    I picked up that terrible habit of hinging my wrists right off the bat about a month ago, thinking it looked cool. Boy did it ruin my irons. Thank you for restting me and getting me back to my game!

    Really like the tee in the glove. It has been a struggle with the orientation of the lead wrist during backswing.

    Great video as usual! I'd like to request more angles when doing the drills. Is it possible to split screen and see face on as well as dtl at the same positions of the takeaway and back swing. Please and thank you!

      Sorry we didn't show the down the line view---had some issues with the camera and lost the footage from that angle. Thats my fault I should have checked that while we were going!
      Details for training station:
      1. Poles are driver length apart
      2. Top of poles are hip height
      3. Poles are set straight up
      4. Poles are set down the toe line
      Hopefully that helps gives you what you need to re create---let us know if you have any questions!

    Eric, sometimes I think you're the guy inside my smartphone...listening to everything I say and watching everything I do. I've been obsessively working on initial takeaway and hinging these last few days and voila, this video pops up. Awesome stuff, and it validates the things I've been working on. For years I thought I had good turn in my takeaway, but using a Live View camera recently I discovered my arms (especially right arm) bending early in the takeaway. Why? Poor chest and body rotation away from the ball, which you guys specifically mention in this video. Also, I get very laid off at the top of my backswing, so the tip of having the butt end of the club pointing at the ball or inside the target line is invaluable. Great video!

    Been working on handle in club head out hinge up. When I Focus on this the hinge up feels mechanical and not repeatable if I think about folding elbow instead of hinge it feels much more fluid does that make sense is there any issue with just letting the elbow fold it seems like the wrist hing as the elbow folds Sorry for odd questions. Thx

      If these FEELS are producing the correct body motions when you check on video, that's the most important thing! No right or wrong feels IF they produce what you're looking for and you're hitting your checkpoints :)

    Are you hinging by flexing the wrist, or by pushing on the bottom of the handle with your lead side hand? I've seen a couple videos lately that say the hinge happens automatically when you push the end of the grip away from you with your lead hand. I've been working on keeping a flat wrist, and it's helped a ton. I have experimented with allowing the hinge to happen by momentum at the top of the swing, and/or by pushing the grip away with my lead hand while having my trail wrist back. I'm afraid that I'll introduce tension by trying force the hinge.

      @@CogornoGolf What feel are you going for? I'd like to find a feel where I hinge properly without forcing it and causing tension or getting too "wristy". I'm kind of lost in the sauce right now trying to find a technique that just happens naturally.

      @@chrisj8693 No. Not for me. I like to hinge early. I start to hinge when my hands is parallel with my trail leg. Before I started to hinge very late and got trouble with control. Now I can hold the angles much longer and release the club later. Had an AoA near zero, now I have between -4.5-6 deg down.

      Thats ALL good...some great players do! Different ways to get the job done.
      Trevor and I just seeing a lot of people trying to force the hinge so much so soon causing issues later on so wanted to give a more neutral option

      @@CogornoGolf thanks! i personally struggle with closed/in to out (8 degrees+ sometimes) swing path after battling that horrific slice my first 2 or so years golfing, so seeing that club face so closed at the top scared me lol

    The “ah ha” moment for me was to feel the right wrist cock BACK, not UP. Most people don’t feel that. Right wrist BACK automatically flattens, or slightly bows the left wrist for you. It also sets the club nicely, and keeps you on plane(holding a tray, butt of the grip pointing at the ball/target line). However, cocking the wrists UP gives you a very cupped left wrist, open club face, and puts you very across the line at the top(not good).

      That's been helping me keep my lead wrist flat. I"m getting good ball flight, but I'm afraid I'm losing distance by consciously cocking my wrist back and introducing tension instead of having relaxed and loose wrists. How do you go about triggering the trail wrist flex?

      @@honkerh8r564 I personally practice right hand only swings. It automatically throws the right forearm back, and cocks the right wrist back(sets the club properly). Just hit some balls, and you’ll notice that there’s zero tension. Because you can’t “control” the club with just one hand, you’ll find that your body will turn properly, and you’ll naturally release the club through impact. You will produce more effortless speed than you’ve ever felt before. It’s a great feel drill. Also do some left hand only swings. Let the left forearm naturally roll, and get the butt of the club pointed at the ball/target line near the top. Left knuckles should feel “down” through impact. You’ll feel how the left forearm will naturally roll to your finish. Combine those two “feels” with both hands on the club. I think you’ll get amazing results.
