    I got a 2019 Tiguan SE. Made sure to get the one with the panoramic roof. I really have NO complaints besides the lack of power....
    CONS:
    1) Its not unbearable but if you're pressing down to 2-3k rpms off a stop, itll take some time to get rolling to 30mph...
    2) Within the first 1000 miles, I noticed the ECO-mode's transmission had a mind of its own. Now at around 3.5k miles, its starting to behave more like its advertised.
    3) Got a recall notice for it in the mail about its rear coilovers [due to material composition or something] but that can be glossed over.
    4) The safety features like lane-assist and front-collision warning sometimes can act a bit sketchy. Ive had 2 instances now where the auto-brake safety feature engaged (not violently) and it scared the shit out of me because the sound and rumbling was the last thing I expected in the moment.
    5) When Panoramic Roof is opened, SOMETIMES you will get that annoying whooshing noise (As if only the rear windows were open in the car)
    PROS:
    1) Comfortable drive. Leather package is also nice.
    2) Panoramic roof was beautifully done.
    3) Spacious. Back+Front seat comfortably sat a friend of mine who is 6'2"
    4) In each drive mode (ex: Eco/Drive/Sport/etc.) you can notice a different attitude from the car. 'Sport' actually does feel stiffer and everything is more responsive.
    5) With its puny horsepower, it can still keep up with older 3 series and Infiniti G's. (in Sport mode)
    6) The CITY mileage may be a bit... iffy, but HIGHWAY mileage is amazing.
    Let me know if any of you have experience similar problems (and if anyone interested in the car has any questions!)

    I read a lot of comments here and elsewhere about power being insufficient. Keep it in sport mode! I've had mine for about a thousand miles and it gets the same 23 mpg at the pump as it did in normal mode in city driving. It has more horsepower and torque than than most of its 4 cylinder competitors. The power is right off idle at 1600 rpm which makes it very responsive.

    • @DrNemmo
      @DrNemmo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I drive all the time in Eco mode, but I pull the shift lever back to go into sport mode to accelerate after a stop sign. Once I get to the desired speed I pull back again to go into eco mode. Power when you need it, gas savings the rest of the day.

    Good to see a full size man in a car review so the average guy can compare to himself. A lot of the car review channels are smaller short guys around 120 to 140 pounds. Nothing against them but this guy is the size of the average man and it’s a nice change to see. Good video overall

    The R Line here in New Zealand is a model on it’s own and as part of the spec you get the Golf GTi motor at 165kw and 350nm of torque or a bi-Turbo diesel at 176kw and 500nm of torque.
    We also have the option of a shorter version 5 seater but that’s only with the petrol engine

    I bought this on April 9th and I’m really happy with it. Like a couple dozen reviews here suggest it would be a blast with more power! But this Tiguan is smooth & refined and a pleasure on the highway. No real complaints from me at this point but I would have paid another $500 for cooled front seats. And a locking glovebox would be a nice bonus. Center console storage is adequate but not large. And I would love a sliding and ratcheting elevation armrest. The oil changes are recommended every 10k miles.

    FYI if you have a black or white Tiguan and you want to give it a more athletic look, take a look at the extended spoiler. They come in black or white colors only (color matches exactly to Tiguan paint). I saw a white Tiguan R Line that was blacked out with black rims and black mirrors so when they did the black extended spoiler it was sharp. I have a black Tiguan exactly like this video except my interior is the grey stone. The spoiler is over $300.00 and that's not including the $149.00 installation charges, however; at many VW dealerships it's currently on sale, I got my spoiler installed for a total price of 318.00 including installing. If you have other colors it seems to me it would be hard to have it painted to match your vehicle color (example habanero orange).

    The lack of power is disappointing but consistent with SUVs of this level and beyond. The styling the luxury is way above its price point and I think it kills the competition Honda, Mazda or Toyota’s etc The only thing I feel blows this away would be the RDX which is roughly 8000 more. Even saying that I feel this has a classier look

    I’m a big VW fan and have owned 10 so far, mostly Beetles, but I had a 1971 411 and a 2010 Tiguan...I absolutely loved that car, it ranks as one my favourites. I would just tap the gas and that thing took off. The trunk was a little small with the rear seats in place, but it was tall, and the actual back seat was huge.
    The pep and responsiveness in my Tiguan and also my current VW, a 2018 Golf are what makes them so much fun to drive. I’ve looked but cannot find why in the NoG did VW REDUCE the power in these two cars in 2019? The Tiguan by 20 hp (same engine I think) and 40hp in the Golf Did they want the Tiguan to run on regular gas? I haven’t driven either yet but I love my Golf, but I can’t help but think 40 less hp would really change the driving experience and now I’m sure if I’d buy it again. Why Volkswagen, why?

    • @DeniJasmina

      Ian Forsyth Less HP better emissions better fuel economy. Nobody in the US needs all that power on a passenger car, where average speed driven is 40mph. Torque is what you need and that we get more with every new model coming out.

    I love my Volkswagen Tiguan SE. I am convinced it is the greatest consumer car on the market in the U.S. (IMO). This was/is my first car and I have to say its GREAT for a first time driver. Especially since I started driving at 26 instead of the normal 16 years old.
    Am I the only one who likes the start/stop feature? I guess I am cheap and want to save gas. :)

    I don’t understand how the GTI’s 2.0L is available in the Atlas but not this in the R trim. I test drove one and the power train was the only negative. It would be an automatic buy for us if the power train had more to it. I wouldn’t feel comfortable passing other vehicles on single lane roads.

      @solid1378 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@qunticoqamiroquai1620 That's good news, thanks! In the US, they probably won't raise the price. There is very stiff competition in this segment of the market, with some manufacturers like Honda, Hyundai and Toyota outclassing the Tiguan. Competition is a good thing in keeping prices in check, while getting more features. 😀

    VW is similar to Audi with the model codes (VW Group owns both companies and many more) You have VW R line like Audi S Line where you have the more athletic aesthetics (sportier rims, lower sports front bumpers, R Line/S Line badging, etc). No change in performance, appearance package only. The VW R and Audi S, are performance changes for example the Golf R or the Audi S4 or S6. I know that VW was showing off a Tiguan R that's built for speed with a high performance engine.

    • @Agent77X

      VW marketing is copying the Toyota FT 86/Subaru BRZ marketing promotions trying to sell power and speed by hyping brakes, two tone seats, special badges, limited colors, limited editions and increasing power by 2 hp and 3 lbs. more torque for their future promotions along with a test drive routine that optimize Tiguan’s characteristics!

      Merging on to the highway from stop is not a smooth sailing. once you get up speed is nice and smooth. sport mode makes it a little better but it could be a little too sensitive on the accelerator. fuel economy could be a lot better. i'm averaging 17 mpg mostly city driving and 28 on highway. I have close to 700 miles driven and have fill up three times already on regular, A little over 200 miles per tank is not too good for a 4cyl. My last car Mazda cx9 averaged about that with a 3.7v6. I hope it gets better over time. other than that is a nice and comfortable car. I don't know if is my car or my expectations but front collision assist and rear traffic alert is not always accurate or doesn't work but I can't trust it. i wish the complete safety suit was included in the lower trims.

    I have the 2019 Tiguan exact same in the video but I have the stone grey interior. I keep asking a question no one seems to know. The 2018 Tiguan with panoramic sunroof ambient lighting was recalled by VW due to humidity that could cause a shortage or fire. VW dealerships disable the lighting free of charge until they can find a fix. Now we get to the 2019, I assumed that VW would disable all new models from the factory since they have a ongoing issue that haven't been fixed yet. If you have a 2019 and if you slide your glass sunroof back, you can clearly see the ambient lighting strips yet in your ambient lighting adjustment there is no option for the sunroof. VW doesn't seem to know because my VIN number shows no recalls, but even they admitted my ambient lighting should be on. Anyone else with this issue?

      iFranco i traded in my VW diesel Passat on my new Tiquan. The Passat was a Great car, great mileage, great cruiser, very reliable. VW is improving on it’s reliability, it is about mid pack now. Repairs on the Tiguan are easily accessible from underneath, rated among the best. Great ride, good handling, comfortable, good low end power, but not so much power at freeway speed. I expect this car will be reliable. The VW diesels were among the longest mileage cars in North America. Lots of them still running.
