    YESSS I just finished installing my starter and they only reason I could do it was because of your video to me your video was edited perfectly... if I took it to my mechanic he said 300. For labor only plus the cost of parts which was 130. Also towing which cost 150. So about 600. For everything now I did buy tools for this job and that costed about 200. But now I have great tools for other jobs that will come up. The flex head ratchet was key to getting the stubborn bolts in the back of the starter. The paper trick to keeping your bolts in the socket is game changer. I'm not even close to being a mechanic but if you have some basic skills this job is due able .....thx for your video totally stoked right now

    WOW, i used to be able to crawl under my dodge, ford, chevy and have the starter, which was usually mounted on the bell housing out in about 15 minutes and back in, in another 20 minutes. No removing 50 other obsiticles!! Rebuilt starters were about $35.00. Anchient history!!! Sad.

    Thanks for this. I tried this on a Qx56 several years ago for an intermittent issue and realize there are two different starters depending on the specific model. I had the wrong one after doing all the work and had to put the original back. About to do it again as it has worsened. Question. There is a lot of carbon build up in the intake ports... Is it worth it to try and clean or is that not a good use of time?

    I've searched extensively online for how to change this starter, not gonna lie, I've swapped tranny's, changed starters on normal easy to get to vehicles with no problem, but I've never pulled a manifold and have been intimidated due to my lack of knowledge. This video, seeing the process step by step had gotten rid of some of my trepidation. I'm assuming that's gotta be my next step, I've replaced the starter relay in my 2010 titan and checked to make sure power is going out of the relay to presumably the starter, yet I get nothing when trying to start. I can personally think of nothing else which could be the problem unless someone knows better?

Thank you for the Fel-Pro part number on the intake gaskets , also thanks for the order in the reinstall of the intake bolts. Most of all thanks for the torque specs on the bolts . Unlike the other peoples videos it's plain to see that you know what the Hell your doing . By any chance , do you know why on a 2008 Nissan Altima . I reset the oil life but after a couple of days it shows to change oil again . Any advise on why this keeps happening ? J

    The only reason I can think of placing it here is reducing one less step in assembling the vehicle in other vehicles starter has to be installed after the transmission but in this way they would just bolt the transmission to the engine.
    Also I just bought a 2010 Titan
    And I was wondering where it was.

    I love mechanic work but I’m so afraid fondo this one. Any more tips. How much you think someone would charge me to install one. I have the starter.

    So thank you for the DIY video. BUT the torque spec calls for 73in/lb which converts to about 6 ft/lb only a few hundredths over. I have now snapped 2 bolt heads when torquing the intake manifold bolts. I am going to upgrade hardware to grade 8 bolts and hand tighten until snug. Then follow with a 5 torque spec then a 6. Any advice on snapping these small intake mani bolts or has anyone experienced the same issue? My truck is a 2006 with 137K miles.

      Yep 6 x 12 is 72 so 6ft lbs is accurate since most wrenches can't get to one inch pound accuracy anyways. Good catch, I knew the math was off when he said that but figured doing 7 wouldn't hurt. Thanks for the warning

    How much would it be to do it yourself other than mechanic? I need mine replaced

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Deleon it would only cost you parts. Labor at a shop would be around 300$. There links in the description for the parts.

    I found your video looking for an intake manifold removal video because I too had a rodent living underneath the intake manifold. Judging by the smell I think it was "living" there

      If you use Irish Spring soap bars and cut them up in small pieces and place them in various places under the hood it will keep them out.

      @@HowtoAutomotive no sir I'm thinking about buying the 2005 or 2006 Nissan Titan and doing a lot of research on repair and everything else before I buy the vehicle. I own a 98 F150 and was thinking about getting a Nissan's I've seen some people say is good and some people say it's bad what are your thoughts?

    Great video, but a sin that changing a starter requires that much work. I would not buy a nisan because of this. Reminds me of changing spark plugs on a 2011 dodge journey!
