    That intro with the low camera shots were awesome! Also, in every review and BRZ update, the acceleration face is the best part, never gets old :)

    There's a great aftermarket solution to the shifter as well as some bushings to help with the rear end wheel hop. Lower it and put in some sway bars and it's a blast to drive. Best bang for your buck out there, period.

    Great video. My friend has one of these with a borla exhaust. It also has 176,000 miles on it and it has held up great. I love how fast it accelerates and it is just a blast of fun

    Very much liked your cinematography for the intro and the music, Matt ! Big compliment ! Please keep doing them this way and make them even longer like a minute or so. As far as the Cadillac goes, I have absolutly no experience with any of their products, but a 400hp V8 with a stick looks like huge fun to me :) How about some crazy heel & toe, now ? :)

    12 grand for a used cts-v is perfect. I'm not afraid of high milage my 2000 Mazda 626 had 137,000 miles on it. Sadly it caught fire 6 weeks ago do to a lack of maintenance. but if you know how to keep up with maintenance with such high milage car it's going to last years to come. Amazing review Matt

    I have a 2005 (Stealth Gray), purchased in mid-2010, with about 3k left on the CPO warranty (had 97k on it). I was able to get a few things replaced at that time, including the nav system due to button peeling and some scratches on the screen, so mine is perfect.
    My 05 has about 115k now. See the sail panels in the back on this 04? They are not perfectly attached, which is a common problem. Mine are perfect. The previous owner installed that Magnaflow exhaust which sounds awesome. He also bought a set of the rare FG2 "Nurburgring" shocks which I think really make the car special, dynamically. It's firm but so planted. It was VERY capable when I attacked The Dragon and other western NC roads in 2011 (the set of Michelin PSS tires I bought also was beneficial). 1.26G on the G-meter, btw. This car weighs 3,850 lbs, which isn't too bad. They all come loaded which is handy when shopping for a used one.
    Let's see, I also installed a set of stainless braided brake hoses, which made the brakes feel amazing. I did new engine mounts (common issue, though mine weren't totally shot). I've had no problems with the rear end but I try to avoid hopping. The diff was replaced at some point in its life, though (but possibly due to whining not failure).
    I did replace the steering rack because I thought I could get rid of the on-center play.
    Nope. The new one has play, though feels better overall. I wouldn't have spent the time and money to change it if I knew it wouldn't get rid of the play, though...
    Overall, I like the car a lot. It sounds great, looks great, drives great. And it'll do 26mpg @ 70mph. On that Dragon trip (and subsequent driving before the next oil change) it consumed ZERO oil. I drove it hard enough to get 9mpg on one tank, so repeated trips to redline. The level didn't budge on the dipstick after 5,500 miles. And I saw oil temps of up to 283°F during my Dragon trip, too. I haven't driven the first gen 300C SRT-8 but I believe this is definitely the better handling car (also smaller and lighter), especially with the FG2 shocks.
    I think I could still get $15k for it (maybe a touch more) because it is immaculate, if I decided to summon the cash necessary to trade into a V2...

    Not a bad car at all, especially if you can get a row-your-own gearbox to go with it. I'd definitely take one, especially since they're going down a bit in price too. I'm a BMW driver, though I wouldn't mind a CTS-V if getting into an E39 M5 isn't possible at the moment.

    • @deniseaustinlover
      @deniseaustinlover 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      M5 is a really great car - both the 400hp V8 and 500hp V10 versions ran neck-and-neck with the CTS-V, which is also a really great car. Kudos for Caddy for keeping the manual transmission throughout the CTS-V's production. When BMW abandoned the manual tranny for their V10 M5 I was left thinking the company had lost its way. Thankfully, they came to their senses and re-offered a stick. For pure driving enjoyment AND involvement, nothing beats a manual transmission. Personally speaking, I like the CTS-V's boy-racer personality over the more reserved M5, especially if you throw some headers on it which makes for an unbelievable-sounding V8....as if the car jumped the wall and escaped from a track or something. American V8s thus equipped - and Ferrari flat-crank V8s right off the showroom floor - are some of the most musical engines around: they're pure sonic enjoyment. No radios needed...

    You do good reviews. Also you sound very sincere on them. something people don't review is reliability or talk about reliability of certain cars. You should maybe research forums and see what cars are giving problems. i.e. Wrx sti evo 135 335 etc. I would love to c someone actually talk about that and see people's comments. Id help hit me up about that.

    before I had a 2005 BMW 750Li that was the worst car I ever had it was on tow truck every month because of ZF faulty Transmission no good you can't go more then 50 miles the car was overheating transmission will go into limp mode very unreliable car the car can not make 300 kilometers without getting towed It had a lots of electronic modules that were not working what a Junk. From 2008 I buy only Cadillac cars the best machine ever made by GM.

    My father has a 2006 Cadillac SRX and I think that the interior is decent looking, but everything creaks and the paint is wearing off, just shows how cheap it is, and his car was almost $50k new, and it has 100k miles on it and it has lifter tick and needs front end work, and it's really not doing well, whereas our 2002 Lexus with 200k miles runs perfectly and the interior is holding up much better.

  • @_LEONKING_
    @_LEONKING_ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    they are like 5k to 7k in my area with that mileage, do you think it's an affordable (reliable) car? is that engine not like BMW that breaks all the the damn time?

    • @dakotalafrance3618
      @dakotalafrance3618 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carlx Hittman The 1st Gen cts-v is plagued with many issues; biggest one being the wheel-hop with the drive-train. All the issues in the 1st Gen were corrected with the 2nd gen. More power, better interior, and bulletproof reliability; the 2nd gen is worth saving up for, I can tell you that.

      Dakota LaFrance sorry for replying a month after you commented, but is the reliability really that much of a concern? I'm definitely looking to get a CTS-V sometime soon, but there is a pretty sizeable price gap. Obviously the gap is justified, but it's still there lol

    I grew up with Cadillacs I have always been a fan of Cadillacs loved them then and love them now I rented the first generation Cadillac cts even though it wasn't a v - series and hated the interior and didn't like the way it drove . I said to myself this is the car that replaced the Catera, it looks nicer than the Catera but drives worst, the first hour I got it I took it back and asked for another car. Then when Cadillac out with the 2nd generation CTS I rented that and will say I was pleased with it. I work in the medical field and the Doctor I work for has the 1st generation CTS and it looks so dated now plus he never clean it my impala looks a lot better then his car. But the new 2015 CTS is sharp!

      Under 5 0-60. I can get about 4.5 in mine, same kind of mods as one in vid, and mid 13s @ 107-109ish mph. They suck at the launch, but on highway, pull harder than you expect. They pull like high 12sec cars on a roll

      LS6 is from C5Z. LS7 is from C6Z. LS2 (comes in CTS-V from 06-07, and in C6 from 05 to 07 I believe, before its replaced with LS3 in C6.)

    This is really respectable attempt by Cadillac back in the day. But I'm sure I speak for most of us here when I say, that the 2nd gen CTS-V is miles ahead from this one. The gen ones just look too cheap. Too boxy. Too plastic. And doesn't really stand out from the normal CTS. That's probably why the 1st gen CTS-V never really caught anyone's eye. And it sure as hell didn't make German car buyers, trade in their M/// or AMG for one. But the 09-14s'? Those things FINALLY made the world take Cadillac seriously!
