    Very happy TH-cam suggested your video to me. Subscribed and looking forward to exploring your video catalog to learn as much as I can. Great looking final product and very helpful to know all the shortcomings of these kits.

    Very nice work. I did not realize the Salvinos kit so many issues. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

      I believe it's mainly this first "in house" kit they did and the others are not too bad. Still builds into a nice model :)

    Orange Peel is generally caused by too thick a layer of paint being applied and it drying before it can level itself out fully. Do two light coats first, then let it dry. Once it has dried, come back on with a slightly heavier coat and it should be much smoother with no orange peel.
    Great video by the way! :)

      Thanks for the info, I'll try not to be so impatient in future :p lol
      Not worth adding retarder/self-levelling thinner to the SMS paint, or might that over-thin it?

    • @thescalemodellerssupply
      @thescalemodellerssupply ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@wixy500retarder will also help. If you use our Leveller, just use 10% ratio (so 1ml of Leveller per 10ml of paint) and it will help slow down the drying time and allow the paint to level out.

      Don't be sorry, it still builds a decent model! Good luck for when it's time to start yours.

    The rims are incorrect on these first issue kits. The Cup cars were using the 9 hole rims, not the 5 hole slotted.

    • @wixy500
      @wixy500  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did not not use the 5-slotters. The kit included rims with 8-holes, so I used those as they looked a bit closer to correct.

    What a great job- nice work!- Did you say you have had problems with Tamiya clear over Salvinos decals? What clear did you use? Thanks, ct

    • @wixy500
      @wixy500  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used Mr Hobby Premium Top Coat on this one. Yes, I've had Tamiya TS13 melt Salvinos decals. I did use the TS13 over the Zero silver, but that was totally dry before any decals went on.

    I want to know more how you got the chrome off the parts

    • @wixy500
      @wixy500  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just soaked them in hydrochloric acid for about a week. Might do a video about it.

      @@wixy500 I would love to see a video. So that way I know what kind to get. How long to soak it. I’m sure others would have questions

    • @wixy500
      @wixy500  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@heidihobear I've just started making a vid about it, popped a couple of left-over Salvinos bumpers into some acid. Video won't be ready for a couple of weeks - takes close to a week to strip properly, plus I then need to find time between work/life to edit it. If you see nothing after 3 weeks, tell me off! lol

      Can you use a hair dryer

    • @wixy500
      @wixy500  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried it. A hair dryer might work, but you might also damage the paint, which is no issue if you can re-paint it afterwards?
