    Sat in the back of a 3rd row tiguan. Definitely not comfy but surprisingly more room then expected. In a pinch if you move the middle row up which has alot of leg room at 6'2 I could manage for a short trip. So if your on the fence your better off getting the 3rd row for those times you got more people then seats.

    I hear a lot of complaints about the VW Tiguan, from not enough horsepower to no air condition seats to no LED headlights on all models. The fact is; VW and VW group can do all those things because they own Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc. Most car brands don't offer full LED DRL, AC seats nor performance engines on lower level trims including Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Mazda, Ford, GM, etc. VW of America has proven they can bring top tech and luxury to a VW but it would be a failure; the VW Phaeton proved that. This is also why you don't see the all new expensive VW Toureg in North America (in my opinion the best looking Toureg ever exterior and interior). Consumers at a VW dealership are looking for a bargain; to stay within a reasonable price range. For VW group it's a balancing act, to show some tech and luxury but don't cross into Audi territory; show some performance but don't cross into Porsche territory. VW means the people's car and in North America the legendary VW Beetle was one of the most inexpensive dependable mid-engine vehicles for decades. I think VW feel if you're willing to pay over 40,000 or 50,000 for a SUV or sedan you should be on a Audi or Porsche lot.

    In the rest of the world you can buy it with the same engine as the GTI and 7 speed DSG. That's what this R-Line should have here in North America!

      @@PALERMO-1982, What country do you live in? Are you from Europe? I didn't own my DSG CC for too long, 3 years, but I didn't have one problem with it. I probably didn't own it long enough. In North America a problem the DSG had that I read about was because people and dealers were not properly maintaining the transmission. It usually cost more money for the consumer and dealers were not always properly trained. I'm wondering how it is in Europe?

    • @unintentionallyfire
      @unintentionallyfire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cause most Americans don't know how to drive a DSG properly and keep riding the brake. It also doesn't help that most VW's in America with the electric parking brake don't come with auto hold, ensuring the clutch is disengaged at a stop.
      The DSGs in the 2.0l Tiguans are the wet clutch ones, which are on par with normal torque converter automatics for reliability, when maintained. The dry clutch DQ200 7 speed was unreliable in older models to be fair, but most issues with that DSG have been ironed out.

    Great review as always. I think I still take the RAV-4, that 2.5 in new Camry is very peppy. I also hate those exhaust outlets. What the ... is VW thinking? May be they are still embrassed with the dieselgate and don’t want their tailpipes to look black 😁 otherwise the interior is really right on and won’t look dated.

Do you have to have the heated steering wheel at the same time? If so how hot does the steering wheel get. I like to turn the steering wheel off separately as it often gets too hot in my vehicle after it has warmed up completely.

    I have a 2012 VW Tiguan Highline 2.0T 4Motion; and to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't upgrade to the current model.
    If I wanted to upgrade, I would go straight to the Atlas... either the Highline, or Execline trims.
    The 2012 Highline is like a luxury tank. Nothing seems to stop it, or slow it down. (Except, maybe lack of fuel... which I haven't had any problems with) It has an excellent balance of HP/Torque; and whether I'm traveling on the highway, unimproved roads, or offroad, as long as I have the right tyres, it ploughs through anything. (No, I don't take it mudding!!!!) I live in the Toronto area; and travel the same roads in this video. I've taken it on a road trip through the USA. It's up to the task.
    If I wanted more room, I would go straight to the Atlas. Seriously! Btw, I'm 6'6" tall; and my wife (who's Chinese) is barely 5'2".

    • @ColdStart
      @ColdStart  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mick Psyphon we tried the first Gen of the Tiguan too. It IS a luxury tank but I honestly felt that the torque of the 19 Tiguan came in a lot quicker than the first Gen. The third row is spacious enough for toddlers at best. The atlas would be a bit pricey imo but it’s a great looking vehicle and packs a comfortable third row seating.
      Thanks for watching Mick!

      Chris Dallas Dualped I purchased a 2019, but I think it’s more handsome than CR-V or Rav-4 or the previous model or Ford Escape etc. the price was well below retail but the Tiguan feels more expensive than it is. I don’t have any issues with power, it’s not super fast off the like button the torque is available all the way through the RPM band. I couldn’t be more pleased, no regrets. I drove a Nissan Murano recently and I was extremely pleased to get back into the Tiguan. Everything is so smooth in the Tiguan. All my passengers comment on how smooth it feels and how well the switch gear feel. It seems the complainers haven’t spent much time giving it a chance. There is no perfect vehicle but it does so many cool things. And it has the best Bumper to Bumper warranty in the auto industry. It’s very solid and isn’t over styled. The infotainment system is by far the best I’ve used. I’m loving the 8 inch glass screen.

      Thank you. Well I think it’s classy & understated and I just couldn’t make friends with the storm trooper awkward lines and frowning front grill of the Rav-4. I drove the favorites in the segment at least 4 times a piece and something was off: then drive to VW in a Rav-4 not expecting to like the Tiguan but wanted to mark it off my list to be thorough. Well I simply loved everything about it and it drove great and I told the salesman let’s make a deal! I’ve never walked in and made a car purchasing decision so quickly. It’s masculine too. The CR-V is feminine and has ugly plastic wood trim inside and a very awkward gear selector, a CVT, and gas getting in the oil engine problems now. The Rav-4 was painfully slow with an ugly 1980’s looking tacked on infotainment screen. Plus those other 2 were so expensive and didn’t come with a 3rd row seat like I got.
