@@johnlabu1154 the animation itself is good but animation alone isnt what makes a scene, the direction, the angles, the storyboard, etc. is what elevates good animation and makes it look like godlike animation
Honestly it would be nice to have more videos that go indepth on not just the technical behind the pure animation but also in combination with the directing behind it, cause I'll still be wondering why some shots make something look better than another or clever use of making the animation look smooth but it's still in limited amount of frames. It's even harder to tell for Japanese animation considering directors and animators usually want to express their own, unique style.
Personally I don’t see the live action getting enough traction to cover over a thousand episodes/chapters worth of content. Unfortunately I doubt we’ll ever see 1015 in live action but I’d like to be proven wrong

I love that this scene is still so meaningful even to people who don't know the full context of all the callback shots and what's currently going on. Not only did they do a masterful job of bringing this scene to life through animation, Oda also did an amazing job showing the through line that the narrative has been following for the past 6~8 years. Truly an amazing payoff for investing your time into the story.

They were all scenes that we have seen already but animated from Luffy's perspective which (visually) we had no seen. You get to see Luffy's actual perspective of the events that have lead to this conflict and I think they did an amazing job of displaying that visually.

i love how they animated luffy hitting kaido with red roc. the way they animated the fire so it resembles the devil fruit of his brother ace, who had close ties to wano, and overall the fire having a lot of devil fruit patterns since this is the first time luffy uses this move in the entire series; I feel like it adds a lot of symbolic impact, even tho its such a missable detail if you dont go back and watch it lol. megumi ishitani's boarding + takashi kojima's animation for this sequence is A1. can't wait what megumi cooks if they let her direct another episode. its really inspiring as an animation student seeing their work and how absolutely gorgeous 2D animation can be.

the way we can have beautiful emotional episodes like 1015 and beautiful action episodes like 1062 in the same show is just incredible. both are MASTERPIECES of animation, but for different reasons. making scenery and making flashy attacks are VERY different styles, but the animators still manage to deliver peak on both ends

Yeah i think since a while one piece works with freelance animators from the westm we have a few people we know that work on one piece (not on this episode specifically but on other ones) and its really nice to see that toei is not gatekeeping working for onepiece :D
Great video! It's awesome seeing people enjoy One Piece! If there's one thing to add though, it's that most of the thicker lines aren't added by the animator in the Wano arc, but also in the compositing step, although there's animators that do sketchy art, like Bahi JD's scene at the end of the ep

this is nothing. Episode 1062 is easiest the greatest animated episode of the entire series. Def recommend you guys to check it out. Def up there for best animated episode in the last 10 years.
9:39 Luffy is intentionally written that way and Oda has stated that even he himself doesn't know how Luffy will respond to things. If I understand him correctly he doesn't have a fully written concept for Luffy's morals. Intentionally keeping the character vague helps keep him more interesting and unpredictable while giving Oda freedom to experiment regarding how to get from point A to point B in the story without worrying about writing something that doesn't "feel" like Luffy. He has a few concrete traits like his kindness but ultimately his morals aren't super well defined beyond those few concrete traits and I love that Oda wrote him that way. It's the perfect way to write the MC of this goofy pirate story imo.
