG?). big waste of my time as a buyer and the feeling of uncertainty that they provide is very distracting. they should take PHOTOS during the "authentication" and send those photos to buyer and seller immediately upon review, regardless of outcome of the authentication. instead of a vague one-sentence statement that "more details need to be added to the listing description". what does that even mean? it feels like the legalese and technical details are taking precedence over practicality here, plus ZERO communication and ZERO clarity; do better CSG /rant

    This is to me a waste of time. I recently bought 2 high end cards. They both went through the process. The one card was already graded by PSA. When I took it out of the plastic sleeve everything was fine. When I put it back in the plastic, that annoying sticker got stuck on the front of the holder. It was sticky and impossible to get off. Luckily I knew how to take the sticky residue off of the holder. I was then thinking if it was just a regular raw card and it would of done that. My card would of been ruined and out lots of money. I hope this service goes away and we can get back to making our own decisions on card buying.

    Minute 25:00 mentions if they don't think a card is authentic, with the assumption of innocence.
    However I just had the issue where I have a card being sent to me (seller) because there presumably is a substance on the top corners. I have packaged this card extremely well, bubble envelope, bubble wrap, and TWO plastic protection sleeves, one hard and one soft. I took many photos of this card including close ups. Yet the authenticicator does not need to provide me any proof of what they call a substance on the card? Is it even on the card or is it on the plastic sleeves?
    Who knows until I get my card back, but currently I'm highly displeased and uncomfortable with the fact that someone may have touched my card that I sold outside of the protective sleeves and possibly damaged it.

  • @walterpetrik5668
    @walterpetrik5668 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The idea of additional protection is the good side of this - for seller and buyer! However, who in the world wants an additional set of hands dealing with their valuable card? In what way will the authenticator be held accountable for potential damage to the card caused by the authenticity guarantee process? How is the seller protected from a buyer who invents just this exact same scenario? How is the buyer protected if this really happens? Besides all that, an additional set of hands on any card can only add to the risk of diminishing the quality of the card, period. This opens an avalanche of liability issues which were not even touched in this interview above. But this will be very essential as the card arriving at the buyer could easily still look the same as portrayed in the pictures of the listing, however the invisible damage to the card which could be among other sources also originated in the authenticity guarantee process, will then come to the light of day at the grading company to which the buyer of that raw card will send it. Also, about all grading companies can't keep up at all with the volume of cards they get from mainly eBay customers and therefore they offer currently very extended handling times across the field. Under this aspect it appears to be very surprising (to say the least) that there would be all of a sudden a grading company being able to provide this authenticity guarantee service to all of those cards, which will include among others all cards being subsequently sent to PSA, SGC, BGS, HGA, GMA, etc.! Mmmmh? To evaluate the authenticity of a card and all corresponding features compared to the listing will mean that they practically have to do the exact same process like any grading company does when grading a card with the only exception that they will actually not provide a grade...!!! I would suggest to re-evaluate this program and I can say that I know ways to do this without any liability issues and without any loss of time, however I am not getting paid for this...!

    I don't understand how the 3 day return would still apply here. My understanding is that the 3 day was for "item not as described" yet we just had a third party authenticate that it was indeed as described. So what would be a valid reason for the buyer to return if you have a zero return policy and the item is as described? I see this as a positive. As a seller I like the idea of a third party involved to validate what I know to be true so I don't have to deal with any buyer shenanigans and same as a buyer. I was having a huge problem with people buying cards and then returning them once the market changed and wasn’t in their favor. It is amazing that eBay was letting people commit so much fraud, so I hope this is true that this is a final sale after the guarantee process

      Final sale is a new policy where sellers do not offer returns. • @moosiikards7150
    @moosiikards7150 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think some info wasn't clear and I hope I can clear it up for people who haven't used the service yet.
    1. Who Wanted this?
    eBay, Sellers & buyers who have been "scammed" by a listing of a raw card. Graded cards are not included in this if I'm not mistaken. Bait and switches happen all the time on selling platforms and its eBays responsibility to take every action necessary to protect even the dumbest of buyers. Or dumb people will be mad.
    2. I don't want additional people handling my card.
    These people are professionals. If you trust them enough to grade your card you can trust them to authenticate it for someone else. eBay hopefully took the necessary precautions to guarantee the middle man is diligent. Can we prove it? Idk is anyone one of these authenticators?
    3. What if eBay messes my card up?
    Take pics. Every step of the packing process should have pics. those pics should go into a file on your computer with the tracking number & order number of the ebay sale. you can use a google sheet that can hyperlink photos in the document. Easy to learn. If you want to sell on ebay you need to understand their policies and be able to protect yourself just like any other business would.
    4. How does this help me?
    well if you use eBays shipping labels its really an easy switch and it protects both parties from fraud. with additional confirmation of your card, the buyer cannot say you screwed him over. If you take pictures you should also be protected, but like i said.. bait and switches happen allll the time. Be safe out there on other platforms now that eBay is starting this. Fakes will move to those platforms, or choose to deal off ebay so they can find loopholes in the policy.
    this doesnt ADD on to your shipping. They are doing this to protect you as a buyer and a seller.
