I was wondering what happened there. I saw the video, but, had another short video to watch first, and, when I came back three minutes later, IT WAS GONE! 😱 That intro was worth the short wait, and, who doesn't like Emerson Knives? Great stuff, all around. 👍
I’ve been hovering over “Buy” on an A100. Remembered you had a review and came back here for inspiration. Had completely forgotten about that lock stick intro. Thanks again for that! 👍🏼
Use a pencil on the blade face where the lock up for the lock engages the graphite will help with the sticking! It's what I used during my locksmithing days no oil will compare!
Man, rewatching this video (yes, I rewatch your videos multiple times *looks away to the side and blushes*) the intro gets me every time, a masterpiece! My second favorite is from your The A to Z of Blade Steels - New Edge Retention Roundup because that song is just soo catchy xD
I can't recall any Emerson knives that have ever caught my attention, they just never stand out for me; however, this video was in depth and interesting watch nonetheless. That intro segment had me rolling, awesome shit there, mate.
I think it was Neroknives who pointed out that the lockstick kinda works as an extra safety feature and might actually be a deliberate thing Emerson does with his knives. Not sure about that though. I just ordered my first Emerson, the CQC8 Horseman, interested to see how it stacks up to something like the Recon 1 in terms of "hard use".
Oiling the lock face makes lock-stick worse sometimes, it allows the liner to slip further in but idk but what i do kno is that intro was off the chain!! Lol good stuff
You murdered that kangaroo didn't you? Just admit it. Rope cutting no longer does it for you so now you've moved on to marsupials. How many koalas can you kill with Rex 121 until the blade can no longer cut paper?
Nice video. Did you know you can front flip that bad boy? Just make sure the pivot isn't tightened down too hard. Even easier to do with the Mini A100.
Love the vids Ced. Just a note or two. The clip is parkerized and the knife uses nylatron washers. Master class editing, BTW. I can only imagine how long that took 👊
I would certainly never want to get in a knife fight with Emerson (anyone, really), but from a practical point of view, what do his designs offer that a RAT 1 D2 doesn't do just as well for 1/5th the price? For that matter, the current Ganzo Firebirds in D2 (which amazingly enough seem to be their own designs. Shocking!) offer more for even less.
oh definitely valid comment for sure, those are great. I guess its the spice of kife being variety that causes us to all want something different, even it it does the same job
Do any of us really “need” another knife anyhow? Ha ha ha. Heck no. So get them both. I have found myself the perfect knife for me about six times now. If you get what I’m saying. I am just as much a fan of the hunt, than actually having the perfect knife. For all sectors even. Meaning folders and fixed for all categories. It’s just part of the “hobby”, or lifestyle. Gives us a reason to work hard through the week.
i got a few emersons the 154cm blade is great its better heat treated than most. and i can get my seax v grind chisel and bulldog full chisel get stupid sharp without much effort. the edges of most production knives are usually over heated you dont get to its full potential after 3 to 5 sharpenings'
So much layering in that intro 😥, well done man. Can i down " Lock Stick" on itunes? A kangaroo leg?!? Lynn Thompson is screaming somewhere "Why didnt we think of that!". Thorough testing man.
Well, that intro gave me a nervous twitch 🤣 Also, here in the States we say Shaman as Shawwmaan . It should be drawn out for we local yokels.lol. Not trying to say you must say it that way,it is simply funny how we say things differently ,though we spell them the same way.cheers C&E .nice video,I am off to twitch a bit more .🤣
Did you end up with 25 degree edge I have noticed that if you go smaller it really widens the grind and don’t look good I even have trouble putting 25 degree on Emerson’s
A few things I do not pay attention to are lock stick - don’t care, ergos and hot spots - don’t care… my hands are tough enough and lock stick although foreign to em as a Chris Reeve and Emerson guy is fine on my Emerson’s.
The day before I watched this I was on DLT Trading looking at this model and appreciating it being diff from all the others. Thx for hitting some of its bk stories and not holding bk about its lock stick
Great review. I kinda missed the robot girls but the dancing man was an adequate substitute! GB Antioxidant compound works on lock stick. The Nick recommended it and it’s worked for me. Seems permanent too.
1. Create strange art house videos involving talking cats and disembodied heads 2. Post well-thought-out video reviews with Final Fantasy / Chrono Trigger music in the background while wearing One Punch Man t-shirts 3. Post well-thought-out video reviews of Emerson Knives while making self-deprecating jokes implying you're not enough of an alpha male to use Emerson products 4. Secretly make Ernest Emerson proud by using his knife to cut through and remove the body of a kangaroo that died by entangling itself in a fence to prevent young schoolchildren from being traumatized 5. Become a Nutnfancy-approved sheepdog
I'm not the biggest fan of Emerson or his often impractical designs, but the A100 is tempting. That said, why would you buy this when you can buy a ZT Emerson with a similar design (like the 0640)? It has a much more premium steel (CPM-20CV), titanium and carbon fibre handle and without question a much better build quality and fit & finish.
@@CedricAda I had another one of my comments deleted on your Benchmade Altitude review. Probably because I said "Fuck off, Benchmade." I'll beat those TH-cam filters yet. Free speech, mofos!
Are you sure it's using PB washers? He uses a grey nylatron, last time I checked.
correct!

The best part of staying up late in America: You're first to see new C&A psychosis.
But in all seriousness. You have outdone yourself (again) with your intro. Bravo brother
Okay, that intro was off the hook! 😂
Watching your videos is like having an acid trip for steel nerds
Sorry previous commenters, had to slightly rejig a couple tracks which were causing content ID issues to one I know are safe, so needed a reupload.

Man, I’ve not laughed that hard at a video in a long time. When the beat hit on “Lock Stick” I lost it! Well done sir.

That’s the manliest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Cutting off a kangaroo leg! Ernest would be proud! I know I am!
I can't recall any Emerson knives that have ever caught my attention, they just never stand out for me; however, this video was in depth and interesting watch nonetheless.

One of the best reviews I've seen. Really enjoyed it Pete.
Really liked the cut test music for this, well, liked in the sense that I felt it was very fitting for it's purpose.
You probably put more effort in that intro than I have anything in the past 5 years
Uncle Randy would be very happy to see you using your knives on more than twisted sisal rope🦌😁😉
Can't wait till ZT makes a decent version of this! 😉
Almost best intro ever quite the groove and the moves Aloha Pete
Yes new auditory materials.

That was a super clever intro!

The Shaman can be opened with a front flip as well, try it.
Yep best intro yet!
That was the most epic intro ever!
That intro!! 😂 Well done.
Thanks for the minute and quarter long laugh at the beginning. That was well played.
You can front flip the shaman as well!

My only problem with emerson is they are a $60 knife masquerading as a $200 knife.
Great choice for a comparison. Thanks again !

Liked this because your intro made me laugh out loud, literally 😂🤘🏻 “lol” also, great review!

Emerson Slogan
" The #1 hard use knives in the world ". 😂😂😂 At what??? Opening letters
The day before I watched this I was on DLT Trading looking at this model and appreciating it being diff from all the others. Thx for hitting some of its bk stories and not holding bk about its lock stick
Why did you use marker on knife when you sharpen it?
So when I make a pass with the stones, and if it wipes it all off, it means its the angle I want 👍🏻
Enjoyed your video and subscribed. Excellent knife for, as you pointed out, its purpose.
Great review. I kinda missed the robot girls but the dancing man was an adequate substitute!

Single edge? Try cut bottle horizontal if can pass straight.. Only emerson sure will show the best results
You are a DH lol I loved this.
Lock stick! Fuck yeah. That should have been the title for the thumbnail
The main reason for lock stick is that the stop pin is not fixed.
Killer intro bro!
Lmao 🤣 this opening is hilarious 🤣… ya they do that a lot
Art.

only a minute in so far, but I really hope the review continues like this for the whole 30 minutes!
Got sad when the dancing stopped :(
Instantly hate the actual knife, but going to watch the whole damn video in the hopes for some more antics!
i'm not sure MDMA quite suits ya, Pete.
Hahaha haha haha oh Pete I died laughing at this man ya cheeky bugga. Also don't get caught on Petes fence.....just dont.
YOU RULE PETE! :-D
No wave on this one an no finger guard to.but no deal breaker.
I'll take the Emerson all day
I really like it too
This is a very zen knife for me. Like all things zen, you can't add anything to it using words.
Origin of from Queen
I guess 100 cuts for 154, but easy to resharpen.
Dance white boy dance, lol nice intro.
Dude I thought this knife is on nylatron washers...
Im gonna take it down tonight and check, correction in a future video if i was wrong
Pete the Butcha!
FYI: If you remove the lubricant (olive oil?) from the lock face and the lock bar face the lockup will not stick.
That intro had me rolling
That poor kangaroo.
yeah it was a grim spectacle
Well...at least lock stick is good for something
Loved the video
