In my opinion Charlie Benante is a great dedicated drummer. And super humble, which is something very important. Many successes. And successes on his big channel.
I was fortunate to see Pantera numerous times back in the day. When this tour was announced there was no doubt I was going to go, primarily so my teenage son (Pantera is his favourite band) could at least experience a percentage of what I got to experience in hearing this music how it was meant to be heard……LIVE. When the curtain dropped and they laid into “A New Level” when we saw the Toronto stop last summer it was absolutely surreal to me and the biggest reason was Charlie. It sounded just like I remembered it 20+ years ago…….it sounded like Vinnie was up there. We saw them again this past Monday and again…….mind blown. Charlie was 100% the right man for the job. Not only because of his longtime friendship with the members of Pantera but because he is a phenomenal player who cares so deeply to honour his friends and doing it the justice it deserves. In all honesty, this Pantera tribute doesn’t work if not for Charlie and how hard he slaved over getting this right.

Having seen the genuine article several times throughout the 90's, Charlie is respecting Vinnie 99.999% and those trigger samples on top, it's so fucking epic! Wow!
I was fortunate enough to see Pantera 13 times up and down the Northeast and was hesitant when the tribute reformation was announced. Thankfully I can make up my own mind and decided to check out the Jersey show and I'm glad I did. Tailgating in the parking lot most of the day, meeting new friends and just reliving our youth then the curtain drops and BOOM! If you close your eyes and relax the sound was dead on. Scale of 1-10 the show was a solid 9.5 and can't wait to catch my 15th. #ForTheBrothers
Big fan since Anthrax wow now Pantera congrats, you are killing it My 2 cents On your right foot use right hand double pedal (you hit both bass drums) inners 22 liters 24. On your left foot use a left hand double pedal (you hit both bass drums As a drum builder I’ve made it work
So awesome that the vinnie trigger sample comes through but the pure entity of the live playing shines into one big sound. Charlie really nailed Vinnie's parts
I always look forward to these videos but this is my favorite. Charlie is such an amazing drummer and humble human being. Thanks for always bringing it
I’ve always loved Charlie’s drumming with Anthrax and he’s been absolutely nailing it with Pantera, his style definitely fits for Vinnie’s parts and I’m looking forward to seeing the new one with Rex and Zakk whenever it comes

@@drumrundown there's another video with the A and B kits, and this A kit was the main feature, too. All good, there are different elements to this video that aren't in the other one. Each has its own flare 👍
Yep. And this is the kit played on the recent shows. The A/B naming convention seems to throw people. We are certainly glad we amped up the rundown trend, more info for everyone!
Can confirm, Danmar wood beaters rule! I'll go ya one even further, I have been using a very cool one from Creative Percussion that is a SKATE WHEEL BEATER!
Try "low boy" custom beaters- my absolute favorite beater I've ever used. They come in wood, felt and leather striking surfaces- totally customizable. Great company. Best bass drum tones I've ever got.
Funny you said loudest drums after seeing them in Nashville! I was there and live close. Bridgestone Arena used to SUCK for concerts! They dropped like $5-$7 Million on the sound system several years ago and now it ROCKS!! They sounded great and LOG was mind blowing! Second time seeing this duo, lady one was in Indy outdoors. Had seen TOOL soon after Bridgestone was revamped and was amazed! Spent a ton of money to bring by son with friends when Metallica came to town after and they friggin used their own sound at like 30 friggin decibels and it SUCKED! We were like 10 rows away and could talk with indoor voices while they were playing, what a joke! Just giving some big props out there for Bridgestone Arena making concerts in Nashville great again! I've bashed them pretty bad in the past so... lol
Arena shows are tricky, props to these crews for rolling in and getting a massive show up in a few hours. Lucky to have them give us 30 minutes in the chaos to get these rundowns done! I agree, Bridgestone has been sounding KILLER lately!
I flew in for that show....that was a great venue and LoG absolutely crushed, then Pantera tribute just laid the final KO down! Floods alone made it epic! \m/
I've seen Metallica quite a few times probably like 8 time inside and for some reason they just ain't loud inside now I saw them at stadiums before also not on current tour but 2017 in Baltimore and boom great sound kinda weird

61 years old, but looks 40 max, and plays like he’s still in his 20s. Very underrated drummer.
heavy metal is the fountain of youth...
Indeed. Still in great shape, unlike some other drummers from the 80's...
underrated how exactly??

Totally agree!
Well said. He's gone above and beyond and is a killer player!
That sound Charlie made at the end, never realized how synonymous that is of Dime. Nothing but respect for his friends
You mean Vinnie but yes I know what you mean
@alonzo2k must have been an Abbott brother thing lol dime does it a bunch during his japan young guitar interview
Charlie is awesome. Always been one of my favorite drummers.
What a legend! One of the best drummer in the world and still so humble and down to earth....
He could have not been nicer. He even complimented my shirt. what a guy!
So cool how Vinnies sound is brought in with those triggers.
The kit sounded so good live. That unmistakable Pantera sound!
The techs and crew are CRUSHING IT.
This dude does not get nearly enough credit for his influence in the metal drumming world. Dude is an animal
LIVING LEGEND.
Love Charlie. He's an OG for sure! I'd love to know more about the full shell sizes as well as the patch on his kick drum

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing, what a rad story! Glad to hear a long time fan is enjoying this celebration.
Ty Awesome Video, amazing drummer, one of my absolute favourites along with Vinnie Paul - Charlie is the only choice for Pantera tribute tours.
LOVE how he called out the troll on Instagram "Fuck You" Gotta love Charlie man
Privileged to have seen this tour last year (Milwaukee) was incredible 🤘
Our ears are still ringing!

I have always loved Benante’s playing. His playing is just so increadibly tight. Almost like a human metronome 😂
What a nice dude, incredible.

What microphones is Charlie using?
We'll get a full arsenal list from the techs!
Tom Gauger stick
Vinnie played Pearl and Sabian. I get endorsements, but if you are going to play to honor him, at least play the same brands
Vinnie played Tama, Pearl, and DDrum throughout his career.
u need to get Hannes Van Dahl from sabaton
Anthrax,Pantera
Panthrax?
If only Hakk Wylde would care as much
It's zack wild
he plays electronics live and live electronicly haha
Charlie don't Cheat
He looks like he plays with too much head and not enough heart. Too technical for my taste.
Their live sound sucks they could do better
It’s not Pantera!
Stop it
