I recently purchased a new 2024 Suzuki Swift in Italy and have already driven a few hundred kilometers in Milan. However, compared to other cars I own (such as the Toyota Yaris Cross), the system seems less responsive. When there are pedestrians in front of the car, the alert buzzer does not sound. This report is indicative as to why EuroNcap(and all the agencies that follow their testing regime)cannot be trusted to deliver serious useful feedback about the safety potential of any vehicle. All the extra equipment that would need to be fitted to this car to get that five star rating would push it to be heavier, less fuel efficient ,cost way more and the end goal of all this, less enjoyable to drive. It is no wonder that EuroNcap easily recommends cars which are either not in the same class as this or something that costs three or five times more.Anyone who was seriously looking at this car wouldnt be looking at a Kodiaq or an E Class much less an X2.The utter elitist contempt in the statement from the secretary General of EuroNcap in thier latest press release is the neon sign showing where the organization is now and who they really represent. This organization has become less in tuned with what consumers actually want in a car and instead have gleefully hitched their ideology to that of safety obsessed automatons unconcerned with actual human objective reality.
