As funny as Monsoon's dialogue regarding 'memes' is in the current internet culture, I'd like to remind everyone that the word 'meme' comes from anthropology (around 1980) as a term to describe 'a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices', in a similar fashion to genes in biology. My tactic for the whole game was to literally just heavy slash everyone, even the civilians. I've found out that those attacks dont work on monsoon when it took me literally 20 goddamn minutes of me just slashing away without thinking and going monke brain with the music
Trust me, I just finished the Mistral/Monsoon/Sundowner fights on the highest difficulty without getting damaged (for achievements). After 100-200 resets during each Boss I almost went crazy (except Mistral but especially during the Monsoon Fight), because of my own stupidity and impatience. Most of the resets were within the first 3-5 seconds due the fact that the AI fucks with me very often, same goes for the Jetstream Sam fight (which I am currently working on). Man, the dude sometimes stops mid charge and goes full load after that. Makes me unable to predict and dodge or counter his attacks. And if I hadn't watched someone else doing those fights with certain gimmicks, I would still be struggling more than before. It's just so frustrating sometimes, when you've the boss on low hp, miss one counter/dodge and get hit.

My tactic for the whole game was to literally just heavy slash everyone, even the civilians. I've found out that those attacks dont work on monsoon when it took me literally 20 goddamn minutes of me just slashing away without thinking and going monke brain with the music

Trust me, I just finished the Mistral/Monsoon/Sundowner fights on the highest difficulty without getting damaged (for achievements).
After 100-200 resets during each Boss I almost went crazy (except Mistral but especially during the Monsoon Fight), because of my own stupidity and impatience.
Most of the resets were within the first 3-5 seconds due the fact that the AI fucks with me very often, same goes for the Jetstream Sam fight (which I am currently working on).
Man, the dude sometimes stops mid charge and goes full load after that. Makes me unable to predict and dodge or counter his attacks.
And if I hadn't watched someone else doing those fights with certain gimmicks, I would still be struggling more than before.
It's just so frustrating sometimes, when you've the boss on low hp, miss one counter/dodge and get hit.
My tactic was... equipping medic suit to double the heals and praying.
@@DioZMio Pro tip for Sam, you can skip fists by baiting the easiest attack to perfect-parry in the game twice in a row while in Ripper-mode, skipping the whole fight.
MGR is the perfect example of gameplay first story later and I’m personally glad about it.
The fact the cutting mechanics haven’t been used again in a game that I know of is honestly a tragedy.
There's Hardspace: Shipbreaker where you use cutting mechanics to disassemble spaceships for recycling. It's not as cool but still pretty fun.
I absolutely will add it in all games I can feasibly fit it into, after I learn how to code it.

I love how Jetstream Sam is toying with you and making it look easy, then it's revealed he's almost all human and his DLC missions are much harder. Implying that he's actually an underdog and he merely got gud.
To be fair to Raiden though the one part of him that wasn't was the arm he was swinging his sword with. That was way higher grade than the old style cyborg body Raiden was using at that point.
Having a weakness/limitation is actually something that can make you stronger, as counter intuitive as it sounds.
I mean Kojima on twitter flat out said that Sam could win againts Armstrong if he just stay out his range and waiting him to run out his Nanomachines energy.
Sam's armor does provide a bit of extra strength and speed, but not anywhere near even Raiden's old body.
