Reece James will be massively wasted as an inverted full back. He's one of the best crossers of the ball in Europe. Everytime he crosses the ball, it is a goalscoring opportunity.
Don't worry he will be injured in less than a quarter of the season more than likely.

Reece's best attribute is his crosses and I feel inverting him will negate his impact going forward. However, it will certainly help with his injuries.
He can still utilise his passing range and crossing in the DM role, as well as from set-pieces. I'd rather a fit and effective James than James that plays 10 games a season because he's constantly bombing the flanks.
@@jones7778 I would rather have a fit and effective James too! His assist for Jackson against Forrest was just world class! We will be losing that by inverting him which is a shame.
@@kwongahkim1460 I feel you. But James is so versatile. Maybe Maresca will invert the LB instead at times, so you see James wider. But I think it's more sustainable for both him and the team to play next to Enzo as a DM
@@kwongahkim1460 we’ll see a different version of Reece James, I really like the angle that being inverted brings for crossing into the box and it allows him to dictate a game a little bit more and really show off his technical class which we all know he has

This guy is all over the place man - Sterling is key because Maresca will need to lean on experience whether he can. Meanwhile has any player over age of 24 - Disasi, Chalobah, Chilwell and Gallagher in the unsafe column. Then starts basocally saying Jackson will play LW over Nkunku but has Nkunka has a key player and Jackson as just safe

Rudiger was way faster, way better on the ball, a much better passer, more aggressive and assertive. No matter how much time Disasi gets, he won't be half the player that Rudiger was for us at his best.
I think Maresca having Gallagher will make his game play different from Pep and Arterta because the moment Chelsea loses the ball, Conor will instantly do a "Kanté" chase to win back possession for the team. Having Conor around will help make our midfield quick in moving forward to create more chances, his runs, coverings and defensive duties are top notch, even if it means for him to come from the bench, it's okay.

Gusto one of the successes of last season. Missed Reece but Gusto stepped up brilliantly.
Bruv, just to point out, Casadei is familiar with Maresca's style of football. Did he not play under him at Leicester? I think he's gonna be safe.

Exactly. Everyone's talking about us signing a left back but we have 3 pretty good ones and statistically one of them is gonna step up and be a star. I still think Chillwell has it if be can stay fit 😭
@@MajorMango28 that's the problem, staying fit. He's not stayed fit in almost two seasons now. Plus I'm not so sure he can switch as an inverted fullback, his type of game is primarily left wing, running towards the attack, leaving Caicedo in a difficult position. That's why Cucurella is a better fit, I mean we all saw it towards the end of last season how he thrived as an inverted fullback.
@@MajorMango28 Chilwell is not good, Cucurella is average. With Cucurella I worry about his lack of size and the fact that he's an easy pushover of possession. He's only good at receiving with space, not so good receiving under pressure. We must 100% sign a LB/CB hybrid, preferably taller/stronger, who can pass
@jones7778 I consider Chillwell a significantly better defender than Cucu and I think he deserves another shot. Not a lot of people talk about this but in the CL final apart from Kante he was our best player and injuries have been unfair to him. Plus nobody wants his injury prone body rn so I think we should try one more season with him
@@MajorMango28 The CL final was THREE years ago. Chilwell hasn't defended well since 21/22. He's just regressed so much with these injuries, so ineffective on the ball now and is dominated by opposition off of it. Last season showed the new Chilwell. Below average playing out of press, and struggles to impact the game in the final 3rd now, which was one of his strengths. Doesn't matter where you play him, you're getting an injury prone player past his best. I'd rather Cucurella at this point, all day long.

fair enough, George. but I think Gusto is a key player. While Reece should definitely be that inverted RB player, Gusto is more suited for that wide right role. What was it, 10 assists last season? he’s perfect over there.
gives us key transition defense and we get the best of his wide offense serving it up to the likes of Nkunku, Palmer, Jackson

He wasn't amazing, he was decent. He's a good enough keeper but we won't be competing for the title or UCL with a player of his quality as a our number 1. Sanchez is awful, he needs to leave.
He made some massive errors and lost us a few points, he was a solid 6/10 6.5 at a push
we're gonna need someone better than Sanchez and Petrovic. Both of them are mediocre when it comes to ball playing and building from the back. We need a GK that's goof with it

Actually. Most of the squad are not good enough compared to Chelsea standards. We can keep some of them as backups but we need to spend some hundreds of millions to rebuild a new team that is good enough to challenge City and Real Mad Raid.
I think we actually do have the void of azpi filled but yeah agreed with the rest hopefully Nkunku can be that hazard replacement cuz he's class.
Sterling at 29 years of age is an 'elder statesman' in the Chelsea team. The team has need of his experience and frankly, talent to turn a game and win The Blues football matches.

Chelsea only have 2 LWs: Sterling and Mudryk. Mudryk is still not good enough to be starting every game. Sterling or another new LW is needed.
I want Santos to have a full season at Strasbourg. They love him there. Maybe Angelo can go back too for one more season as his season was cut short by injury
If you look at this picture, between key, safe & unsafe - this team could be the least in semifinal of champions league. This is a very good squad. I think Lukaku, Maatsen, Hall , Fofana and Ziyach still are Chelsea players. So there are more than enough to sell, so we can keep Gallagher and Challobah. I wish we could bring Kante back
Casadei was a key player at Leicester city under Enzo Maresca so I think he might be safe.

You have to have like 3 players for each position due to injuries......and you have to factor in that we have more games to play next season.

i can see palmer being used in midfield like dewsbury hall with madueke and sterling/mudryk being out on the wings
James, chilwell, chalobah, sterling are safe since they have the most experience of the premier league for us to build a foundation we need them as first options as the rest learn and have experience,
Gallagher compliments our midfield he is our Kante + lampard reloaded we need him in that midfield for his energy and pressing.
After watching a video on his tactics i think you have to go

I am pretty excited to see how this plays out. If we win a trophy and challenge for top 6, I’d call it a successful season for first year with Maresca.
Well done George - I agree with your Key players with the exception of James and Sterling. James is a very talented player, however, are we going to see the same petulance from him next year as we saw this year. If we do, then yes, he's safe, but I would look at giving someone else the armband. Sterling is experienced, however doesn't take a leadership role, and also appears to disappear for periods of a game when things aren't going great.. That's when he needs to turn up - when things aren't going great and you need someone to help the captain restore confidence in the systems and to calm the team down. You also have to remember that for a lot of your safe/Key players, this will be their second season in EPL - for some - a steep learning curve, but one which some have passed with flying colours.

I want to see chalobah and colwill in central defense I think the combination will work well
Colwill and chalobah center defense will be great and currently without Silva I don't trust a defense without chalobah who is more experienced in premier league
The only thing that worries me is Cole's position...he was much more effective in the middle as a n.10 last season when Enzo didn't play.. Caicedo was also better when Enzo was injured. It'll be interesting to see what the new coach has in mind.

Other than the stupid fouls I still like Badiashile he had like 2 bad games after coming off a horrible injury and everyone wrote him off. He was instrumental in the way we started playing well as much as Chalobah and Thiago Silva were flipped around he was the safe starter for a reason and he was solid.

When we played Leicester Dewsbury-Hall (who was by far the best player on the pitch) targeted Caicedo not Gallagher. That had to be a tactical decision by Maresca. I interpret that as Maresca having a lot of respect for Gallagher. The full match is on TH-cam if anyone feels like watching it.
That doesn't really matter because he has zero input in terms of transfers. Clearlake are going to try and push Gallagher out no matter what because profit is all they care about.
I feel like that more so shows hus respect for Caicedo but i might be dumb 😂

Bashir Humphreys is technically the best 2 footed defender I've ever seen in a Chelsea shirt Fofana has got his work cut out to outmatch him.. It seems to me that Todd Boehly is more intuned with the sport than he is given credit for. He signed Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer as priority signings. I doubt Poch had Palmer in mind. It was Sterling who helped Boehly win over Palmer. It seems to me that Boehly has been watching Man City's approach to the game and their win ratio with said approach. I remember hearing that Boehly personally confronted the team in the Dressing Room, and the player he singled out for rebuke was Sterling! Why just Sterling? Not because of his lack of form only but poor leadership in the face of hardship of a young squad. Additionally, it seems like the benching of Sterling created a rift between Boehly and Poch. Boehly had always had in mind a manager who could replicate Man City's football in order to get the best out of his signings. My layman's observation...Sterling will miss chances but when he is on the field there will be chances!
