You mentioning GT3 has your favorite childhood memory of the series reminds me when I used the Mustang Cobra SVT to tackle the Endurance event in the Super Speedway in GT3, and my prize was a blue and white F1 car. Completely broke the game open after that but the joy I felt and the extreme surprise since I didn´t know Gran Turismo had F1 cars is something that likely will never get matched again playing a racing game. It´s one of those moments that felt 10 times greater because it took advantage of childhood ignorance and ease of awe. And now as an adult looking back, nostalgia for the magic of discovery.
Interesting and fun challenge idea! The Corvette Z06 RM is such a powerhouse as well - I think DoVe_7 used it in one of his GT5 runs too and it served him equally well in there. One thing I would've liked to see being done before tackling the Dream Car Championship is the Gran Turismo All-Stars Championship as it's essentially an even more difficult version of the GTWC in Gran Turismo 5. I'm sure the 'Vette would've been perfect for that too :)
Oh! I have an idea! Can you beat a Gran Turismo game of your choice with less than 450hp? You can change the horsepower limit to be less, but you cannot add on it.
My flavor of challenge runs are usually down to "can you beat GT1 or GT2 with only cars from X manufacturer". Technically, speedrunning is a challenge run in of itself, which I've been doing a bit of in the past few years, primarily GT1 Any% and GT2 Japanese Any% (you don't even have to beat the Nationals or Regionals, you can just enter the GT World Championship immediately if you have IA License and a competitive car) In the coming year though, I'm hoping to do a "newcomer manufacturers" run of GT2 through GT4. Basically, if the car came from a manufacturer that's been used in a previous game up to that point, you can't use it. GT3's is going to be interesting, and which a massive asterisk and a lot of ingenuity is gonna have to come into play.
Before starting the video, my guess is "You can, but on championship races only, since not winning single races will make you unable to actually win the event". Like, you techincally can complete Gran Turismo 1 without winning a single race other than the 2 Route 11 endurances because all of the races are championships other than the endurances, but you really need to manipulate your rivals to do so. And I wonder how hard would this be in B-Spec.
Gonna be honest, was expecting this to be done in GT1, since EVERY race in that game is a championship, but this was still pretty cool. Also would love to see more gameplay videos from ya.
I had a Veloster N for about a year and decided to trade on an FK8 CTR. I loved the car, but those seats are designed for a very specific type of person. I was so uncomfortable in them I actually went back to the dealer and cancelled the sale and got my Veloster N back. Other than the seats, the car was glorious.
I actually managed to become champion without winning a single race (all P2) more than 2 decades ago in a game called Ignition. A german guy called outfire did the same around 3 years ago in Viper Racing. Ofc, what he did here is much more complex and obviously significantly harder, but the idea stands: this type of challenge is just great, everybody should try it in whatever game they like.
Love the challenge, this video was very fun to watch, especially as a fan of GT5. I also really liked that final Q&A question so I'm gonna answer it myself. For the race car I'd choose the Mazda 787B. I have an attachment to that car because I used it to beat the GT4 World Championship for the first time, and it was an absolute _monster._ On hards it would no-stop or one-stop every race iirc. As for the road car I'd go with an 80s Lamborghini Countach. It's always been one of my favorite classic super cars and I'm a sucker for 70s and 80s cars. As for a favorite road car I'd daily, I'd have to go with a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT Twin-Turbo VR4 in red. It's fast, stylish, and with adaptive suspension and a cushy interior, seems like it'd be very comfortable, plus its got decent cargo space. I discovered this car from playing Gran Turismo 2. And it became my go-to track-demon since, fully upgraded, you have a car with tons of downforce, AWD, and nearly a thousand horsepower.
Genius idea that made smashing entertainment. Loved the tactical crashing. It's something I do all the time, just for the hell of it. It began in the old days of proper endurance races, when we got the twenty-four hours at Sarthe and The 'Ring, plus eight hours of this and that, and five hundred laps of the other. Once the lead was three or four laps, something was needed to beat the tedium, so playing with the opponents positions became the game. Like you say, some are really difficult to knock back, and keep making back the places, so it becomes even more of a mission to prevent the algorithm getting its own way with the finishing order. In GT7, the grinding race at Sardegna is one where I often intervene and alter the order. Especially if one of the Artificial Idiots spins me out when I overtake.
That's a fun challenge run! Your reasoning behind not getting a huge lead and dropping back at the end would be my reasoning, too, along with what happened to you at that NASCAR Daytona race.
My no. 1 GT memory is also from 3, specifically seeing the US intro for the first time back in around 2003. Since, its also one of my EARLIEST memories in general.
GT5 Makes me sad - I just had to transfer all my saves to a new PS3 because my old one was in the process of kicking the bucket, and GT5 kept my progress, but deleted all my custom tracks and photos. I checked, and they are all still there in the game data folder!
This is a brilliant idea. It’s time to play some gt5 again. I think it took more effort to stagger the points and ensure a 2nd place while winning overall took way more effort than just winning. The reply ability is there, you just need to find the challenge, or make the challenge to yourself.
Every time you pitted an opponent I could hear toto saying no Michael no, that was so not right. Excellent video and an interesting challenge run, merry Christmas bro.
Well actually I was still playing GT6 and GT Sport (offline) and I thought it would be fun to try out My First Gran Turismo because people told me the cars had the same graphics as GT7. Long story short..last week I bought GT7 and to my surprise all 18 cars I won in My First Gran Turismo are gifted to you! 🙂👍🏻 I really enjoyed your run and approach. Spend so much time in GT5 and still remember before they pitpause patched it you had to keep your console running during endurance races. Telling everyone DON'T TURN IT OFF!! And sometimes they did..😢
I'm part way through a no spending run on GT5. I've been having to grind the licences and specials to try and win something useful to continue my progress.
The part about the choosing cars. Well being a Brazilian I want 3 cars that exists outside here and 1 that only exists here in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. The cars are: Dodge Viper Mazda RX-7 Audi RS3 And the one that doest not exists outside the 3 countries I mentioned: Renault Sandero R.S. Its the Dacia Sandero II with the F4R 2.0L Engine... I love this car...
How different would it play out if you did the Dream Car Championship with the XJR-9 LM as the opponent? Despite being a real race car and not fictional, it does show up and being a Group C, absolutely crushes everything else in the Dream Car Championship
While testing RPCS3, I tried to make GT5 interesting by limiting HP of all my cars to 90% with power limiter, and add my fat ass to the car, with a 36kg ballast that I try to keep as close of a similar weight distribution as possible. I can upgrade, but the car in 100% power and without the added weight can't be over the event's limits. Also I need to have "double (if=">2" then -1)" the level of a car to buy it, so level 0 is fine, but for level 1 cars, I need level 2, for level 2 I need 3, for like, level 5, I would need 9, and so on. Stopped when my PC reached it's limit for running the game well.. 12 cars or more on track seem to be a bit much for it's comfort. But I am considering doing it on my PS3 in the holidays period to see if I can enjoy it (though what I was really waiting for was for the Used Car Dealership mod for GT6).
Interesting challenge, and Merry Christmas, thought hmm well B spec went through my head then you went further and I'm like oh yeah the level up of GT5 you do any event and keep leveling regardless. Good idea. But every time I play GT5 I go og not bad start then eh comfort tires, eh entry access by cars then level gates being minor compared to GT7 for tuning blocked behind it. XD To me even GT5' quick access tuning, while not GT1&2 menu jumping similar I still find myself using it as besides about half fhe tuning options available I still used it more ghen thr tuning shop menu itself as besides a few things not there I still did fine tuning with fhe options available. At least while not a fan of more opponents on the track, in GT5 the higher opponent count allows better dirty driving and point counts then the GT3 or 4 approach of 6 cars on the track, 5 opponents and wrll 3 races for 5 event championships and differing for 7 and 10 ones of points and ruining the AI chances being awkward. But GT5 AI is passable at times. Even when they are awkwardly passing the player and how we players drive. I do every event in the game and still be car purchase careful not always upgrade careful and what! at the used car dealer and eh most times prize cars. Special onee I don't think much about but the main ones A and B spec eh prize cars/money is a bit eh sometimes. Sigh comfort tires, don't really change tires unless have to and ok AI besides upgrade balancing. Ending at just GT World Championship in 5 is too easy compared to GT3 or 4. So doing later events make more sense, or B spec equivalent as well. A Q/A again right. Fair memory. I think GT Concepts/Prologues are great, not judt as demos, but as content besides their intended goals. My First GT frrls likr Gt for Boys in bad naming but also I mean ghe polish was enough for me to tell irs passable but still veteran like balance or challenge thrn newcomer easy at times. I have to play them for interest even if no interest in GT7 till its cheoa as I don't like it's format. I documented GT Sport offline experience to the Fandom wiki for 1.69 update, and 1.68 experience. So yep. Even as a non GT Sport player it has its moments. That and it got me to play enough of it and use features I didn't in the lead up/trophies unobtainable as well anymore. I treat prologues and Concepts as extra content. I prefer some license tests and coffee breaks in them then the full game ones. Remembering that the Gymkhana layouts like the sun orange or so roadster layout and going backwards to forward for the end in GT4 Prologue I prefer to the what IA equivalent in GT4 full. As I think its a later one in 4 Prologue. It always stuck out to me more. That and the 2001/2 Concept is just fun. Besides thr Autumn Ring in GT3 and Pace Car or Pod Race or the GT3 benefits. HD concept is what it is and no care for. To me 4/5 Prologue and 2002 Concept I love. I don't see tbem as ehat their names are. I enjoy the contrnt like I would thrain games. Labelsean nothing whrn I fins the content fun or better then parts of the final game ones that's without counting for thr physics differences I mean purely the events they offer. Irs like doing license tests I enjoy the challenge, sure thry are segmented time challenges and a tutorial but thats the thing thry are tjme challenges, like a cone, fuel or others its still fun ti me. WRC3 gor 360/LS3 it wad gate, time, cone, whatever, I had a hlast with that. It's all I buy MotoGP games for. Other hames with mechanics or events with interesting ideas. So mechanically or event ideas are my go to reason to play racing games. Blame Spyro/Ratchet mixed gameplay styles or wanting more then optional objectives, very few side areas cough Dirt 5 compared to Dirt 3 or Wreckfest compared to Flatout. Just event requirements is one thing but event rules and differences in NFS Undercover/Carbon are fun for me as new to thede games. But Juiced 2 had 3+ drift moded ler alone other regular ones. Give me that then oh a highway as in not drift but driving on a highway wow what a label Midnight Club LA, versus genuinely changed rules. Big difference a label and functionality xoes. Irs why I hate MCLA, was my firsta nd felt like what an illusion of content. The world is fine, characters, vibr and so on, I don't care for it but I see the appeal, but the content sucks so the game sucks for me. 2/10. 3-4 years in for GT7 is odd but Sony wants money and 30th anniversary celebration excuse to offer something and 3 year or so GT car transfer limited time excuse. Do they want audiences. Or else GT is floating but has repeated audiences or more veterans going pass or caduals with no interest in cars besides entry level like My GT. They don't care for Motorsport, the tjner era or otherwise. Open worlds they play regardless of cars for the world, I don't care for that, I play for events/physics, gameplay, not the world vibe. Most I hate because the tasks suck, movesets for humans/animals/cars are boring. If a platformer was, same with other genres. Not safe experiences to play/move characters or use them in level design. Good NSX race car choice, I don't have preferences but like Scaler PS2 Shapeshifting Chameleon platformer, the Medosium attack sound I like, even shower water mimicable XD, so for me the Tanaka NSX sound, even if a vacuum is great. XD I don't have any historical or dream car, just use whatever. I don't rven like real life physics. Hate it. Game physics I prefer of GT3/PGR2&3 so to me the IRL versions would suck. I don't care for cars that much, games more so. Even Forza Motorsport games aren't that bad/obnoxious vut 1-4 always had more variety wrll 3&4 did, 1&2 are more limited at times. As replaying GT5 with 3D it made sense while GT7 has levels but is too gated, GT2-4 have 1sts for prize cars even if you can do things you still need GT4 Beginner to unlock Professional. GT3 I mean depends the ending of Beginner/Amateur and credits. But GT6 with stars sure but the 1st or enough stars or licensed and 1st in the championship dors matter I think. But GT5 is purely levels and not much matters it's access to any events do it's perfect for this challenge. But no repeats I mean any single race, any B spec back an forth. Its level catch up as a challenge in itself there per single race not just championships. Or forced losing in A Spec mode as B spec isn't very good till later learning anyway so easy loses. Overkill I mean 800 is something but 1000 with even Gran Turismo era highest cars when different in GT4 LM ones so GT5 I mean. 800 for a Corvette road model for sure is fair. Not overkill but competitive. Ah rain and 24hr track hmm. Endurance makes no difference of position and lecels are slow so ending the run at Extreme makes sense. The car is more important then credits. Well duh because AI/physics in GT5 is possible. Its the best game for this challenge. Yeah the trhills versus siting behind opponents, makes sense why people don't play that way for non 1st position runs. XD Someone had to do it though. Oh what a spin out ouch. Length and combating them at right times.
This video make me want PolyPhony make GT8 a modern version of GT5. which am sure not gona happen.. 😔.. And if it happen they well ruin it like GT sport and 7.. GT5 it have an amazing and good career mode with a good design progression. Thank you Roflwaffle 👍🏽
Do a Gran Turismo 3 or 4 run without upgrading any cars. I’ve yet to attempt it myself, but I’ll see if I can do it and let you know if it was successful
I'm going to say this and I don't give a flying rat's ass who I offend. Any game that requires you to handicap yourself in order to have some semblance of challenge is either a game made for kids or simply a bad game. The Gran Turismo games have been pathetically easy since day one and I would know because I played them all. I still have a copy of Gran turismo's 3 and 4 but I don't play them because they're not fun because they're so easy.
My answer to your question: No. No, I can not beat Gran Turismo without winning. If I don't win, I don't beat this challenge. I also can't beat Gran Turismo 5 without winning a single race. I just can't. I do not have the time to beat it.
roflwaffle and a challenge run was definitely not on my bingo card for this year lol

XD
I don't have any historical or dream car, just use whatever.
XD
Someone had to do it though.
Oh what a spin out ouch.
Length and combating them at right times.
Redbull should hire this guy
This video make me want PolyPhony make GT8 a modern version of GT5. which am sure not gona happen.. 😔.. And if it happen they well ruin it like GT sport and 7..
GT5 it have an amazing and good career mode with a good design progression.
Thank you Roflwaffle 👍🏽
Do a Gran Turismo 3 or 4 run without upgrading any cars. I’ve yet to attempt it myself, but I’ll see if I can do it and let you know if it was successful
Alan vs Ayrton Simulator
Is it possible to play gt 3 or gt4 on pc now? I'd like to try but due to war i can't play on ps(
Are you using a wheel or controller?
Racing evolution g.v.i. japan gt race be like:
would it be better if you race until the Dream Car Championship, where there you'll race against the LMP and Group C cars?
You have a beautiful voice
Imagine now someone doing such strats to win championship in real life...
The Walter Copeland strategy.
@Fay7666 The one and only real strategy.
Lost the battle but won the war ahh challenge
That's cool and all but now do it in B-Spec
The game should have been a soft challenge run from the start
Dunno what all the fuss is about. I played gran turismo 5 as a kid and i never won a race.
Merry Christmas Rofl and everyone in the comments. Wishing you a happy and Merry Christmas to you and your family from me and mine!🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁

6:38 at here it goes down. Likely captured it in post
Hello there
I got Gran Turismo PSP
Go flat out🎉❤😮
id say so
I'm going to say this and I don't give a flying rat's ass who I offend.
