Strength, clarity, critical thinking, energy and calm astonish me. I had to comment as soon as I saw the title of video . Im sorry guys , you can bring up as many studies as you want but real life from myself and everyone I know disproves it .
I did keto for months and yes , lost weight (water and some fat ) . No doubt its a great way to reduce body fat because you are not as hungry and therefore eat less along with no collection of water from the ingestion of carbs BUT :
    1) strength plummets without carbs . In the gym and at work (owner of reliant carpentry in construction ) . I couldn’t even lift a 2x12x20 ft board after 8 weeks of keto . I thought I was just hitting the great wall in my old age (50 now) .
The numbers went down in the gym to almost half when implementing low / no carb . Muscles became small / lifeless , devoid of water which helps with power . That is the point of taking creatine and the science that proves the increase of strength when it’s used . Carbs naturally do the same which is why bodybuilders (whose job is to gain muscle and strength) eat several hundred grams a day to accomplish the task of growing muscle .
I felt exhausted throughout the whole day on a higher protein and fat diet with low carbs . With carbs , my energy reserve is limitless and available when I call upon it .
It did stabilize my appetite / cravings which supports the positive parts of lower or no carb but for athletes , im sorry , performance absolutely goes in the tank . Maybe you may have some outliers but for the majority of people , you can’t convince them they will perform better . Not going to happen .

WHat about the ATP path way for energy? No mention of it.
All these tests are done on small skinny weak marathon runners, not power athletes.
Most sportsmen are interested in power and speed - not boring mind numbing endurance.
Basketball players, Football players, Sprinters, jumpers, throwers, leapers, weight lifters, all of it. What about power? The glycolytic system is of secondary importance.
Every football team and rugby team know who their fastest sprinter is. They don't know what player on their team has the most endurance.
Every basketball team know who their best vertical leaper is, not which member of the team has the most endurance.
Sick of them calling 800 meters and "1 mile" "power tests".
Untill somebody shows that ATP production and anearobic power output is performed better on very low carb diets - none of it means anything.

Heavy animal fat ratio dieter here. The carnivore cultists have lost their mind. They don't understand proper insulin function, or how it relates to protein metabolism. Amongst all the factors involved in Western 1st World populations' cancer epidemic, it is insane to believe moderate fermented carb consumption, let alone organic produce is leading to its death toll and disease. The heavy work active/athletic human's ATP benefits from a strongly slanted animal fat diet, strategically supplemented with carbs, plants, AND YES, even some sugar.

I just realised yesterday that pain is not there anymore. Yesterday noon I took 2 spoonfuls of carbs (couscous grains), and today I sinned again with a few spoonfuls of couscous and one teaspoon of brown sugar in my coffee. I slept a bit because when I eat fatty lamb it makes me sleep. I stood up after my nap and felt the pain in my heels. I can't believe it. I think I need to go back on lots of fatty meat, butter, eggs and water, and after a week or 10 days, try some carbs again 6sre if that pain in my heels comes back. If Kero is the answe why does inigo san Milan, coach of Tour de France winner, say that no cyclist can or does compete on a keto diet?

Good question , I hear those that do ultra marathons often do it in ketosis. Perhaps it depends on the out put / length of exercise.

Thank you Dr Chaffee for introducing us to this remarkable Professor Tim Noakes a man of the highest integrity, he joins the rank of other great men and women in the Medical Industry. I had one of the greats as my Doctor unfortunately he transitioned in his 90’s. Oncologist were complaining that cancer was disappearing in their patients, he was threatened even shot at leaving his office one evening, I will always miss him.

“Nazi Science” was a term the FA Hayek used in his book Road to Serfdom to describe how “science” served the Nazi agenda as opposed to being a pure search for truth.

I've only been doing keto for a week, and already have tons of energy. I rode my bike for about 10 miles the other day and didn't even feel out of breath. I eat meat, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. Fruit has carbs, but it's not the same thing as bread, pizza, pasta, cereal, rice, potatoes.

Great interview 😁 Inigo San Millan uses low carb aswell to treath cancer and train top athletes in cycling as Pogacar in tour the France, they use carbs at high intensity parts of the race tho. He knows alot but doesn't realise its about mental health en more aswell. Would be such a great talk aswell 😁

Thank you Prof Noakes. I completed 5 marathons in 5 days completely fasted after being a student of yours for years. I did this to demonstrate how much energy we ALL have when we are fat adapted. All I did was put your work into practice. Oh - and I’d never done a marathon before doing this. 🥩💪🏆🙏
