      Prof. Noakes had coined the term 'Anticipatory Thermogenesis'... Maybe something for you to look into: Would this be the reason why cold showers soon do not feel as cold anymore?
      Had learned about Cold Shower Therapy - in combination with Wim Hof breathing - from young engineer Tony Grandov, in 'Three Powerful Natural Ways to Improve Digestion by Vagus Nerve Stimulation'... Tony's research about digestive issues related in 'How I Reversed Chronic Constipation Using Coffee Enemas,' is also most compelling.

      Yes, this is also what I value most about Prof. Noakes, and other MD's; who had been humble enough to seriously question themselves about whether what they were doing, had been correct. That is the first step. Then to be willing to openly admit, after realising that they were wrong all/most/some of the time; this amidst being demonised, belittled, and bequacked: This takes courage, and to continue to stick to one's convictions, additionally demands perseverance.

      My view is that the reason we need vegetables and nonsweet fruit is because just meat is boring. No real need, just that they're nontoxic for most people & they add flavour.

      @@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 If you're a keto or carnivore dieter fruits are boring because we don't crave sugar anymore :) Plants are more toxic. They have way more built in poisons to protect themselves from being eaten then animal products.

      To prevent boredom, do a therapeutic fast. Fasting, for enough time, causes our bodies to use autophagy to recycle molecules. We need to find something other than eating to be our entertainment and reason for living.

    65 year old female. I've been vego most of my adult life. Today I bought 3 little steaks and beef mince. I have 2 1/2 doz. eggs in the fridge. Im looking foward to the rest of my life.

      Noor... I am 70 and think being canivor Is the correct diet for humans... I distinctly remember being taught in highschool that we are vegetarian due to longer length of intestines and shape of teeth.... Indoctrination at it's best, we are finding.... How are you doing now with your steaks❓🕊️

      @@tootienottoofruitie1726 They conveniently forgot about the high acid content in our stomachs (especially much needed for breaking down meat), and that we had a gallbladder to spurt out bile in order to help dissolving fat, so that we don't develop Vit ADEK nutrient deficiencies!

    Dear Prof Noakes,
    We speak from experience as diabetics. In 4 months I reversed my diabetes but I keep tight control no sugar no cards as high a fat diet as i can eat. My blood sugar level this morning was 5.3 and BP 119/78 heart rate 54 thanks to your research and keto diet. 1 am 68 and had heart bypass for 3 blocked arteries. 1 walk 3 miles up down rather steep gradient practically everyday. Dear Prof. my point is that you are right hang on to your convictions and hang those naysayers who are bent on creating misery and murder. Your are great man love people like you.

      Yes! Few are aware that bison were also east of the Mississippi River. Buffalo, NY was not named that because someone thought it sounded cute. Much of the land all the way to the Atlantic Ocean was savanna, you know, like the name of another town, Savannah, Georgia. Savanna is grassland dotted with trees. Savannas support a higher density of mammals than any other type of ecosystem.
      Other town names, like Elkton, Md. remind us that large herds of these herbivores once roamed all the way to the Chesapeake Bay. Different species of deer, plus pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, mountain goats... these were abundant when Europeans arrived on the continent. Caribou, the eastern woodland variety, roamed in large herds in what is now eastern Canada and into the northeast of the USA. Moose are another huge native herbivore that is teetering on the brink of extinction.
      The populations of other types of animals have crashed, too - or they have disappeared altogether. The Carolina parakeet was hunted for it's feathers, but it was also killed for the damage they did to crops and gardens, and has long been extinct. If only people realized that eating the birds was more nutritious than what they could grow.
      Flocks of passenger pigeons were recorded as being so large that they took hours to fly over Pigeons are nutritious and delicious! But people seemed to value food they had to 'earn by the sweat of their browse' more. Or they were addicted to grains. And maybe things made from grain, like alcohol.
      Bird populations in the U.S.A. have dropped at a frightening rate, for those who are paying attention. Except for those animals that have taken advantage of urban and suburban sprawl - like raccoons, coyotes, and rats - what visitors to State and national parks and forests see as 'pristine' are badly damaged environments.
      Properly managed, livestock can help fill the ecological niches left empty by the missing wildlfie. The cool thing is that ecologically/regeneratively managed farms see astonishing increases in biodiversity - in plants, soil life, and wildlife. Gabe Brown, North Dakota farmer, Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm in Vs and Greg Judy all talk about this in videos here on TH-cam.

      @@TB1M1 Nutritionist Nathan Pritikin RIP, might have died with a healthy heart and clean arteries, yet he had developed two kinds of leukemia; this before committing suicide in the midst of receiving chemotherapy treatment. Wonder how high his Vit D level was at the time he developed leukemia, and before he took his own life, and what was the condition of his brain and nerves?
      Are you aware of the many recent studies confirming that saturated fat intake and high cholesterol levels are not to be blamed for developing heart disease and artherosclerosis?

      @@jessicabroyles7334 Fiber is not essential in any way in the human diet. That myth has been one that still persists for a myriad of reasons. It does have some medicinal effects for those that need specific treatment (primarily insoluble fiber propelling fecal matter and limited insulin effects) but there's no real nutritional contribution from fiber to speak of.
      And how exactly would saturated animal fat and cholesterol clog my arteries, exactly? I'm afraid you misunderstand the role of either of these essential nutrients.

    This man deserves the Nobel Prize, and as much as it must hurt having colleges troll you, it makes me have courage after my doctor treats me like a piece of shit for questioning her on the standard of care that's killing me. She looks at me like I'm a nut case. So knowing someone like Tim gets grief let's me know I'm not alone in the very very important fight. I may be a simple lay person, but I know from experience how LCHF has changed my life and health and I'm not at the mercy of anyone's opinion no matter what their education is !!.     I follow Dr. Noakes, Dr. Ken D. Berry, Dr. Paul Mason, Dr. Ali in Texas and many others. Carnivore has totally transformed my type 2 diabetes, but the biggest battle has been family because they think I’m totally wrong. They haven’t done the ten years of research I have, and by that I’ve listened to everyone from vegan Doctors to Carnivore Doctors and even tried the vegan diet a few years ago and I can say that Carnivore is the absolute best !!

    The prairies had 12 feet of good top soil on it when it was covered buffalo and again when replaced by cattle. The grain growers moved in, the top soil disappeared, many species died out and then the dust bowl happened. The drain habitat to grow rice in California. Grains are an enviormental disaster.

      Yeah, cause they stuck so many of the cows into feedlots and covered the prairies with mono-culture grains to feed the darn cows! The majority of the grains grown in the States go into the mouths of animals for slaughter and NOT into the mouths of vegans.

    I do not believe in moderation anymore. I have been moderated eater all my life. I was even bragging about not belonging to the cult of soft drinks and juices along with overprocessed foods. This was my attitude until I was diagnosed with prediabetes at age 66, and that was the last condition I was expecting; after all, "I was eating in moderation." I was not even overweight. My prediabetes is gone after almost a year of changing my moderated eating for a Keto diet, intermittent fasting 2 meals a day, and increasing my physical activity. I will continue my new way of living and eating for the rest of my life. Sometimes moderation is not enough. Good interview!

    This gentleman is a pioneer in the low carb high fat movement. It turned my life around from tired and lethargic to energetic and feeling like Superman.
    I went completely forward cutting out plant based diet.....and erased my type 2 diabetes in 8 months. From my own experiences I can 100% say that carbs are not essential....at all.
    My high fat intake.....had 0 effect on my angiography test. Super clean arteries along with amazing blood lab results.

    Professor Noakes your a genius well done . Been on hi fat low carb regime . I have lost 20 kgs in 5 months I’m feeling amazing my mind is sharp . I’m 60 years of age a cyclist and are blowing my cycling mates away . They are stunned by what’s going on . Kudos to you Tim 💪

    Around 2000, someone I knew had been a patient of Prof Noakes. Then, in 2016/17, I was sitting in a tavern and read an article about Prof Noakes having just been cleared in a trial. I searched for his email address and emailed him just this: "Professor Noakes, I salute you!". Seconds later he replied: "Thank you very much".

    I am a 74 year old male, I had a stent fitted seventeen years ago, the cardiologist immediately on 40 mg of statin. Which I stopped to take, and feeling fine after listening to Prof Noakes a week ago, talk on statins.

    I am lean, I have a huge bread and sugar addiction. Sugar is under control but can't help myself with bread. I was self diagnosed insulin resistant, I had all the symptoms that Tim Noakes described except not over weight. I couldn't even drive the car without falling asleep and I realized it had been going on for about 20 years.
    Trying to fix it with intermittent fasting and flipping my diet from once a vegan to now eating more meat and fat and reducing all the crap. Beware of alcohol, it really is the silent killer if you ask me.

    I’m starting the carnivore diet. I can’t wait. Stopped carbs and sugar 2 weeks ago and noticed weight loss. Next thing to lose will be the vegetables. Thanks to all the people on TH-cam for the videos Dr KenDBerry he’s been the one who got me listening

      Sorry to say but if you lose the vegetables you will damage your health long-term. Yes, stop the PROCESSED carbs and the REFINED sugars but you NEED vegetables because they contain nutrients that you won't get in animal products. Prof Tim Noakes is a great guy but he's 100% wrong about promoting animal products, most of which are contaminated with artificial hormones, antibiotics and other nasty chemicals - especially chicken. Battery chicken and eggs are the WORST animal products to eat, the WORST! Promoting free-range is good but it is far too expensive for most people. Most of the people in South Africa cannot afford free range meat or chicken. Just remember also that when people stop eating the processed food, they will AUTOMATICALLY feel better!!! It's not the carnivore diet or Noakes' diet that is working - it's the loss of the rubbish "food".

    I have a 3 egg omelet for breakfast, and I don't get hungry until the evening. Eliminating lunch has helped me lose weight. If I was eating high carb, I'd be hungry all the time.

      Increase your egg intake, especially yolk. It contains everything that human body needs. Dr Kwasniewski (Optimal nutrition) said that egg yolks help to ditch carbs.

    I am 68 now and started intermittent fasting and the KETO diet 9 months ago. I feel better now than at any other time in my life. It was a little difficult at first but I had to keep myself motivated by the "science" of low carbs and healthy fats for optimal health. I had already given up bread and processed foods. The biggest addiction was my organic milk chocolate candy bar that I had everyday. I did find a substitute healthy almond butter/dark chocolate bar with stevia which is low carb and lets me feel confident that I can maintain this lifestyle for the rest of my life. I keep my carbs at 20-30. I lost 40 pounds and have 10 pounds still to lose. I exercise every morning and my recent metabolic panel came back as healthy. I only wish I could convince my sister to change. My daughter and two little granddaughters all eat low carb with no processed foods which makes me very happy. It saddens me to see so many young obese kids. It is an epidemic way more serious than the covid-19 virus. The lock down has made the problem even worse. Thank you Pro Noakes for the book about your trial and the scientific information.

      Same here. I'm 64 and have changed so many habits this year. First dietary (I'm now carnivore), and other things such as not wearing sunglasses. Also take barefoot walks. So much misinformation out there.

    It takes real guts to challenge contemporary scientific dogma. Especially if you embrace that dogma as Dr Noakes did for many years. To admit you were wrong takes real courage, especially if you are a scientist or a health professional. Thank you Dr Noakes for setting your ego aside and actually searching for the truth. In the US we are 70% overweight 32% obese! Of course the SAD diet is garbage. I will be buying your book.

      The food pyrimid did in the states. Now in Canada, Death Canada has put out a food plan based on cherry picked, vegan sudo science. If we follow it we will soon beat them in the obesity epidemic.

      It's not only the overweight who are metabolically sick; in USA there are more metabolically sick normal weight/thin people, than those who are overweight: TOFI (Thin Outside Fat Inside). 20% of those who are obese, are metabolically healthy (MHO).

    This diet cured me of diabetes. 10+ Years on max dose of Metformin. Stopped cold turkey in 2016 and followed this diet. Lost weight and now my A1C is in 4's. Eating this way is very satisfying and does not leave you hungry a few hours later. Now most sweets are not even appealing to me at age 77+. PS-I was a happy vegetarian when I was diagnosed with blood sugar of 240

    I was so happy to hear Gemma say that she’s still hungry! I am too, after 4 months of being strictly on keto. Everyone talks about losing their hunger and being able to eat only one or two meals. I’ve tried that and suffered terribly with hunger.

      @@HealthHackers NOT ONE DIET FOR ALL. While travelling over the world, Weston Price found different, isolated people groups who were super healthy on different diets. Though, all the healthy diets consisted of unrefined, unprocessed, locally produced, whole foods; without additives. All the healthy diets contained some form/s of animal and fermented products (none was Vegan).
      MD Nicholas Gonzales RIP prescribed more than 10 different diets - according to autonomous nervous system dominance. He explained how some do better on more animal foods, while some can hardly stand the smell if meat. Then there are those of us whose ONS is more balanced, who do well on a variety of foods.
      Recent studies are finding that the difference in Microbiome also plays a huge role in sofar as how different carbs spike blood sugar differently in different individuals. Some for example spike after brown rice, and not on ice cream; while with others the opposite happens.

      Hungry on keto? Probably you are consuming way too much protein and not enough fats. If you increase fat intake you will not be hungry. Guarantee.

    Thanks Professor Noakes : Very low carbohydrate diet has help put my diabetes disease in remission, and take away “all” those nasties that come with metabolic syndrome. My general health has improved very very much .... like ~ 15 years younger. And all the improvements have come in just a few months. Btw I’m just > 70 so it works for the older guys too.

      Professor Tim Noakes is my hero! I was scheduled for knee surgery and fortunately had a tooth infection that prevented the surgery. I watched The Magic Pill, started the diet. Before my dr could reschedule my surgery I was losing weight & I decided to hold off. I quit the statins & found that THAT was my problem. I started Keto in April. Am still losing 1/2 lb a week. Need to lose another 40 lbs. I am 5 ‘ tall and weighed 220. I still carry the handicap placard in my car as a reminder. Though I don’t need it or use it. THANK YOU THANK YOU. You changed my life and the friends around me. My friends with cancer, myesthinia grava, my brother the trauma surgeon, my nephew with a neurological disorder, as well as my diabetic fat friends. WE ALL THANK YOU.

    One of my primary school teachers was into nutrition and 60 years later I still remember what she said, animal protein is complete protein and although beans and plants have some protein they are not complete. I wish I could remember her name, 60 years ago, she was right.😊

      @@Pete4875 he was right though! However, like you said, eating until full on calorically dense fatty meats, should naturally reduce the amount of food you eat AND snacking, comparatively to a standard high carb diet. High carb meals are higher volume to lower caloric density.

    I started carnivore diet in December for 3 months to experiment and would never go back. It is very satisfying to see friends admitting I look healthy and they see results. I'm mostly a fish eater and for budget reasons swapped salmon with sardines, which I eat raw with a little lemon for taste. The difference this made is unbelievable and if one day goes by without sardines I feel something is missing.

    prof. Noakes is damn right 👏 👍I am on my way to Carnivore, just have to finish my sprouts and kefir/yogurt...I must give the carnivore a try!!! BTW I also was diabetic for 20 years, but after 2 years on Keto, I kind of reverse it. The only trouble I have is the inflammation and am sure the carnivore will fix it. Never give up, dudes ...keep on fighting to the end

    This is very educational! very informative. It helps me to stick to a low carb diet. Low carbs is helping with the control my diabetes II and my blood pleasure, I’m 68 and I have been trying for 6 years, first with medications and now diet and meds, I don’t want to proceed to injecting insulin.

    I am bread addicted person born in Poland 🇵🇱 Now living in America . I have horrible time to quite. I did for almost two years when I was on keto diet and fasting. With Covid I started again, but this week my husband and I started eat meat only. I am quite happy but I have cravings for bread . I am type 2 diabetes I rid of being on keto now I believe I am diabetic. I hope carnivore will help me to rid of again. It’s easy to just eat meat. I like raw stake of Tatar. I am fighting bread big time again

      You may be snacking too much and keeping your insulin up. You also might add more healthy fats which will help with the hunger yet not spike your insulin. I eat about 5 cups of salad greens with a cut up avocado. I do not use salad dressing but many people do which would be another way to add in some healthy fats with olive oil.

      Definitely a sign of high insulin! Sometimes carb creep occurs and most people should go by total carbs to avoid that. 🖖

    Some questions to consider:
    *What about conditions like Fat Phobia (and the extreme backlash response to it) and various other eating disorders, like Anorexia, Arexia, Bulimia, Orthorexia, etc... It seems obsessing around the perfect, super-slim body image, with zero visible body fat - maintained by perfect control over food-intake; is becoming an idol in itself - leading to various mental disorders?
    *To what extent is over-exercising causing too much physical stress; in some cases resulting in gaining not only muscle, but fat, or otherwise not being able to burn it off? Also, very lean young females, especially when exercising too much, are losing their fertility?

    I do road cycling and in the morning before a long ride I'd think I had to 'carb up', I'd have a big bowl of porridge and maybe toast too. I've been carnivore for about 6 weeks now and I'm not hungry at all in the mornings and I'm just heading out doing 50/60 miles with some good big hills no problem at all. I also do high intensity work outs most mornings on my indoor bike fasted with no problem.

    I’m on keto and I’m 65 woman. I’ve not felt better!! I’m thrilled to hear don’t need any !! Carbs because I don’t like vegetables and I make myself eat some 🤦🏼‍♀️happy camper now NO veggies

    He was pushing carbo loading back in the olden days of the comrade marathon.
    He's predisposition of being a diabetic clouds his bias.
    Everything is relative. The only thing that's going to improve humans is to eat less. Especially canola oil and sugar.
    Everything else in moderation.
    Some people are genetically unable to digest dairy. But very few.
    Some alcohol.
    Some can smoke till they're a100.
    Fat and protein ARE good and essentially the staple we need.
    Fruit and veg are season depends
    So yes. Less
    Modern trade with fridges is the biggest cause of diet confusion

    I make high fat deserts with eggs(preferably just the yolks), butter, cream, gelatine and a little sweetener plus a flavour of choice (100% chocolate or lemons work well. Purists say sweeteners are bad, but I find a combination of erythritol and stevia can make food taste good without raising my blood glucose. This way I get enough fat in my diet to not constantly feel hungry! Fat bombs are also underrated as a means of satiating that hunger.

      I do this too Random Roses.... I eat a combo of keto and carnivore so also eat dairy, although not too much hard cheese, mascarpone sweetened with erythritol is delicious x

      I do desserts with stevia and monk fruit. I am in for the long haul and enjoy eating. Each person can tailor this lifestyle so it is enjoyable.just keep your carbs at least between 20-50gr. a day. If a person is insulin resistant or has diabetes then they will need to be stricter for awhile. I believe the prof said it took him 7 years. I am fortunate to not have that issue .
