Discount Tire Store Scam? In store vs online prices

- Shopping the new @DiscountTire store. My trucks originally had 245/70/17 tires. I found the price of $87 on their website. It’s funny how what you find online is not what you get when you get to the store.
I do appreciate the fact that he gave me the lower price since it did show they had my size in stock.

Your salesman gave you 14 dollars off each tire to keep you safe in the same size your truck comes with. He’s taking care of you instead of letting you leave on unsafe tires that don’t meet the correct load requirements of your truck. Nothing wrong with that
I'm a salesman for discount tire. And let me be completely transparent for you. He's not trying to rip you off nor do we think customers are stupid. We understand tires are expensive especially for trucks even when we have a better discount than y'all. So he's not trying to scam you. He's just trying to sell to you. It's their job. Quoted 4 tires to sell an hour. So it's not how much he sells you it for but for units. ALSO big thing we don't get payed commission so we dgaf for your money. We just want to sell you units so it's actually easy to talk us down in price so long as you buying tires from us. THATS THE TRUTH, their you go

@1987Miketyson 100% true. Salesman are given 100% control to alter the price within reason. Discount Tire is the largest tire retailer in the country and has the best bargaining power with manufacturers on price. The move to from installation to sales is the most scrutinized promotion at the store level in the company until you get to higher management.
Yea that’s why they also do price match, once your actually in their store and they quote you, but you tell them you found them cheaper elsewhere. They will match it 100%

Inventory is tricky. I try my best to encourage customers to order their tires online so the tires go on hold for them. It always suck when they show up saying they want certain tires and it showed in stock on the website. But tires sell very fast and often they’re sold before they can come in. So ordering online for one guarantees you the tires and you get priority as an appointment to get in and out within 45 minutes.
I’m a manager at DT as well def not ripping you off he was helping you out cause that’s what we do. No commission we just want you guys leaving safer than when you arrived and price is never an option our prices start out at what the manufacturer wants for them then we can work it out from there if price is a problem
You’re complaining about $128 a tire? Average is like $180 for anything good like Yokohama or Continental, even upward of $200. Don’t complain about us because of your own situation. I work here and can’t afford anything after my discount, it’s not because it’s expensive. It’s because YOU, and I myself am broke. Just bite the bullet.
Anything between 235/40R19 and 275/70R17 is going to be over $1,000 for a full set if it’s good and safe. We sell cheap tires, but we don’t recommend them because they perform poorly and are made with minimum requirements. We recommend the safest product.
On top of that, we’re salesman. Even though we don’t make commission, we still want what’s best for YOU because it keeps you coming back, and making us look better to our company. Have fun spending 3+ hours at Costco, Les Schwab, Pep Boys, Big O or Walmart.

@@dougwilcher608every discount tire is the same, we’re all trained the same we all do the same work recommend the same things we work on a strategy of “one discount tire” so you can go to a discount tire in texas then an americas tire in cali (because that’s what it’s called and it’s the same) and get the same exact work same exact recommendation
I've never Ever Never never never EVER!!!! had a problem with discount tire. I use them anytime I need tires. They made me a life long customer the first set I bought got a screw in it the very next day, went back they said unable to fix it due to sidewall puncture, slapped a new tire on and resold me the road hazzard. No questions, accusations, or BS just great customer service always for YEARS!
Bruh. We literally offer better deals to try to get people to buy. We don’t even get commission. It’s simply to ensure you are safe on the road and aren’t driving on tread that’s flatter than a pancake
Bro inventory isn’t accurate everywhere you go. If you can’t afford anything better than great value tires for your truck maybe you should get a vehicle with smaller tires.

I've been getting the run around for tire prices by various tire chains for years. You find the cheap tire price online, order and make an appointment for install. Get a text or phone call that the cheap tires are no longer made/unavailable/whatever. And you are forced to either buy the more expensive tires or start the process with a different tire chain. Doesn't matter if it's expensive places like Firestone or Goodyear or "discount" places like Pep Boys or Tire Kingdom. They have ALL pulled this online bait and switch on me over the years. 😒

They charge $30 each to mount and balance. Find your local tire shop. I bought 4 today for car for $100 cheaper than anywhere I looked.
You do know if you find a better price at any store for the same tire that we don't know about well ether match it or beat that price bro. We just want yall safe we don't get paid commissions so it dosen't matter to us. Oh and y'all need to know this we're renovating the work will do on your car were gonna start doing brake work, alignments, and other work for your car other than just tires. Be safe y'all 😊
Seriously we’re gonna do brakes and alignment???? I thought we were never going to since that wasn’t in Mr Halle vision and it requires more than a simple 1 week training course if we do that would be great honestly but I don’t think my store would be able to since it’s on the smaller side we have 3 balancers and 4 changers and we don’t even have a speed cell 4 bays and one outside one 2 lifts
@@matthewmuirhead7561 well that's the plan for the larger stores because there are people like me with the training and ase certifications that can do that work but not on the job and since it would be like a separate training it would probably start after you get your sales associate certification

The sales people at discount tire have literally no reason to charge more than the tire is actually worth. They dont make commission, all they get for making sales is a pat on the back. they get paid their normal hourly wages regardless of much money they made the store
That's not entirely true. Bc they add a bunch of BS fees and packages to the princes online and sales tires. Which comes out to normal or higher prices around.

Online is not always accurate so he probably didn’t actually have the 245 and so in order to keep your business he lowered the price.
That’s why Firestone always price matches and guarantees that give you the best price because you can do your research and look up how much that Tire really is

Eh, not in my Experience. That's still plenty high. $150 is a decent everyday price per, but getting a get on free deal is what I'd be aiming for. I suppose some tire sizes they might screw us over more on though.

Stop being a cheapskate. Discount Tire is the best tire shop chain in the country. Friendly staff, transparent technicians. You could’ve gone somewhere else where the shop could’ve ran your pockets dry or destroy your vehicle (Firestone/Goodyear/Walmart).

Maybe a phone call to confirm that the tires you want are, indeed, in stock. Then a conversation with the salesman prior to work being done to ask if there's a better deal available? Jesus, are you new? Have you ever bought tires before?

I have been going to discount tire 🛞 for years, they never done me wrong, I had made appointment for 1:00 pm and I got the 20 minutes to the hour took me in right away and it was like 20 minutes and I got my truck back, great service if any one asked me, good guys!!!! ❤
Yeah they are good people there, they Matched the price of Rims I wanted at American trucks, I thought that was great, I won’t go anywhere else for tires 🛞
