Spectators are my number 1 favorite dress shoes! I bought my first pair last year, a vintage 1940s spectators by Florsheim except mine is made from a nylon mesh in the place of the cream leather.
I have three pairs of spectators my first pair I bought when I was 17 years old from churches of England. I still have those shoes and still wear them!
Spectators are one of my favourite shoes. I am singing in a rather casual jazzband and spectators are part of our outfit (we usually play in young and casual settings). I also wear them in everyday life but only during the warm months because they work so well with my cream and White clothing ideas for these months
Enter the competition....if your videos are anything to go by then you're a sure thing brother, besides I've watched TH-cam for a long time and with what you do there s no one that can compete. You're a winner Preston, you just gotta enter to get the title. Best wishes brother
Great video. I love Spectators. I have white with brown and black leather, as well as brown and blue suede. Polishing is a challenge for me with these shoes. I use Safire products but the idea of masking to tape off the white is genius. Gentlemen, these cannot be worn all year. Born from watching English cricket matches during the summer months they also became very popular by the Jazz crowd at a certain time. They are not outdated! Takes a little gusto to wear them out but what compliments! Gray or blue flannel dress pants with blazer or summer light jacket. You will look like a million dollars.
I got a kick on how you handle the dropping of bottle. "Oops, hur hur, drop a little bit." You have a very admirable expression for accident. Calm and chill.
You are by far my favorite shoe personality. Of all the "shoe guys" out there you are a step above. From commentary to performance you are killing it!!
Great pair with an excellent shine. Bought a pair last summer from Allen Edmonds along with a pair of brown ones the Cobbler Union. Wish I lived close to you so you can help me shine them, brother.
I love my spectator pair of shoes. Mine are a light oak with a cotton or linen cross hatch stitched cloth. It's very simple, but the detailing of the cross hatch makes it a very elegant summer shoe.
Awesome! I could see myself wearing these, but not with a suit; maybe with white cream slacks, a nice dress shirt, and a matching long-sleeved button-downed sweater and a bow tie.
Having seen a bunch of different spectators, I found the idea very cool, but the way they make them they just end up looking like some gangster's shoes. These, however, look perfect.
When I was younger, I didn't have the confidence to wear Spectator shoes. Now that I'm retired, I've realized that most people really don't care what type of shoes I wear. I have six different pairs of Spectators and get occasional compliments compliments but never have had anyone criticize me. Shame that it took me so long to realize that I could carry them off.
Im almost positive you'll win that shoe shine competition. I genuinely havent sheen shoe shines as good as yours. Ive seen a few videos about japanese shoe shiners, but they look medicore compared to you imo
Hello Preston, great Videos. I got some shoes from Velasca, I really love the built finish, I hope one day you make a review video of them to see if there are as great as i think.
Hi, love your videos. May I sent a pair of my shoes to you. I like your Elegant Oxfords toe plates, would you install them also heel pads. Also your wonderful mirror shine. So how much will all these cost? Thank you!
The colors you used almost give the shoe a glow. They are fabulous! Does this company do lady's shoes? I am a girly-girl but I adore oxfords. I remember seeing my Great Aunt wearing saddle oxfords in the 1950s (?). What colors did you use on these shoes? They are just beautiful!
Hey Meli. If you’re interested in ladies dress shoes, Allen Edmonds are a good option if you can wear a size 9 in women’s so you can fit in a 7 mens. Carmina and The Office of Angela Scott make dedicated women’s dress shoes that are among the best in the world. They are a but pricey but absolutely worth the investment.
I can't wait to see these! Can you tell me where to find shoe trees for a lady's size 7.5? Also I need a shoe brush. In one place a horse hair is recommended & in another pig's hair is. Which do I need? I'm no pro.
Just curious…do you have any trouble with putting the painters tape on the leather? When I taped up my red wings, pulling the tape off pulled out/off the oils out of the leather. It made it look really bad. I fixed it but it keeps happening.
Hello, I'm new to your channel and I notice you mentioned that you are in the San Diego area. Do you have any cobblers that you can recommend in the area? I recently moved from the East Coast and it has been difficult finding a reputable cobbler.
Taping 1 shoe takes 2 hrs so both 4 hrs and that is the beginning of the pain. Some cobblers offer a professional service for spectators. I would definitely go for it no matter the price if I owned a pair. BTW for me personally the mirror shine doesn't fit spectator shoes. Makes one look like trying hard to make casual shoes become formal and didn't work out. I would stick with simple polish. Imo. As always you are on top as shoe polish Master.
Great video. However I was a bit shocked to see you want to transform them with dye as opposed to 'flavor' them with some slightly darker Saphir creams? safer and less troublesome by far I think? They were stunning to begin with and one of my favorites to restore along with AE's Ridgefields and Strawfut which I have found and restored at bargain prices on eBay. Nonetheless great work as usual.
Preston, You could 100% pull those off in a white linin double breasted suit and a pastel shirt. Just don't walk around Miami carrying a metal briefcase and a cigar.
You’d need to go seriously overboard for anything to happen to you. Wear gloves but make sure they aren’t latex. Acetone will eat through pretty much anything that’s latex.
Spectators are my number 1 favorite dress shoes! I bought my first pair last year, a vintage 1940s spectators by Florsheim except mine is made from a nylon mesh in the place of the cream leather.
Very cool Daniel! Cloth or mesh was another popular style!

That’s awesome Peter. I need to have the courage to wear them!
I've been putting masking tape on shoes with contrast welt stitching for a while now, works a treat
I would think these shoes would go well with a cotton/linen suit of creme, yellow, blue or brown.
Beautiful Shoe! I could see Joe DiMaggio wearing them back in the day.....Timeless Class!
Thanks!
I love Black and White Spectators! A claccick with Tango dancers.
Another very popular combo! Thanks for sharing!
I got a kick on how you handle the dropping of bottle. "Oops, hur hur, drop a little bit." You have a very admirable expression for accident. Calm and chill.
Hi Mr. Soto greetings from New York City. Excellent work. Another piece of art. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching! I want to visit NY one day
A true spectator fan here, Great job and thank you for posting.
Glad you like them Frank, thanks for watching the video.
2 hours taping before you even start the job. You have way more patience than me man. Love the Spectators.
It was a doozy for sure. The worst part was getting the pinking in order
Pero que paciencia muestras y gracias por compartir Saludos nuevamente desde Altamira México 🇲🇽👍
Love the spectator style of shoes. What a great job you did Preston. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thanks for watching Joaquin
You are by far my favorite shoe personality. Of all the "shoe guys" out there you are a step above. From commentary to performance you are killing it!!
These are my favorite shoe ever ! Have always wanted a pair. Thank you
I reckon they are great . The trick is to understate them with quality elegant clothing.
I am now 69 years old and had a pair when I was about 19 .
Great pair with an excellent shine. Bought a pair last summer from Allen Edmonds along with a pair of brown ones the Cobbler Union. Wish I lived close to you so you can help me shine them, brother.
Great choices! If you’re ever in San Diego let me know!
Yes, they look amazing... On some people with the right character and build
One of my favorite pairs you’ve done thus far! Excellent work as always! 👏🏻😉🤩😘
I love your work. Greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱!
Thanks Samuel. I appreciate the support

My grandfather wore a pair of two tone Oxford shoes back in the early 1950s.
Way to make my day, Preston.
Thank you!
Awesome! I could see myself wearing these, but not with a suit; maybe with white cream slacks, a nice dress shirt, and a matching long-sleeved button-downed sweater and a bow tie.
I have a tan herringbone Gieve & Hawkes suit with a cream stripe pinpoint oxford shirt that would go well with these spectators!
Love Spectators, I own 3 pairs 2 from Allen Edmonds and 1 from Alden.
Gorgeous! The toe plates with your logo are killer!!
I just adore them.
The EO toes are perfect
Mr. Soto, you are a master artisan ...
Those shoes are sooooo beautiful!
I have those shoes the spectators in that same color same year . Classy shoes man! 👍👍
Having seen a bunch of different spectators, I found the idea very cool, but the way they make them they just end up looking like some gangster's shoes. These, however, look perfect.
Preston, glad to be here.
Thanks Felix
Beautiful shoes and you did an outstanding job, Preston!
Thanks Vicente
@@TheElegantOxford I tried to contact Ivan for info onthe toe plates but I get a bounce on the address indicating the domain does not exists???
I love wingtips. I have a pair of those Broadways in burgundy.
Awesome!
Absolutely amazing episode. I love spectators.
Indeed, I'm not much fun.
So I'm not a fan of spectators.
But that looks great young man. Good job.
Amazing Job Preston!
The brown is cool
Those would make an awesome pair of golf shoes, put some old school spike type cleats on the soles and be stylin’ on the links.
Beautiful corespondents
That looks really awesome! Great work!
Thanks Ben!
I'd like to see a Spectator Weave offered up by AE. Those turned out very nice Preston.
That would be very cool!
Superlative work!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure
You just helped me know what those awesome shoes are called! Thanks for your fantastic content 👏
Love it 🤩🤩🤩🤩 all the best from Italy 🇮🇹
Beautiful!

Happy New Year to you and your family, Preston! And… I started rocking my new Cigar Strands with Triumph toe plates this season ;)
That’s great Scotty! Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for your vote of confidence
Great job as always.
They are beautiful 👍
Thanks!
You are an Amazing artist!!! What air brush are you using? I bet you could do it with Q tips!!!
What do you do for ongoing cleaning/maintenance of the white areas?
Allen Edmonds has discontinued the production of Broadstreet a few years ago. Have they brought it back?
They brought them back for a limited run a few months ago but right now, they are discontinued
Hello Preston, great Videos. I got some shoes from Velasca, I really love the built finish, I hope one day you make a review video of them to see if there are as great as i think.
Stavo pensando di prenderle, c'è un modello che mi puoi consigliare?
Yes, yes, a spectators and wing tip is a shoe that I am drawn too often for me
Hi, love your videos. May I sent a pair of my shoes to you. I like your Elegant Oxfords toe plates, would you install them also heel pads. Also your wonderful mirror shine. So how much will all these cost? Thank you!
I was wondering can you get a mirror finish with normal shoe polish
I absolutely love the AE Spectator Shoe. I missed the offer in 2021, but are they still available?
You’ve probably answered this another video, but what kind of air brush is that? Shoes look phenomenal BTW.
Hey Jeremy. It’s a battery powered cheapy from Amazon. I don’t know if they sell it anymore but I need to invest in one with an air pump.

Horse hair every time. Pig bristles are stiffer and are good for cleaning mud off your shoes.
Albert is right. Horse hair is soft while pig bristle is stiff.
I sell them at TheElegantOxford.com
JANFRIENDS21 will get you 5% off your order
I'd like to buy Saphir products but unfortunately they're not available in Egypt. What would you recommend 🤔
Great video
Hola Oxford saludos desde Bogotá bendiciones

please can you put the shop on ebay where you get your second hand alan edmonds plz

nice co-respondent shoe
Tremendous job as usual!
How do you tell when a shoe is made? Is there Serial number or date stamp on the shoe?
AE has runs of certain styles in certain years.
Like them as golf shoes
Yeah they do look like golf shoes huh?
I love those toe plates. He really ought to use slotted head screws rather than Philips head though.
That would hurt me to wear those.. #Beautiful
Like Facebook, drop the ‘The’ 😀 love your videos.
Nice! Job
Where can you buy shoe trees like that or custom toe plates? Fantastic
Hey John, Ivan’s info for the plates is in the description of the video
@@TheElegantOxford thanks I missed that one. Any tips for top end shoe trees?
Keep up the good work, great channel.
For top end shoe trees, www.skoaktiebolaget.com makes the best ones but are pricey
Looking ready to take control of the Atlantic City boardwalk
☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
Can you use a Dremel to get the mirror shine?
Great question! I’m actually filming that very video to answer that question.
Taping 1 shoe takes 2 hrs so both 4 hrs and that is the beginning of the pain. Some cobblers offer a professional service for spectators. I would definitely go for it no matter the price if I owned a pair.

I unfortunately never use creams to add patinas because it isn’t permanent but that’s just how I do it for my clients.
COOL 100%
What is this for Airbrush
Wow 🤩👌🏼
I wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of those.
How do we clean the canvas ?
A damp towel or Saphir gentle cleanser. Nothing more needed.
How much would you charge to make mine look the same?
I love them. But finding them is becoming more difficult. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Did your mic shut off around the 3:30 mark? All of a sudden your voice got super quiet and I had to replay it to hear
Oh I was just physically away from the mic. Sometimes it doesn’t pick up my voice when I move my face away from it
Mr MA Jinnah used to wear shoes like this.
Trying to contact Ivan Ramos, but he's not replying to my messages. 😞
where do you get your flat laces from?
I bought them from Kirby Allison! He makes the best ones imho
Espectáculo
Nice!
Have you ever noticed toe plates making it harder to walk (slip more often) in any situations?
I haven’t but as long as you don’t tippy toe, you won’t notice them
I don't think I have seen Doug's channel. . .what is it
It’s called Creative Restorations!
Preston, You could 100% pull those off in a white linin double breasted suit and a pastel shirt. Just don't walk around Miami carrying a metal briefcase and a cigar.
Haha that would be a killer combo. I need to buy myself some spectators. I’m so jealous of my client
Pretty sure spectators were created for Wimbledon spectators.
I was told that Acetone has the ability to go straight through your skin, into the blood, and then to your liver☹️☹️ so gloves may be a plan✅
You’d need to go seriously overboard for anything to happen to you. Wear gloves but make sure they aren’t latex. Acetone will eat through pretty much anything that’s latex.
