This is one of my favorites mainly because of Robin's voice, I think however if you what whenever he sings you can see the emotion on his face. I love The BeeGee's but as I have gotten older have really started enjoying each of their voices individually. RIP Robin and Maurice. Thanks Barry.

Love your reaction, especially to Robin's chorus. His voice is amazing. I can understand how you got emotional when you heard him sing. Robin's voice does that to you. As Maurice said, Robin sings from his heart so you can't help but feel the emotions his voice invokes in you. It is one of a kind and can never be duplicated or imitated.
This song is amazing. Barry sounds different on this one and the haunting sadness in Robin's voice that is perfect for this song. It wouldn't be right if they had any other arrangement.
Great review! I am glad that there are some songs that can still make grown men tear up. Robin was called the Songbird for a reason. What a voice! All these men were amazing.
Good to see a man cry to my favorite group I grew up on🥰🥰🥰Robin opens his arms like that because it expands your lung capacity and helps belt out those beautiful lyrics. As a singer I'm sure he knew this. 💜💜💜 Bee Gees forever.
It is nice to see your reaction to Robin Gibb's beautiful voice 👏👍like you do I think he is fantastic and with his brothers coming in with their nice voices.
My all time favorite band. Love them all. The music was always so diverse, from the early years to the disco tracks and then beyond. This is my favorite Bee Gees song, but of course I have sooo many that I love. ❤
Gorgeous song. I haven't heard it before, but if I ever need a reminder of just how beautiful Robin's voice is, this is what I'll listen to. I remember their little brother well. Crazy talented like his brothers. His descent into drug use was fairly public - the tabloids were all over it. His family tried to help, but it turned into a tragedy.
Robins voice is always stunning...but even more so on this song. The way his voice over powers Barry's on the chorus knocks me out every time I hear it.
That's not only a song, it's real art of music. A anthem. The difference between them and many of worldclass musicians/songwriters, is their ability to always find the way to both heart and soul of the listener. But it seems to me, some of them have shields, so they don't want to be overwhelmed by emotions. These are the ones, negatin' them. What they don't understand is, theres no competition needed in music. Music is a gift for us all, to find our inner flame. And it helps us to survive. In case of the Bee Gees, they searched for a way, to bear the loss of Andy.
Lyrically one of the saddest songs ever written! Your emotional reaction to the lyrics combined with Robin’s outstanding vocal says it al.l, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this reaction to one of my favourite sad songs ever!!! 😍🥰🥰
WHAT A HEART TOUCHING SONG. I AGREE THE BEE GEES REALLY SOMEHOW HAVE THE ABILITY TO REALLY BRING TO LIFE THE ESSENCE OF LOVE. HAP, YOUR REACTION WAS INCREDIBLE!!💜💜🎶🙏
Aren’t they wonderful?!! That’s why fans continue to listen to their songs 30-40-50 years after they’ve been recorded. I read somewhere I think that this song was written about/for Andy. This would have been just a couple years after his death.
Barry said in a 2009 interview with Tim Roxborogh that this wasn’t about or for Andy, but about heartbreak in general…..& especially when someone’s lonely.
@@kathieovercash8414 I've seen this comment before on YT & not sure where it came from. First, it was written by all 3 & I've never seen any of them say it was about Andy & Victoria. A couple songs from the One album were written for/about Andy & that album was dedicated to him. Of course this song wasn't written about their father, but the Size Isn't Everything album was dedicated to him as he passed away a year earlier. From what I've read, this song isn't about anyone in particular, but about mortality, reflection, loneliness & the passing of time (per Barry's interview with Tim). I also don't think they'd ever write a song about Andy's broken relationship with Victoria. They wouldn't allow Andy's duet with her (All I Have To Do Is Dream) to be on a compilation album, so I don't think they'd wanna profit off his broken heart as well.
The title of the song, 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' comes from the title of a 20th Century novel by Ernest Hemingway, who borrowed it from a line of a sermon by the 15th Century poet and cleric, John Donne. (It basically refers to the church bells that were once rung upon the death of a person.) I've heard that they wrote this for their younest brother, Andy, after his death. I think the most amazing gift The Bee Gees had was to make almost every single one of their songs so instantly relatable, that you can't help but connet to it DEEPLY, upon the first hearing. (So many times, we have to hear a song a few times, before we really get into it, but they made you connect to it, instantly.) WONDERFUL reaction! It's hard NOT to be moved by their music in some way!
I believe also it is relating to Andy's failed relationship with Victoria Principal and his slide into a drug-filled life and eventual death at a young age. She left him due to his problems and he never recovered from this.
Barry said in a 2009 interview with Tim Roxborogh that this song wasn’t written about or for Andy, but about heartbreak in general…..& especially when someone’s lonely.
It's a song with a deep meaning. Beautiful music, lyrics. Bee Gees are great. Real artists, real talent. Totally in tears, as well. Their music really reaches deep down, into the soul, into our hearts.💖💖💖 Great one, Hap ♥️

In another interview Barry had said what it was about. The parents themselves blamed Andy's girlfriend for his decline. The song was written because they were all in pain and perhaps blaming the wrong person. It was a shame. The lyrics give it away.
Their little brother Andy died in 1988 from a heart infection after a battle with drug abuse.Barry was very close to him.All 4 of them were married young and divorced ,and later remarried. The song is about heartbreak, breakups, and loss. "For whom the bell tolls".
And death, the bells would toll for one who had died. Also for you is good bye for me is to cry. There's a hole in my soul and so many more parts like that.
For whom the bell tolls is a phrase that originated with a line from a famous poem by John Donne: ‘Never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.’ This particular phrase was also made famous by Hemingway in his novel of the same name. A bell tolling in this context is for when someone dies.

They are talking about a lot of fish in the sea. They are saying that there is only one person who will know you as deeply, intimately, all the foibles and fears, you have, Because they have only loved one person the same way and allowed themselves to be known by them. There aren't many people who REALLY know you in this life, and these lyrics are talking about how you can take that kind of love forgranted and not realize how rare and precious it is until you see yourself losing it.

It's a very emotional video, I agree. I never get through it without tearing up. I've watched it for years. Church bells toll for people that have passed away and for all human kind. Thats what the saying means. Then you have Robins voice, the statue of liberty and the buildings where so many died. The video is a flood of emotions especially with the twin towers there. Makes one think of life before that awful day and all the people lost that were in those buildings, the families hurt etc. Yes it's a very emotional video. And I thought it was just me 🤣💚

First, song writers don't necessarily live the actual event of the song. They do have such empathy with humanity to know those emotions so well a beautiful song is created. Lastly, so many love songs aren't about a lover relationship. They simply can be about a father with a broken heart, a brother who has died; maybe about a best friend you haven't spoken with in 10-years and you're missing them so much, or a sister you've had a falling out with. Although the latter examples aren't what a heavy "BellToll" is for as it rings for someone who has passed, s death. Whereas, a lighter 'Bell Toll" rings to announce a birth, or a wedding, etc. I do love your reactions!!! Please keep up the great work!!
