In Todays Video I'll be comparing every single Devil Trigger in the Devil May Cry Games to find out which entry has the best one by looking at all of them starting from the first Devil May Cry's Devil Trigger DMC2 Dante and Lucia DTs including Majin DT, Dante & Vergil's DMC3 DT, DMC4 Dante, Nero, Trish, Vergil Devil Trigger Devil May Cry 5 Dante, Vergil, Nero Devil Trigger plus V's Nightmare so I'll be judging them based on the following categories.
-Design
-Health
-Hyper Armor
-Damage
-Moveset
I'm going relatively indepth on this one so hopefully you'll get something out of it OR if you already knew about all this stuff before going in then I hope you enjoy the video if I missed anything out feel free to let me know down in the comments below

My personal favorite Devil Trigger is Vergil’s Sin Devil Trigger because of two things. 1. It’s basically just normal Vergil but you get health back, you’re quicker, and you do more damage which allows you to murder everyone and their dog in a 50 mile radius. 2. I just like blue flames.
That's why SDT Vergil won the championship title
The only thing holding Vergils SDT appearance back for me is the folded up wings on him, they cause a lot of visual clutter and unnecessary model clipping which I could excuse if they served any form of gameplay function, even something small like glide or flight like Dante's DT and SDT would be fine, but since they don't the model would only improve from their removal imo.
@@bubbajoe117 i mean,they have a function when you fight him,and since Vergil was a boss and then turned into a playable character the devs missed this out and the opportunity to have him do maybe do a "nuke" attack with beowulf (im trippin but this would be the shit)

To be fair to Trish' DT design, she is a demon created in the IMAGE of Eva. So her True Form is her "Human" form.

@@CurayziDante one of the things they got right in the game are them Devil Triggers
I also think DMC3 DT designs are the best. The lore reasoning for each Devil Arm giving the twins (especially Dante) unique DT forms is also interesting - basically, the twins haven't matured their DT forms entirely, so the Devil Arms have greater influence when equipped. By the time each brother has matured their base DT form, the Devil Arms have little to no influence anymore. Vergil, as someone who almost exclusively uses Yamato, matured his DT form into just a refined version of his DMC3 form. Dante, however, clearly matured his DT form into an amalgamation of his various styles and Devil Arms. Nerd moment lol.
Lore wise it's pretty damn interesting and makes alot of senses since especially Dante is still getting used to Devil Trigger

And Beowulf increases both vergil and Dante hyper armour when holding it in DT

As far as visual design Nero's DT in 5 is the coolest looking DT by far. Like its not even close, such a dope design.

And that is while V's Devil Trigger doesn't regenerate his HP, he can still get health back, Supposedly one of V's Abilitys makes it to where when he Activates Devil Trigger there is a Higher Chance for Enemies to drop Green Orbs, granted You'll almost never notice this come into effect.
Also You should do a Tier List of all of Dante's Costumes from every Devil may cry game

Trish is playable in DMC 2 as well, and her DT is actually on par with Majin's in terms of aerial ranged damage. Her aerial ranged attack is a 5 hit combo, with each hit in the combo dealing ever more damage to the point where the final hit actually deals MORE damage than Majins basic ranged attacks and at a faster clip too (to the point of dealing 50%+ damage to some BOSSES on normal with the final hit alone).
Need to play around with DMC 2 Trish a bit more

About the movesets: DMC5 Vergils Judgment Cut END, Hell on Earth and Deep Stinger can ALL be used in human form, they are NOT DT Exlusives. However, they use up less DT Energy when used in DT, so there is that. I am also surprised you did not mention Vergils "Doppelgänger" which is his regular DT for this game. Also the Sparda Devil Trigger in DMC1 (Yes, it can only be used in the final Boss fight, but still it has some unique moves and design to it. Also, you can use YAMATO in DMC1 if you unlock the Legendary Dark Knight Costume, which will work like Alastor, but when using DT it will transform you into SPARDA, not just the appereance of Dante, but Yamato TURNS into Sparda, giving the Alastor Moves extended Reach and some of the SParda unique trades like the spear form during stinger and the Scythe during round trip etc.)

Well The Vergil super moves can be pulled off in his human form but it drains the SDT Guage that's why I considered it a DT exclusive I didn't mention the Sparda DT at the end of DMC 1 because that's extremely short lived it would have been nice if it was included in new game plus

dt's in 3 have differnt properties based on weapon and if you use nevan it actually gives reasonably good life regeneration
I think I should play around with the DTs in 3 a bit more
@@Devil-Joe cerberus gives you more atack speed, rebellion is middle of a road, agni/rudra - amplify damage, Beowulf - damage and also gives you more damage mitigation and as I mentioned before, nevan - more hp regen

I never played DMC 2 or paid attention to its reputation, but i gotta say i like Lucia's angel form. I guess she was the catalyst to the angel forms for DMC4.
If Capcom ever decides to rebuild one of thier old games from the ground up amd add more to it, i would like to see DMC2 get it, and boost Lucia's moveset and abilities.

Literally the only thing that would be fitting for competition in regards to all the DT forms would be who has the biggest bakery since in all of them have a quite huge cake in the behind . . . I mean am I wrong?? It is already obvious all of them have quite the incredible designs and are quite powerful in terms of story narrative plot and also in gameplay so pretty much no competition except who has the biggest sexiest bakery

Talking about regeneration, in dmc3 if you use nevan in dante normal skin dt your life regenerates much, much faster, i think it's the better regen factor of all dmc games, you can put into test later on

I'd like to share something with you.
This isn't about DMC specifically, but on the topics of Special Forms/Devil Triggers, late last year had the release of a hack-and-slash/character action game called Soulstice that goes in *quite ambitiously* with its takes on a Devil Trigger. Or Triggers, rather. I recommend looking stuff up about it, it's a pretty good title and good first really *big* production by its studio.
Does some stuff like mixing the Style Meter with a Special Meter to choose between giving ending a combo with an enhanced Finisher, or enter the temporary Rapture (Devil Trigger equivalent) state instead.
And from *there* you can choose to let the Rapture end normally, or perform a Rapture finisher that uses up more of the Special Meter.
There's also a kind of DMC Stance system equivalent, in a pretty substantial -- not GIANT and percentage based, but *substantial*-- skill tree, that governs which of the four Rapture Finishers you perform. Balanced, Trickery, Chaos and Mastery.
And using a Rapture Finisher can also have a lasting effect for a little while, such as healing on hitting enemies, leaving behind exploding crystals, or less/no penalty to the Special Meter.
I took about twenty minutes to describe it in detail, but then figured that looking up a short video to give you an idea of what Soulstice has to offer may be better. So here goes.

This video doesn't even show everything yet. In a quite big update that came out about nine months after Soulstice's release, a customizable training room and something *else* affecting a Devil Trigger/Special state was added.
Really hope it makes you interested! It's very much worth spreading the word about.
Otherwise, perhaps the upcoming Genokids and Enenra may be more interesting to you. Or Hi-Fi Rush from early this year.

Awesome Video I Never Played The First 3 Devil May Cry Games Because I Started On 4 With A Box A Random Games I Found One Day I Always Thought The Stand Was A Pretty Cool Concept And Decent Damage Dealer But HOLY HELL DMC 2 IS NUTS Obviously Other Than 5 I Never Imagined Capcom Making OP DTs But Sheeeeshhhhh Lore Wise It Makes Sense That DMC 2 DTs Are Busted For The First 3 Games Then He's God In DMC 4 And Finally A Devil King In DMC 5
Lore wise for the DMC Trillogy that would make sense with the current cannon I recommend playing Devil May Cry 3 that game is really where it's at
No love for the Sparda DTs and Nelo Angelo? Very fun video to watch though! I have a soft spot for DMC4 DTs but DMC5 is just that much more polished and Sin DT is just too much fun. I forgot how fun Trish DT was as well!
Unpopular opinion:Personally I don't like the design for Vergil's DT form in DMC 5. First the over the top jagged design simply doesn't fit his personality and style of fighting. It does fit with Dante's actual over the top personality and his show off nature and way of fighting put not Vergil's cool, cold and collected persona. In my opinion Vergil's final true demon form should have been more tonned down and look somewhere between Nero's DT design and Urizen's final form, but without all the extra eyes, all the horns and instead of Nero's angelic features, a callback to the order of Sparda, Vergil's could have some ethereal elements/features since in that game Vergil's attacks are visually complemented with ghost like ethereal effects.
Then there's the World of V thing. V's familiars are supposed to be manifestations of Vergils trauma from when he became Nelo Angelo and effectively Mundus slave. They should permanently disappear after Dante, Vergil's more human brother, beat them and thus riding Vergil of his trauma. Having them return for that one "special" move kinda implies that a) he's trauma is still there and that b) both V and Urizen can still return and thus risking making that character progression meaningless.
My fanmade solution to that is to have Vergil, on the fanmade form I gave earlier, be able to summon two "demon shadows/henchmen", kinda like he summons spectral weapons, one with Beowulf's powers and an appearance that is a mix of Vergil's dt and Beowulf's and another demon dual wielding swords just like Vergil sometimes double wields the Yamato and Force Edge in combat while Vergil himself, in his true demon form, fights exclusively with the very "human made looking" Yamato. This would serve as a nod to Vergil reintegrating his humanity by a) the previously mention sdt description, his use of a human like weapon and the fact that he can summon demons just like his human half V; and b) him being able to summon demons would also serve as a nod at his powers as a pseudo demon king since his new powers came from consuming the same apple that gave birth to the last demon king.
DMC2's devil triggers are so OP that's why 2 is the only game without a Super Dante or Super Lucia outfit.
If DMC2 had super costumes the game would get severaly busted

DMC1 Armor type, DMC3 base ones and Shin Devil triggers are my personal favorite.
DMC3 had some kick ass designs
about Vegil's SDT, there's some more things you probably forgot about to mention (or I'm just deaf). Im talking about Rapid Slash spam that sends Mirage blades from up while hit, finisher of Yamato Combo B (that short one), he does some frontflip slash and sends mirage blades after.
Shit I forgot to mention the insanity know as Rapid Slash spams using summon swords as a part of the move I need to test out combo c for myself

It would have been nice if that was implemented into DMC5 design wise I liked the 100% DMC3 faithfulness of the whole thing
what i think would've been cool, is if that design was used for vergil's doppelganger since it uses the dt gauge, would've kept the design from going unused, i think there's actually a couple mods on nexus that do this (albeit with the dmc4 dt, but it's still cool)
While V's dt doesn't heal himself it increases the chances for green orbs somehow. And when Vergil use World of V it immediately heals himself.
I heard about Nightmare giving Vergil more green orbs while killing enmies using nightmare

If we are simply talking about which game has the most powerful DT then sure it's DMC5 Sin DT. but if we are talking about which game has the best Designed and Balanced DT then it's DMC1 and it isn't even a contest. DMC1 is fundamentally built around DT as a gameplay tool, to the point DMD mode removes DT healing and only leaves you with using DT strategically instead of as a crutch. Every other DMC game DT is simply a power boost you don't actually need until you get to the tankier DMD mode enemies, and in DMC5 Sin DT trivializes the game.
In way I think if Kamiya moved forward with the series DT would have been like the DMC1 DT
DMC 2 super devil trigger which was used if you had low hp, blew my mind when I first saw it

Really good video, but doesn't Vergil have access to judgment cut end, hell on earth and deep stinger in his base form in DMC5? Also Lucia has a move called Divine Anger (i think) in DT where she shoot a bunch of energy orbs into the air infront of her, or she can rain them down like meteors when using air raid. Im also surprised you didn't talk about the Sparda Devil trigger from the Mundus boss fight, its energy dragon is easily the coolest move in the series.
The Lucia Energy beams are something that I might need to look into but the Sparda DT I didn't cover because you don't get to spend too much time with it you only fight Mundus using it they should have had it accessible in New Game Plus in my opinion for the fun of it Vergil can pull off JCE hell on earth Deep Stinger using base form but it depletes the SDT Guage
The moves you listed for Vergil can be used 2 or 3 times in SDT 1 time outside, and I think if you do the moves in SDT they do more damage

Well I was trying to say that Nightmare looks like a mix between the venom symbiote and Cannonbolt from Ben 10 you head most it right my guy it might have been the work related after stress feel
One of the hidden details about Devil Trigger is that in the 3rd game, every sword that Dante and Vergil equips and switches to gives them different details and not just the design. Dante with his Rebellion onkt gives him a power boost and speed boost. Cerberus gives Dante an elemental ice attack and this can be seen in un the 5th game when Dante enters DT and he attacks with King Cerberus. Agni and Rudra form gives Dante fire and wind which is 2 elemental attack. Nevans gives Dante arial attack and flight mode and not to forget but Nevans on the PC, PS4 and XBOX ONE version the Nevans DT doubles uo your healing speed so if you aee low health you can switch to Nevans and health before switch out or removing Nevans from your equipment. Beowulf would be my favorite as you enter DT with Beowulf Dante gets a 50% or 60% defense and take less damage.
Better play around with the DTs in 3 to find out for myself
A nice job man, top shelf for sure you did miss a few, includinga certain father/grandpa.
First and foremost, the doppelganger from DMC 3 and DMC5 for Vergil, it uses the normal guage and assist for a two person smackdown.
DMC4, Lady's grenade cluster technically doesn't count as she's human, but it feels wrong to not mention it, plus it's a bloody spectical in every sense of the word.
DmC reboot Dante and Vergil... yeah I'm not talking much about these two... it's neat that you can slow down time and launch guys I guess, yeah let's just move on to the main course l.
And finally, the one who technically started it all, the legendary dark knight himself, while a reskin for the final boss only, in DMC 1 to DMC 4 Dante can take his father's image against Mundus or a special costume after beating DMD, blasting the king of hell with sigils or transforming into am massive demonic dragon to slam into his foe.
Most of the time the Sparda DT functions alot like Dantes DT so it's only an asthetic change but I'll get to it in a video about ulockable content in DMC
I really like the sin devil trigger with design and abilities and i also like dmc 3 and 4 designs lastly i like majin and normal devil trigger of dmc2 i do agree the gun hands are weird but the rest of its design is cool dante still having a human form as if he was only using a little bit of his demonic power

i couldnt agree more on the list, the only way to make this video better was playing that first part of vergil's theme, DMC 5 is not my favorite game but god, vergil's theme alone makes the game 13/10, and for every protagonist the style options are limitless, i think the only crime of this game is not making lady and trish playable as well, they had no business being playable in DMC 4 and were fun, i would like seeing them here as well given how good the combat is
When it comes to DMC5 Lady and Trish should have been DLC it would have been fun to play as them in a mini story campaign
Some facts you probably don’t know
1: Dante’s Majin Form in DMC2 looks somewhat similar to Nelo Angelo
2: Trish is in DMC2 (you have to beat the game in hard mode to get her)
3: When you turn Devil Trigger as Trish she puts her glasses on in both DMC2 and DMC4
I do know of playable Trish in DMC2 after beating hard mode but the DMC Majin DT looking like Nelo Angelo is a new concept for me

I don't really like Vergil's DT designs, not because they look bad but because they look demonic and brutal and imo Vergil is at his best when he looks regal. And especially with the Yamato I really don't think the design fits the character.
His STD in DMC5 actually looks the best because it looks more like a demonic samurai, but that one has the Yamato be a part of his body and I really don't like that.
Dante's, meanwhile, work perfectly with both his character and the Rebellion. And when he gets his SDT and Devil Sword Dante it really comes together, especially with how the sword both fits with the design of both forms(looking suitably demonic) and is clearly summoned from his power while still being a separate item to him.
Overall I think Dante's DT works much better than Vergil's. Admittedly I might be biased because the moment Dante got a demonic motorcycle that transforms into twin chainsaws I decided Vergil was never going to be as cool as him.
Believe it or not, DMC3s Devil Triggers (At least Dantes) DO actually give you some buffs! The buff in question is tied to the Devil Arm you have equipped at the time! (I actually did not know this originally..DMC3 has a lot of special hidden mechanics and quirks the game does not tell you about.)
Rebellion Gives all your stats a small boost (well rounded)
Cerberus Boosts your attack speed (So long as Cerberus is what you are hitting with)
Agni and Rudra increase your physical power the most, and further enhance the Elemental Attack power (Yes, elemental weaknesses exist in DMC3, another hidden mechanic)
Nevan boosts the potency of the regen you get in DT (and lets you fly, but you covered that part)
Last but not least Beowulf gives you increased Defense!
Sorry the post is kinda long, but i thought this stuff was all worth pointing out, hell you could probably do an entire video JUST on DMC3 and all its unique mechanics the other games dont have!

I think the reason why Trish didn't get a DT form is probably cuz lore wise, Mundus created her to just look like a human. She is a full blooded demon but Mundus created her appearance to just be like that for the sole purpose of fucking with Dante and Trish probably can't do anything about it because her appearance is probably permanent.
Makes sense but a she Devil look would have been cool
In terms of hud my personal favorite DT is DMC1 because I love the Japanese symbols.

If were talking gameplay wise the very first one since you gain dt guage so fast and it lasts a long time which is why future instalments take longer to build the guage and deplete much faster

@@Devil-Joe Second to that would be the Sparda DT in main game dmc1. I use "Ps2 devil may cry tool" that patches the ps2 iso and allows you to use the deviltrigger you use against Mundus, the entire game. It's completely insane. It's stupid op.
My bro you missed Vergil's SDT Rapid slash turns him into anime. If you spam it on his SDT, it will endlessly just teleport him to enemies until you stop pressing it, I think its present on dmc 4 as well

I actually think DMC1 DT exclusive moves are better than the DMC4 ones. Nero gets some excellent new moves (obviously), but Dante feels basically the same. Kick 13 takes way too long to execute in DMC4 DT, so you just expose yourself to getting hit on higher difficulties or BP. DT Stinger and instant charge shots are nice I guess, but all of DMC 1’s new moves are extremely unique and useful.
Well DMC1 made the exclusive moves more meaningful
DMC2 has the best DT for the sole reason that it makes your guns even stronger so you can get through the godforsaken game faster

Design wise DMC3 had the best idea on how Devil Trigger was used. The form literally changed based on melee equipped. Vergil even had that going on. I wish they kept it like that moving forward. In terms of just pure aesthetic the cut DT form for Vergil in DMC5. I'd love to have seen it fully visualized. But doppelganger I guess. Though idk why they didn't just apply doppelganger to his DT

Always find it funny when people hate devil may cry 2 but love 1. 1 has the same awkward camera angles and if you grew up in the ps1 era like me that was normal. Devil may cry 1 is limited and harder. Devil may cry 2 came with everything but the evolutions of devil triggers, I could pull off badass combos, the controls were straight forward, I don’t understand how the story was any different in style then 1. I beat them both 30 times when I was a kid. Hating on devil may cry 2 is like hating on one of your shoe laces that’s on par with the other 3. Devil may cry 3 is my favorite or was before 5 came out. Hell I even didint mind the reboot, I liked the combo system. Awkward camera angles are to expect from old school 3D games they were still figuring it out after all DMC 1 left an overall better impression than DMC 2 did but it's for the reasons of the 1st game having a clearer direction and a better tone for the story (mainly Dante's personality) DMC2 on the other hand made things too easy despite the game having some cool combos that you can pull off even the plot has some good ideas but the execution leaves so many things to be desired

Actually, a little cool fact and devil may cry three each of the weapons devil triggers that you get has a perk going on that you didn’t know about Cerberus gives you the fastest movement, speed Nevin gives you the fastest regeneration fail, gives you the most defense stats and Agni and Rudra gives you the highest elemental stats, so you forgot to add those for the devil may cry three devil triggers

I'd say Majin Form power wise if it wasn't retconned. My personal favorite would have been if Nero had got the Devil Bringer back and his DT was his DMC4 DT but actually materialized like Dante and Vergil's, and he should have gotten the Yamato back too. Dante got a new sword. Vergil should have too.

0:03 Not actually accurate to the lore. All Demons, including Artificial Demons like the Angelos, can DT. Only Half-Demons like Dante physically alter form when they do it, however.

Dmc 2 gets way too much hate, yeah its not a good DMC game but its like a solid action game, a 5.5/10 when not looking at it as a dmc game but its a 10/10 in my book cause a game developed in 4 months in the early 2000's shouldn't be playable, they did their best with what they had, i bet if they remake DMC 2 it would be the best in the series
A Devil May Cry 2 can surpass all the other DMC games is they looked at the series as a whole and thought about how to improve it

The fact is dante sdt actually feels more like a sdt than Vergil sdt because vergil sdt just gives a feeling of vergil standard dt but with better graphics and few new moves.
Makes sense one you think about it but Vergil's SDT is slightly more powerful than the other standard DTs that he got
Vergil has more control for his SDT form than Dante thats why it ferls like normal and why would u change perfection every vergil move is perfection anyway. Vergil's SDT outdamages every Dante SDT move and provides regeneration and is better. Vergil SDT>>>Dante SDT.
@@Darkslayer1993 umm.. Vergil super moves have limitations though. Eg: Hell on earth damage depends on distance, judgement cut end does less damage than Dante sdt judgement, and last super move looks like Vergil has suddenly turned himself into some kind of Beyblade which just looks weird for me. Plus hell on earth is even non canon because lore wise Vergil doesn't have Beowulf anymore and so it is just there for his gameplay.
Whereas all Dante's sdt moves are his super moves and does a great deal of damage without any limitations. Eg: Demolition instantly kills most of the lower enemies except bosses in DMD where Vergil sdt will have to do multiple hell on earths on those same enemies to eliminate them.
Dante sdt wing attack (Luce/ombra maybe) does a shit ton of damage and it's damage doesn't reduce with distance.
Dante's judgement is like a good super finisher move which one can use anytime in sdt even when the sdt bar is almost empty and it's range is much more than Vergil sdt JCE. Atleast in gameplay.
Dante sdt can move at hyper speed and dodge at hyper speed which is something we don't often see with Vergil sdt in gameplay.
I could've said more but I think this is enough elaboration.
