  • Complete restoration and modification of an original pair of Allen Edmonds McAllisters. I turned them into a pair of Broadstreets.
    This can be done using Angelus Leather paints, a brush, and LOTS of patience!
    Angelus Flat White Paint: amzn.to/3nD8cGE
    Angelus Cream Paint: amzn.to/2GPw4FY
    Artist's Brushes: amzn.to/36Zq4VY
    Fiebing's Show Brown Dye: amzn.to/2GYRWP2
    Fiebing's Saddle Tan Dye: amzn.to/2GBn4Vl
    Fiebing's Resoline: amzn.to/34QpNlU
    If you want to bump your shoe projects to the next level, try airbrushing your dyes for that perfect patina look!
    Complete Air Brush Kit (including compressor): amzn.to/3nEgw8L
    I exclusively use Saphir polishes and waxes on all of my shoes! Below are the Saphir products I used for this project:
    Saphir Mirror Gloss: amzn.to/36VkOCS
    Medium Brown Saphir Medaille d'Or Oiled Leather Cream: amzn.to/3nzNJlP
    Saphir Natural Horsehair Shoe Brush: amzn.to/34Ju62b
    As always...

    How have these held up? I tried to do something similar, but the paint always ended up cracking and eventually peeling.
    I ended up buying a pair of ivory wingtips and dyeing the brown parts instead, which worked fine.
    I hope yours worked out better than my attempt, because you did a really magnificent job.

    Ditto, Steve. Shoes turned out pretty spiffy. Your channel teams well with Bedo’s. Thanks for making the video.

    I came over to your channel after watching Steve at Bedo's work on the other set of shoes you did. Nice work. Good luck with the channel.

    There is something so satisfying and addicting about rescuing and restoring shoes especially if their origins are of high quality.
    Is there an Al-Anon for this kind of addiction?

    Really great work! I've recently gotten into dyeing dress shoes, your video has given me some techniques to chew on.

    I have a pair of spectator shoes white and blue but I want to dye them black the entire shoes.. can the black dye cover the white acrylic paint? Or how I can remove the white paint?

    • @CreativeRestorations
      @CreativeRestorations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a question better posed to Steve with Bedo's Leather.

    Hi, I was curious to know if the acrylic paint after wearing these shoes for a while comes off? Great video! Barbara from Italy

    @creativerestorations why sand them? can you not just dye over top of the old finish?
    I got a pair of very nice lobb spectators (calf & suede) off ebay that were involved in a flood. Bought the supplies to try to re-dye, but holding off because I'm worried about the little spots showing through (dont want to go dark just to hide).

    Fantastic work - I’ve dyed a pair of shoes and didn’t thin the dye enough. Thin coats are super important.
    Also: the McAllister is on the 5 last while the Broadstreet is on the 3 last.

    Interesting shoes, not popular here in Oz I wouldn’t think (don’t think I have ever seen them here) but good to watch nonetheless.! I think. You can be very proud of your efforts.

    Have I missed something? Why all the detail with the masking tape protection if Steve is going to replace the soles and heels?anyway?

    • @CreativeRestorations
      @CreativeRestorations  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't protecting the soles and heels as much as I was protecting the welt.

    How have these shoes worn? The white paint has longevity?

    • @CreativeRestorations
      @CreativeRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a single issue with them. The paint is specially designed to work with leather. So, all is good!

    Doug, what brand and color white did you use? Also, any recommendation for a brush?

      Looks like Angelus paint, it's a popular brand among sneaker enthusiasts. I've used their dyes before but never their paint, though it's well regarded.

    • @NG-cf7zh
      @NG-cf7zh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually at @27:00 he starts talking about the paints and shows them. Angelus flat white as a primer and then cream on top of the white.

    What's creepier? Him "getting off" on "fondling his shoes", watching for an hour, or the sense of satisfaction one gets from the finished project⁉️
    (asking for a friend) 😉🤪
