    Great playing! They make furniture touch up pens and sell them at Lowe's, etc. Just get one that's not too dark and use it to cover the glaring scratch. It's easier to make it darker by reapplying than it is to lighten it if you start out too dark. Just mark it and wipe it. Easy. It's the very light color of the body that noticeable on camera. A refin would be a mistake. I bet StewMac sells something similar but the options at Lowes are probably just as good. A colored pencil would probably work also.

      Hey thanks! Yes. I thought about a touch-up pen. I’ll look into it. Thanks!

    Tom Anderson pickups are superb. I've been a fan since I first tried one on an Anderson superstrat around '86.

    Cool guitar bro! Yeah.. accidents happen. Ive had my share.. from the brand new 1992 Gibson Explorer that fell off the wall when my girlfriend threw a pillow at me. I shouldve took it but you know, reflexes. The headstock damn near snapped off! I had it professionally repaired and it was very well done. The GF paid for it in many many ways... wink wink. More recently I was working on my American Hwy 1 Strat and a tiny piece of solder leaped off the iron tip and burned right into the nitro finish. DOH! Oh well, there's a reason guitars are considered battle axes.

      Oh hahahaha. Wow. That sucks! But glad it was all repaired!
      Yes it’s a nice guitar. Thanks for watching!

    White toggle looks fine. Matches pickguard edge! Bummer about the small dings, but gives it character.

      I've seen a few of these used, and they all have scratches like those. So I'm led to believe this finish is just prone to that

    Thank you for this video, I recently got one with a tremolo bridge
    The guitar came alive when you swapped the pickups
    I wasn't sure if I like the guitar at first, but after playing it for some time I like how the neck feels and your video motivated me to swap the pickups and then this guitar might actually become one of my favorites
    I currently have a Suhr Aldrich Bridge pickup for this and I think about getting Lollar Blonde single coils

    The Session looks and sounds sweet ! Wouldn't bother repairing the ding. I bought a matte black one, just as another used one in bourbon walked in. It had a single chip in the top/middle body on the outer edge. The tech said fix not worth the money/hours paid to sand and polish an epoxy flush after. I bought the black, only because I was thinking resale if I lose interest in a Session.

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s great! The black is also sweet! If our a tortoise shell pickguard on that too! They’re my favorite. Haha. Did you ever lose interest in the session?

    I'd go with the stock pups IMHO.... It almost sounds like the new set is out of phase

      Good ear! They WERE out of phase. I noticed that too. About 2 days after I made this video, I had my guys fix it. Much better now.

    It's light cause its routered out below the pick guard and of course the electronics cavity is hollow.
    I wish mine played great

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh. Yours isn’t good? That’ll be a first. What’s wrong with yours?
      Also, it’s Basswood so it tends to be lighter.

    • @eweegeewa
      @eweegeewa ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am at the point of buying the tools to adjust the saddles and the Allen key to adjust the neck myself.
      Its been to a luthier.
      Frets were levelled and polished. The two E string saddles were lowered making bends impossible. The neck now was level without any relief. The pickguard is convex, so it's closer to the strings
      I originally bought it after seeing the Vintera Strats only because I thought it would be setup like they were.

    I just bought one and it plays great. I'd like to upgrade the pickups - do you know if your tech changed the tone pot? Usually a humbucker needs a 500k pot.

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey. Congrats on the new guitar! I didn’t have to have any pots changed because it’s an H-S-S Strat-type anyway. It came with a humbucker. Did yours?

    I have the same guitar with the same pickguard. Honestly though, I prefer the old neck pickup sound. Both sounded good, but to me the old one sounded warmer and the new one sounded twangier.

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It did have a warm sound. But I do like that bite and chime of Texas specials. But I’ll likely swap them a few more times in the future. Tinkerers, us guitarists. Haha.

      Of course. Some like one set of pickups. Some like another. I like playing around and trying new stuff in my guitars. My “FrankenSchtein” Jagmod frankenstrat has seen so many pickups. I just like playing around. The Godin can take it! Haha.
